how do I get my kids to eat their veggies?????
I put them on their plates and watch them disappear :)
yeah, i know, my kids are among the weird ones that LUV veggies.

my son loves helping me in the container garden and then getting to eat fresh veggies that he helped grow. most of the time they never make it into the house.

Good Workout to you & keep at it!!!

I, too, must be lucky! I have kids who get excited when I tell them we are having brussel sprouts w/ dinner. My kids love veggies and I often have to coax them to eat the meat and other stuff on their plate. I exposed them to a variety of veggies from a young age- but broccoli is still their favorite.

I make a large batch of my kids' favorite salad dressing and make a salad with their favorite veggies, plus fruit. It always appeals to them if there is fruit. So, spinach, grated carrot/grape is a popular one. Or spinach/strawberry. Even just two veggies is ok. Also you can put baby spinach leaves in a blueberry/banana smoothie and you won't see or taste the spinach!

I was watching Rachel Ray and they were talking about picky eaters and that some are "super tasters" and so the strong flavors of veggies especially are to much for some. They have found with repeated exposure that the people will learn to like the taste of some of the things that they didn't like at first- SO there is hope for picky eaters! I think that there was some test that the guy that was there had at his website, I think it was a Dr. Mike? Good luck with the picky eaters! I have been fortunate that 2 of my kids that I had control over their food choices as a baby LOVE veggies. I think it helped too that they pick things out at the store or farmers market etc,

My kids are older (10 and 12) and I still hide veggies in their meals. lol. My fav is cauliflower in mashed potatoes (I use a 1 - 3 ratio) and they eat their broccoli when I put it in their mac and cheese. Oh! And the actually really love my brussel sprouts!

We are lucky. Both DS love to eat and love veggies and fruit! If they don't like it(usually the look of it) we tell them to close their eyes, chew and swallow. Amazingly, they are surprised that they like it. I also tell them that they have to have the same number of bites of veggies as their age. They like counting down, they know that there is a finish. Generally they are pretty good.

We are lucky - my son will eat anything. We have a mushroom allergy - so we don't go there, but he loves asparagus (ew) and grilled zuchinni and summer squash. He loves everything except cooked spinach. Our rule is you must take two bites of everything you are offered, if you don't like it, then you don't have to finish it. One bite isn't quite enough for me to tell if I like something, so two bites is required.

My son used to eat every fruit and vegetable you put in front of him but once he hit about 18 months old, he became a "typical" picky toddler.

I just make sure he is offered fruits and veggies at every meal and in a variety of forms (raw, steamed, sauteed, etc.) Sometimes he surprises me and will eat them but he frequently ignores them.

I also do a lot of hiding veggies. I have an awesome turkey burger recipe and pasta recipe that includes shredded carrots and zucchini. I have a recipe for pork burgers (sliders) that have chopped mushrooms. I make banana muffins from a recipe that contains enough pumpkin puree and smashed bananas that each muffin actually contains 1/4 cup serving of veggies and 1/4 cup serving of fruit.

I have a recipe for baked zucchini sticks that tastes like fried zucchini. I cut the zucchini into strips the size of french fries and my son loves them.

I think you just have to keep offering the healthy foods and hope that their tastes will change and mature as they get older.

i really don't have to try hard. i have a rule in my house, that they have to try one bite, chew and swallow, each new food i put on their plate. they have found out they like asparagus, broccoli, spinach, carrots, even raw veges. my 4 year old eats (and has been since 18 months!!) tomatoes. in every shape and form. i know they are fruit, but most kids balk at the idea of eating tomato. the other two will munch on raw broccoli and carrots. we give ranch dressing or hummus to dip. they will even eat salsa and pepperoncini!!

Husband and I both eat them, and we require that T take 5 bites bc he is 5 yrs old. We went through a stage through where he simply refused and there was no way we could convince him, so we gave him VFusion to drink and hid veggies in other foods as much as possible. A little spinach blended small looks like pepper in mashed potatoes, carrots and spinach blend well into spaghetti sauce, meatloaf, lettuce and tomato got chopped up small them melted into the cheese on his tacos so he couldn't just pick them out. Now he loves peas and green beans. He'll eat other veggies but he's not a big veggie fan yet.

I eat them myself! If I take a tupperware full of raw veggies and some hummus, for myself, to the table, my kids come running and want bites - they love to dip stuff, so if your kids don't like hummus, try some lite organic ranch dressing or better yet, plain yogurt with lemon juice and dill. Your kids really do follow your example...even if it's not immediately, you set up healthy habits for later when they see you eating vegetables!

I just put a variety of bit-sized cut up fruit and veggies on the table when they come back from school and before dinner. If they are hungry, that's what they have to eat.

My kids are pretty good vegetable and fruit eaters. Honestly, I am the one that fights to get enough servings in. Sometimes I will shred vegetables into different foods. Zucchini into meatloaf, etc. I don't lie to my kids that I put it in there but most of the time they don't notice the difference. I still serve vegetables/fruits with their meals but I am getting that extra serving in as well.

Mine have V8 Splash at breakfast sometimes. 2 of mine love veggies, 2 only eat carrots, peas and broccoli. I do find they like veg more if I serve it raw.

We play "5 a day the color way." Usually at the dinner table we'll talk about how many different colors (aka fruits and veggies) we each ate that day. My kids love it when they beat me!! (I love it too!)

I know someone mentioned mixing veggies in spaghetti sauce... You can get frozen pureed squash and use that. I've also heard of using jars of baby food too. There are also recipes for mac&cheese using pureed squash. I've made that and it's actually pretty good!

Has anyone tried the V8 Splash? It's actually pretty good. I think there's one serving of veges in each serving of juice...something like that.

We just keep on serving up veggies with every meal made different ways to see what the kids gobble up. They both love different veggies. Our rule is Try One Bite each meal. Eventually each kid found his/her favs even though they may not of liked that veggie at first.

I know some parents give the veggies cool names or add cheese/sauces/dips to get them eaten.

For kids that don't eat veggies, I've always heard that blending them up in spaghetti sauce works well & the South Beach "mashed potatoes" that are actually made of cauliflour fool most. I've never had to try any of those because my son loves his veggies...for the most part anyways :)

Both girls actually eat fairly healthy. I am fortunate for that. One is into fruits a lot more and the other likes her veggies. They both love beans! White beans, black beans, lima beans, green beans. They both eat broccoli too. They will also try lettuce and zucchini and cucumbers. Good girls. :)

I'm fortunate that Adam loves his veggies and always has, especially sweet peppers. Even now I have to cut up an extra one just for him to eat while I am preparing/cooking dinner and he's 14!

Guess I lucked out that all the kids have always liked their veggies! Infact when (every one of them) was little, I actually had to wait to serve the veggies at meal time otherwise that was ALL they wanted. LOL
