Yes - my hand is up, too!
You are being checked out so that is good.
Something else for you to consider, and I would be inclined to talk with your Dr about this:
Ask for a referral to a Respiratory Physiotherapist. A lot of people's breathing techniques are poor, and can cause exactly this sort of problem, along with numb/tingly fingers, and around the mouth; shortness of Breath; feeling faint; and anxiety. There are other issues it can cause, too.
As far as food is concerned, make sure that if you eat things like oranges, pineapples, apples (unless stewed) kiwifruit etc., that you only have them occasionally and in small amounts.
Eat smaller more frequent meals
Sleep with your bed head slightly elevated. This can easily be done by putting even-height books or blocks of wood under the legs at the head of your bed.
Don't bend over until a while after eating. I used to lean over to read the newspaper on the floor ...... BIG mistake :-(
Don't go to bed on a full stomach.
As far as Asthma is concerned, Asthma/GERD/Allergies is a very common combination.
Good luck with your investigations.
