Water with lemon, lime, orange and/or mint. Taste better than water. Does not bother my tummy and tastes heathy. Hardly any calories and thirst quenching.

I have not heard that Hot beverages are a problem unless it is has the caffeine. I drink a lot of green tea, and that is best if the water is not brought to a boiling point. I usually add a bit of cold water to my cup then some hot water.

Club soda and ginger candy has been working for me; don't have the outbreaks of GERD I used to have. It's worth a try......

I AM GOING TO TRY SOME OF YOUR DRINK IDEAS TO SEE IF THEY WORK. Has anybody tried gatorade to see how it does. I mostly drink water.

Green tea-hot or cold. Also, hot apple chamomile tea is very soothing.

A refreshing summer drink is iced mint green tea. Lipson't makes mint green tea in bags. Just brew stronger than usual and enjoy.

I am was able to handle de-caf tea...but I also stayed away from green tea and black tea when I was trying to get it under control.
I also found that drinking ginger tea (slices of fresh ginger root and hot water with a little honey) would help me quite a bit when I was having a flare up.

I agree with the herbal teas. de-caf or un-caf hot chocolate (chocolate flavored?) would be ok to. I'd avoid mint flavors though. I can't handle mint anything - what I've read is that mint relaxes the spincter at the top of the stomach and allows acids to reflux and I know it to be true from experience. Cafeine also has this effect - which is why it's supposed to be avoided. I don't think everybody needs to avoid hot drinks, but it might be something to think about for those that like their hot drinks next to boiling. Ovlatine Malt is the bomb hot - IMHO

A refreshing summer tea is mint green tea made by Lipton's. Simply make a fairly strong tea, sweeten to taste and refrigerate. Green tea is a bit bitter on its own but the mint green tea is very nice.

I love juice in the morning, but have limited it to less acidic ones, like apple, pear or sometimes even grape. Since I'm also trying to lose weight, I cut it by adding 2/3 sparkling water. I've actually grown to love it more than straight juice. Another delicious trick I've learned is to add some coconut water as well. You can find it in a lot of grocery stores now. It's healthy and makes for quite a refreshing drink when combined with the juice and the sparkling water. (Great substitution for colas!)

I love my Sleepy Time herbal tea by Celestial Seasonings. Tasty drink and being herbal no caffeine.
Decaf coffee may take some experimenting with the brand. Some of them can be acidic and so still irritate your stomach.
Hot chocolate (any chocolate!) contains caffeine so may or may not be ok for you.
So much of this is individual, you need to try it and see. Also keep a food diary to track the results especially since it could be a combination of things rather than a single food or beverage.
Cheers, Catherine

First thing I drink every morning is two glasses of HOT water! It's really quite amazing when you get used to it. I am only getting ice water here in the hospital, however.

There's a tropicana juice that has banana with strawberry and orange. I find it has less of an impact on my acid than a "normal" fruit juice, and on a good day I can get away with a glass without causing heartburn.

These are great ideas. I used to drink ovaltine as a kid, I had kind of forgotten about it. That wouldn't be so strong with the chocolate and I could have it luke warm and not hot. I didn't realize the whole Hot restriction. My ENT never mentioned that but makes sense especially because my problem is swelling in my larynx from the acid. Chocolate should be restricted also right? Thanks for helping, everyone.

Smiley, you brought a smile to my face - I am sure that you meant "folic" acid :-)
I drink hot tea, but sometimes I have Ecco or Caro - coffee substitutes that are made from cereals like Barley, Rye, Chicory etc. in them. They CAN take a while to get used to but once you are you may really enjoy them. I gradually reduced hubby's coffee by adding a little of the substitute and gradually increased it so that it is about 60% substitute/40% coffee. Initially he kicked up a stink, but now he really prefers it this way. In colder weather, Hot Chocolate CAN be good, but so long as it isn't strong. I use about 1/3 of what their instructions are, and have 1/2 soy milk and 1/2 hot water.

Hi have u tried de-caff tea? I asked my dr and he said de-caff should be ok as long as its not very hot. Also i tried roobos (redbush) tea which is naturally caff free...i tried it and had no probs but i personally didn't like the taste of it. You can buy it in any supermarket and doesn't cost more than standard teas. Hope u find something that works for u, i know i really missed my tea, and now, as long as i let it cool, i can have one again :)
