They are pretty hard to clean. I know people who have TWO walkers - one for inside and one for outside! I imagine tar is the black stuff you are referring to from outside - if that is the case then it may be white spirits that is needed, or "GOOS OFF". most auto parts stores carry it. If it is the black resin from the wheels themselves, I don't know what you would do, but what I DO know is, if you have carpet, DON'T try to clean them on their - my Stepfather left marks that looks like a young hooligan had been doing burn-outs on it.
Hi - I'm hoping someone will have a suggestion for me - I've recently had to start using a walker, the kind with wheels in front and skids in back, and after I've been outside, especially crossing a parking lot, the wheels have picked up all kinds of black gunk, which comes off on my vinyl flooring. I've tried alcohol wipes to get the stuff off, but they don't work very well. I can't imagine I'm the only person in this predicament, but I haven't been able to find any info on the web. How do I clean the wheels/skids so I don't mess up my floors? Help! Thanks, bettyz53
