I have a lot of beads and have stopped beading since my eyes got bad. I may take it up again, if I can see the needle to thread them but i noticed I got frustrated and not sure if I want to go there. But was fun while I could do ti, but I tire so easily any mroe, that I find I need a nap after beading! But my daughters alway loved it when I made them new necklaces with matching bracelets. Loved making them for them. I used to do more when my kids were still at home. None of my kids seem to care for any of my crafts. They prefer Mom to make them for them. So I wonder if cratfing will die with me. But you cna find so many free caft ideas online. all you ahve to do si place (FREE + crafts + what kind, BEADING in the browser and it will come up with a zillion ideas! and many free patterns. I have a quilt group if anyone is interested in joining ..where I send free links for ideas and some QUILT projects. Its all we do. but wish it was more active group but many dont respond. I have no idea, but was hoping it would be a lot like sparks where everyone got involved and shared their ideas and projects. Check me out at Bquilter2005 at Yahoo. If you want to join it just sign up there! susan

You've got me all inspired, though I'm not much into sewing. For several days I've been working on figuring out how I want to bead a necklace I'm going to make. I have a lot of fancy beads so it should be a lot of fun. emoticon

There was much rejoicing!

Got my squares all cut out and then sewn to another squre to make half squares after sewing the two squares together in the mdidle, will then cut them inhalf and then resewn ina pattern to other half squared blocks. I sued a 5 inch square and sewed it to another 5 inch block.

now I am in the process of sewing them all (thsoe 5 inch half squared blocks together. I just am making grocery bags with them (I had one stolen from me on welfare day!) am having fun making these bags. And I hope to get other quilters to make them, help save the trees and easy to make too. So many free Quilt sites that give free instructions to make bags, is why I want to make my own. A signature bag you could say, and of course I will be pirinting or embroidery my name on them. so as not to be confused and some one say its theirs! lol
Plus I volunteered to make a placemat for the nursing home. I just have to get busy with my sewing now that I can see better. Hopefully I can do more community projects too. Susan

My next craft project will be Inkle Loom Weaving.
This is Medieval craft.
My sons gave me an Inkle Loom - Christmas before last. They reckoned I'd get a lot of fun and pleasure from it. Which I so definitely will. I just feel so bad, on their behalf, that I haven't got around to finding out how to do it, yet.

Vali_T Fons and Porter show is on the BYU Tv channel (Brigham Young University TV channel) its on at several times during the day so if you miss it at 6 am you can see it again at 11 am or 630 PM. I love it, but sometimes they show something new and not a repeat, which is a plus. I got three different shows the over day! Usually two will repeat. so if I dont get it early I will see it later. I programmed my Tv to watch it. So I dont miss it. Its not on the weekends, just during the week days and after it, this artist comes on so I watch that too. The BYU has several good shows on its channel. great channel for informing you of many artist endeavors, even story telling which I enjoy! Right now they are talking about geneologys also a love of mine! Hope you can find it, its a greta how, if nto you can go to their site, www.FonsAndPorter.com susan

Wow Susan, sounds like you're going to have some real fun once your company leaves and you can get started on your new project. I'm not really much into things that involve sewing, but I always love starting a new project. I do bead work when I have the time, and I've got a whole list of projects I want to try...one of these days...Now I'm getting into making jewelery, but when am I going to find the time to really learn how to do it?? Oh well, it's still fun to plan and dream while I wait for the time to find me. emoticon

By the way...what network is that show on? I've never seen it or even heard of it, but it sounds like something I'd love if I could find it and watch it.

Do any of you gals watch Fons and Porter?

Well, because of watching their show....I just had to go out today and buy some new material (and sewing tools) as I want to make a few things.I get very creative watching their show, It inspires me! So I got these idea from Fons and Porter as I watched her show all all the time and this week I learned a few new things; one for weaving and one for using 1/2 squared blocks. I want to make a bag from some squares and try my hand at her weaving method using material cut in strips and sewn together and then weaved for a quilt. Cant wait!

I think using material in a quick way helps being creative and can make many new patterns. To me using material creatively in projects takes on a whole new atmosphere when you get new ideas. I am so inspired! I want to use Fons and Porters ideas of weaving and her use of 1/2 inch squares for making some grocery bags and quilts. I think she has a lot of neat tips and patterns. Love it. Even her painting on material for a new approach , making your own designs are neat! I am impatient to incorporate them all in one project!

I was so excited after seeing her latest shows this past week and how easy many of them were creative; using a bias making to accent quilts. I was so inspired that I had to go out today and buy some material and other things that compliment these projects. And you know ...more material was involved!

The weaving method I love to try uses a lot of material but is a shortcut to sewing so much. It seemed so easy to weave than sew each piece individually! I love to do (Fons and Porters) ideas and I want to use them for a lot of bags. You weave like a basket after you have sewn two or three pieces of material together and weave them (after sewing strips together). You weave them lifting one up another piece of the stripped material . I hope I can remember long enough to do it.

When I got back from the store (I realized my relative were here waiting for me and they were on my computer) (It kind a made me angry.) Wish they'd call first. It almost makes me angry at myself for giving them a key). Oh well, relatives! Its good and bad when they do come for a visit! But I cant understand why they dont call ahead of time! And then to come home and find that they help themselves to whatever. Yanks my chain. But when I gave them a key I should have known they would come!

Well, when I came in and took my "shopping" out and shared my excitement with them about my projects as I laid out on my table and show them all my new stuff that I just acquired and how I will be making what I have intended to do today, (Prior to them intruding on my peacefulness). So we also looked thru my stash after I told them what all I had planned to do and what I had in mind. Looking for more material to compliment what I bought. And showed them some of the neat materials and stuff I already own and how I was going to use this one tool, a bias maker. (Showing them.)

I was amazed they agreed to listen while I did my little "show and tell." They have not seen my quilts in a long time so I showed all of them to them! And told them all about Fons and Porter and my ideas and the excitement seem to drive the rest of the afternoon. I could not get to do any of the sewing I had intended to do today after they arrived, but showed them all I already started. They were not too impressed, but I told them it was not finished. And showed them other bags I had done. They liked the art work on a few! They at least liked my choice of squares for this one project I had started this morning. I was hoping the one bag would get completed this weekend. but... I Guess not now! Unless hubby entertains them! (lol) He tires of my relatives real quick unless they are discussing cars and male stuff!

But I am so exhausted from my "company," and hate that I had to cook for company when I ahd no warning ahead of time. So we had some leftover stuffed peppers my daughter gave to us and made some Greek potatoes and salad. And I am now just so tired I want to go to bed, but I have this company for a while so I don't think I will get much done unless my hubby entertains them tomorrow. (Lots of laughs!) He did tonight so I can be on the computer (for this) . PLease do pray I get thru this weekend. I think that is all they will be staying for, but as usual will have to take them for the sights of the area. lol

The thing is, I get so excited with company and also about the things I want to do after seeing the Fons and Porter shows that I just have mixed feelings. I wihs I had not left to go and buy some material and other things. And I wish others were as excited about all the things I want to create.

I just enjoy watching the Fons and Porter quilting shows and been doing it for sometime and today I just was hoping after I bought what I needed (material and tools) that I would be able to just sit and sew and make what I had planned to do today. But it seems well laid plans don't always happen!

This one tool I bought was a bias maker. I have heard of them before but never knew what they looked like or how to even use it. But watching Fons and Porter, they showed how to use it this past week. And I just had to go and buy one, because between her bag and her weaving and bias she made, I can see so many things using this tool. Saves money too! It will pay for itself with one quilt. Using bias can be quite expensive, but showing how to make your own, I was thrilled to know I will be saving money when I make my own!

I have a stream of ideas for her ideas and stuff. I cant wait until I can get to it. Now its on hold until my company leaves! (right now they are outside to view my "garden to be" with Hubby and knowing him he will be showing off HIS car too! ) He always shows our garden even if its not in full bloom. He's always proud of OUR accomplishments! (Even though I do quite a huge porportion of the cretaive "planting" of the seeds and plants! ) And of course he spends more time talking about ... his car! lol) That's okay, it gives me a few minutes to be alone with myself!

But I know its probably too soon to be totally creative, I have to wait until I get my new eye glasses before I can do any dainty hand sewing, but at least I proved to myself this morning that I can now thread a needle and I did do some sewing on my sewing machine. I am so eager to complete my new projects. But now its on hold until my "company leaves"! Darn it!

I just wont be able to do anything let alone the more delicate work until my company leaves! Dotn get me wrong, like soem company but these relatives just take advantage of our kindness. I am just so eager to be creative that even my upset today is not going to get in my way! Just cant wiat til my company leaves! Got to get off. hubbies back! And I still have to entertain until they go to bed. Got things to do. Susan
