wow congratulations! 5 lbs to go! that is amazing! yup I try to the same the only time I have the energy to do it is first thing in the morning.. but its rather hard to get up at 6 AM when you haven't slept all night yuck! I started getting up in the morning and doing my yoga or my elliptical. I found some really good recipes with LOTS of soluble fibre and made myself a list and stuck it on the fridge :) speaking of which I am off to bed :)

I know what you mean about it being rather painful and slowing you down. I find that I have to stick to a regular routine and really get myself to exercise and drink plenty of water during the day. Also, keep stress at a minimum~still working on that one! I was at 165 last year but weighed in today at 146.8!!! It just takes time and perseverance!!! Don't give up and don't feel bad if you don't lose the weight right away. Keep on trying your best!!!

I have IBS C and I have to admit that it can be rather painful, I tried to detox but that didnt really work either... I also have fibromylagia and a blood disorder which slows me down.. I have to admit that since I have gotten IBS it has slowed me down even more.. almost as if my body wasn't absorbing what it needed or its floating somewhere in the middle of the toxins.. who knows.. I only have about 20 lbs to loose but they seem to be a hard 20lbs

Ok, well, I'm in the same boat, so I appreciate the things you guys have said. I am working on eating better and starting an exercise program. It is difficult to exercise as often as I should considering I often have days and days of IBSD flair ups which make it difficult to stick to a program, but I'm working on it.

Sometimes losing weight with IBS is easier & sometimes it's harder. Right now, for me, it's harder. Back in 2005 & 2006, I lost 60 pounds due to the big D. The best part was I was thin for my daughter's wedding & my 30th year graduation. But, It didn't last. As soon as it stopped, I put the weight back on. I guess we have to eat as many veggies our digestive systems can handle to keep from gaining weight. Also include strength exercises in your routines.

I take Digestive Advantage and can eat just about anything in moderation except for carbonated drinks and regular milk and ice cream. I usually start the day with a cup of decaf coffee and non dairy creamer and some Dannon Activia yogurt. I find if I eat small portions when I feel hungry and get exercise in some form (be it cleaning house or walking/riding my bike or volunteering at the church, I finally got down to my 150 pounds! I have to watch the portions though. One potluck and my weight goes up a few pounds!!!

I am also very sensitive to what I eat in the morning and I found that if I eat protein and fruit for breakfast I do ok. I found a recipe for high protein black bean brownies on Spark Recipes if you're interested :) I can't eat carbs in the morning, so those brownies (no flour added) sound awesome.

I just put in a small handfull of froz. berries. The milk helps it to defrost just enough. I find no IBS problems with it and the benefits are more than twofold. Supposed to help with memory cognition and anti-oxidants among other things. Besides, it helps boost up the boring fiber cereal. I sometimes sprinkle on cinnamon which is good to prevent sugar spikes for diabetics.

I like the idea of milk and frozen blueberries.. that makes sense to have the fibre swell..I happen to have some frozen blueberries to ;) I have been hesitating in eating them in fear that aggravate IBS (as they frozen but uncooked..)

To CHAMPGOOF, I also wanted to tell you this 3 meals and 2 snacks is also for avoiding blood sugar spikes and dips for diabetics. It is an approved way to eat. The snacks, however, should be low calorie. The word snack is misleading --it just means--not a meal. Maybe 100 -150 calories?

Also sometimes when you start an exercise program, you gain weight. It happens to me even when I do everything right!

The only thing I can think of is have a little milk and frozen blueberries with the cereal. It fills me up. Eating dry cereal is just giving you the 'crunch' feeling of pretzels, etc. You need to have a liquid to make that fiber swell. This works for me for breakfast and I usually don't like breakfast, but this keeps me satisfied. Keep it to 3 small meals and 2 small snacks inbetween. Small caloric snacks that could be an apple with a teeny bit of peanut butter or something like that.

I have to eat small meals but that means I east MUCH more often.. the end result is I gained 5 lbs!!!!! I thought I was doing something right.. evidently I wasn't... help.. I snack on cereal such as fibre 1, multi grain cheerios, wheaties, life whole grain cereals, all brans..what else to do????and yes I started the extreme tedious task of weighting everything I eat... (yuck!!!) what else to do?!
