I am surprised to here that this is happening, but probably shouldn't be. I have asked my own friends several times to not send these to me by email, and yet they persist. I don't mind so much - I just hit delete. Unfortunately, many people don't realize that by just forwarding these on to many people, they are sending along everyone's email addresses for the whole world to see. Then people wonder why they get so much spam.
We've started to have more of a problem recently with "chain" messages. For example, you're asked to send something along to 10 of your friends, and before you know it you're getting this same message (or a similar one) from lots of different people.
I think a lot of these are very nice, but not everyone wants them. So we're going to ask that people stop forwarding these along- either as SparkMail messages or comments on SparkPages. Please pass the word along to Teams you're on and individuals if they send them to you, letting them know that we're trying to discourage it. Also, if you get one of these messages, please do not "reply all" when responding to the sender, since that just multiplies the emails for everyone else.
If the problem continues, we'll make a formal policy against them. But for right now, we're hoping this will help.
Let me know if you have questions! Thanks!
