That's why Malachi chapter 4 vs 5 is so important for us....who knows that Elijah has already come though....

Yes I agree...people can be any religion or belief but just let us stand up and say I'm a Christian without receiving a hostile response. This country is so prejudiced against Christians.

Well the end is in God's time!

I have heard for years that America will fall from the inside and now I am watching these things come to pass. We have forgotten our basic principals and teachings of the forefathers. History has shown us over and over what happens to nations who turn away from God. Allowing gay marriages is just the tip of the iceberg. It is quickly coming into play that we can not stand up for our beliefs if it goes against another, who cares what the Bible says.

Good to have you joining in too Christine...
The date of the first blood moon falls on my birthday and it's Passover of course this year too.
I think the recent turn of events re Putin and the Ukraine is very interesting, how he is starting to assert himself.
You are right that your administration have turned their back on God but that's not hard when you consider who your president is and his religion.
I agree, the wrath of God is in store for those trying to divide His Land.
In the Word there are two distinct Covenants, one for the Jews and the other for the Gentiles...but they aren't to be mixed up. According to my husband that is one reason the Jews accuse the Gentiles of muscling in on God Almighty!
Having said that...the Israeli Knesset is not standing for the Torah either.

I see in our news today that at midnight same sex 'marriages' are to be permitted...I hung my head in despair and I know the Lord will repay this blatant disregard for His Word.

This is a very interesting discussion! I've been studying up on the blood moons. I'm familiar with Daniel and Revelations, studied it in bible college back in the 80s. Never dreamed I'd actually see the Lord's return! But it's imminent, isn't it? The Word tells us Jesus will return after a blood moon and an eclipse of the Sun. There will be 4 blood moons within the next 18 months, the first one will occur on April 15th. We won't know the day or hour, but the signs in the bible tell us the approximate time and I believe it will be within the next 1-2 years.

Yes, Putin is the king of the north. The sheeple of this great land handed the reigns over to an administration that has turned it's back on Isreal. God is very clear. There are many prophesies about what will happen to those who turn against Isreal.

God will not turn His back on His children. And that is a great comfort.

Well, I believe in predestination, all that are to come will come. They bible says that. I know Joseph was chosen of the Lord and is most likely one of the dispersed of the tribe of Ephraim. That is the only tribe that aren't in the 144,000, being dispersed amongst the nations. Dan being cast aside and never included.

I think the division is about to go ahead now...so there can't be much time left here for the bride.
Yes Joseph is a Hebrew Christian...not a Messianic because they actually believe in the Trinity. You can never get a Jew to believe that God is 3, God is 1.
He's such a blessing because of his knowledge of the OT.

A few years ago I wrote out some of his conversion testimony on the team.
Briefly, he was drawn by the Lord to actually go to Israel and then got lost in the Sinai Desert for 3 days with no food or water. It was there He met the Lord and from that point was told to "Trust Him and follow Him." Joseph has been a Missionary from that day in November 1972, he's almost 70 yrs old now and more on fire than ever!! lol

Thats true! Many just dont realize it.
Yes I know about Daniel and to watch Israel. I heard many years ago when they were making the plans to divide the land up and God says do NOT to do that!

Thats awesome your hubby is Jewish! Is he also a believer in Yeshua?

You could read the book of Daniel which tells us much about the end times. Putin is king of the North!! Also 'watch' Israel....Israel is God's Timepiece.
ICAN...my husband is Jewish...we live and breathe what is happening in Israel. Watch as the leaders of the countries like the UK, Europe & USA come against Israel, what befalls them! God is angry...they are trying to divide His Land, they have a plan to do so pretty soon. The Pope will be there in May this year....so what I mean?
There is a lot more about Russia & Ukraine than meets the eye!!

JANETELIZABETH Its like the news is really telling BIble prophecy more and more! We know in these last days it will be troublesome times but its also exciting to know its all that much closer to the time Jesus will return!
With this conflict in Russian and Ukraine, I wonder if that could lead to the war some think we may have in the end days with Russia. There's alot we dont know about prophecy being fulfilled and the timing, but it seems all this is leading to that point!

I've been using a devotional by Anne Graham Lotz during my quiet times and came across this powerful verse. I'm working on some Scripture memorization and this is definitely one I'd like to commit to memory . . .

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Well Carole, we are watching the whole situation very closely, Joseph also gets regular updates from ministers actually there or know people we are there and they get in the formation out. We've been trying to financially help the sisters & children of the brothers who are in prison in Iran and other countries too.
We know that Iran have war ships in the Mediterranean Sea at this time and Egypt have given them permission to pass through the Suez Canal...
Gradually Israel is becoming more and more hemmed in and threatened....and Joseph says they will react!!

Joseph thinks the whole uprising that is going on is the Shiite Muslims attempting to bring in a worldwide Caliphate! Many of the Sunni Muslims are converting to become Shiites. It is a powder keg for sure!

I would certainly hope the answer would be yes, but I don't think we could know for sure unless we were in that situation. But to recant would be unthinkable.

Janet, so much that's going on in the Middle East really concerns me - Iran, Iraq, etc. - and now the situation in Egypt. Everything seems so fragile, or maybe like a powder keg would be more accurate. Do you have a feel for what will happen in Egypt and how Israel will be effected?

I know about Christians in prison in Iran who have been sentenced to death for their faith in the Lord Jesus. All they have to do is recant and they could go free....
I wonder if we would have the strength to stand?

"If you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps." - 1 Peter 2:20-21 NIV

This passage was read during last Sunday's worship and I can't seem to get it off my mind. It makes me think of all that is going on in Christian communities around the world today. And I wonder when it comes to suffering, how many of us truly desire to follow in Christ's steps?

Yes I am too...where would we go but to the Lord!!

As I hear the news, sometimes just little snippets about countries who have in some way come against Israel...sometimes through trade, banishing their ambassador from the country or have been street protests against Israel & Gaza...then watch the judgments fall on that country!!! Look at Australia....first those floods and now the cyclone!! Britain is the same, just horrendous weather all over the country.

There are enough "bad" things happening all around us and "troubles" in our lives so I think it is time to just sit back and think about God for a while. He is our source and strength!

I AM AMAZED HOW GREAT GOD IS!!!

Just look at the different weather patterns! How boring it would be if it was the same all the time!

Want to share this thought with me?

Deborah, thank God I don't suffer from depression. I do wonder if only those who suffer or have suffered are the ones who truly understand the feelings and emotions.

Hmmm... as one who suffers from depression, I am really sensitive to the "Christian" take on it. I often feel really judged. To me depression is an illness, like cancer. We don't blame cancer patients, why do we blame depression patients. I didn't hear the sermon either, but grief is not something that should be criticized either. Sometimes we need to hear a word to bring us out of it. But not criticized for our feelings.

Thanks for your comments. To clarify, he used the word "sorrow" and quoted 2 Cor 7:10 as his main text. Some of the things he said had to do with depression and I didn't feel like his words were very compassionate. There are times when, yes, you need to shake yourself out of it, as he said, but there are times when that just doesn't work. I felt like he was being judgmental. I should say that I don't get on well in general with this man, and, although his Bible knowledge is impressive and I would rather hear him preach than many others who speak at our church, his sermons lack "heart." Guess I should ask him about what he meant!

Blessings, Michelle

Michelle, grief at the loss of a loved one is completely normal. Like Janet said, we didn't hear the sermon, but I would think "sorrow that comes from the world" refers to a sorrow for actions that doesn't lead to a changed attitude. This may be kind of simplistic, but I always heard Peter and Judas used as examples - the difference in their reactions to guilt.

A lot of churches here have grief counseling programs (ours is called Grief Share). We even have a Christmas memorial service where, as names of loved ones are read out, family members hang an ornament with their picture on a tree. This tree stays on the side of our stage throughout the month of December. It's a very moving service, not depressing at all.

Michelle, I didn't hear the sermon of course but wonder if he meant sorrow as in 'sorry.' That is what usually causes us to seek repentance. When God convicts our heart that is different to our own measure of being sorry about something.
IMO to have sorrow as in grieving is perfectly natural.

Thanks, Lori!

We had a sermon today that has had me thinking. One of our pastors was talking about the difference between godly sorrow that leads to repentance and the sorrow that comes from the world. I think he wanted to challenge us to examine our own sorrow. But I got the feeling that this was a bit too black and white. Is the sorrow one feels, like I do, at the loss of my mother, sorrow from the world? Isn't grief something different? Maybe I should ask him! I feel that we as a church need to have a better understanding of grief and better strategies for dealing with those who are grieving. Just some end-of-the weekend thoughts here!

Blessings, Michelle

Thanks Lori, will check that website.

The example you gave made me remember when I read the book called Azuza Street. He said that when a person's heart is not right with God they will not pay their tithes or give offing unto the Lord. Because their heart is not soft but towards other things first.

KLOVE is a syndicated contemporary christian music radio station here in the states. You can listen to it online as well. For the next short while daily posts are being made which are devotionals from Lysa T. (I will totally kill the last name spelling if I try) and her book "Made to Crave". She is talking about us being made to crave so we can crave our holy god. When we crave other things more (oh perhaps a brownie) we don't have our lives in proper order. These are good devotionals.
The site is www.klove.com and the link is about halfway down on the right side of the page.

I am not skilled to understand what GOD has willed what GOD has planned I only know at his right hand stands one who is my SAVIOR

Exactly, Janet! I'm a firm believer that there is nothing so insignificent that God doesn't want to hear about it. Sometimes just in conversational prayer, something will pop into my mind that I hadn't planned on bringing to Him. It's like He already knows my thoughts, which He does!

Good Carole, my thoughts today are along a similar thought. I was reading this morning in Job where God was talking to him about His greatness! Yet we as humans tend to fall sometimes into the frame of mind that God can't handle our problems. I read a statement once that said if is is enough to worry about it is enough to pray about!

"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7 NIV).

This short, familiar verse was one of our sermon texts from last Sunday, and I haven't been able to get it out of my mind. That's good, because it's one that I need to be reminded of daily.

I'm pretty good about casting my cares on Him, especially when I come to the end of my own ability. But I love to dwell on the second phrase, "because He cares for you."

Share thoughts from your quiet times here . . . a Scripture with special meaning, how you were convicted, challenged, or encouraged . . . anything. Let's be an encouragement to each other in our daily walk.
