I'm joining in late, but I've been tracking my miles for another challenge, so I will just jump on in!
The last 2 months (since I started running again) I have logged less than 40 miles each month. This month I am going to aim for 50 miles.

3.11 to the park near the dentist, around the park once, and to the dentist's door. not counting the (fast) walk home for these miles. i didn't actually mean to run today, but that run just fit in so perfectly with the appointment, so 15.88 down, 84.12 to go.

I'm going to try for 45 miles this month -- depending how things go, I may increase it but I've been taking it kind of easy after last month's half.
I only started running long distances over the winter, so this heat is really something I've got to get used to. Besides the half, I've really never really run more than 3 miles or so in the heat. Over the winter I could get by without drinking water during a long run, but I have a feeling that will change now that it's summer.

Love my amphipod!! www.amphipod.com I did not look forward to carrying "stuff" with me on a run, but the contour of this fits the small of my back perfectly, with even weight distribution, and NO sloshing or sliding around. Found it at my local running store last year, where I could try on several brands and run around the store, lol.
I've been rebuilding my base this spring because, frankly, I was a slacker in the dark mornings of winter. Now I'm back to where I left off after my first HM last October and feeling good, so I'm starting to train for this year's Sept HM (or two??).

PS several hours later ran 10.57 miles (17k). it was cool and gray and lovely. i tightened the delaney hydration pack and again took only one bottle of water, and it was basically fine. so 12.77 miles so far in june, 87.23 to go.

i did 112 miles in may (including long walks and runs), My coach wants me to cut back the miles a bit and focus on speed intervals and hill work for june & the first 3/4 of july (2 weeks in the mountains july 10-24 for DD's cello program), so i think i'll set the goal for 100 miles. Today i'm going to manage my first 10-miler (i hope!). so the goal is 16 k (10 mile) long runs, and two 4-10 k runs a week. also depends on the heat. but i think i can do this. First half is October 7. i did some research and ended up with the camelbak Delaney DC hydration pack ... and am not thrilled. the bouncing for the last 5 k of last sunday's run was not great. need to see if i can improve the adjustment, but besides falling it bounced a lot. only ran with one of the bottles.

Targeting 65 miles for June. Shouldn't be a problem with my training schedule.
As for hydration, I got a Camel pak and love it. I do wish I got one with a larger reservoir ( I have 50 oz.). I don't like the sloshing of a bottle once you take a sip and one bottle just isn't enough on long runs. Not a fan of anything on my waist when I run. Also the pak has plenty of room for keys, phone, etc if you choose to have these on hand when running.

i just bought a camelback and plan to start using it right away. Does anyone else have problems with cramping up if you drink water while you're walking/running?

I've been known to hide water along a route if I'm going out for a long run. I do have a Nathan Performance Gear hydration belt, but I don't like the way it bounces and it's more troublesome than what it's worth for me. Others love them, but not me.
I started using a 20 oz. handheld, which was good for me because I had water with me and I could always fill it up at aid stations during races. It also allowed me to carry my Nuun in the little pouch.
There are a number of other companies out there that have hydration solutions. I recommend you do as much research as you can and the first one you try may not be the best one for you, but at least you know, right?

I have the same issue, would love a belt, but afraid it wouldn't stay put. I have no hips to keep it up. So inevitably I end up running with a 12oz water bottle and plan my run so I pass several places that have drinking fountains so I can keep it filled.
Running a 10k tomorrow ... luckily with those races I don't have to run with water because it is provided. But it would be nice to have a small container with me just in case.
Oh! (ADHD kicking in) I do have a camel back back-pack that I can fill up with water and it has a hose that hooks up at the shoulder so if I want a drink it is always there. It's just a bit heavier and in warmer weather it doesn't let enough air through to my back to dry so when I take it off I'm normally sweaty.

What gadgets, tecniques, supplies do you use for toting water along? This is my first summer of running and I'd like to hear some opinions before I invest in any particular water belt or carrying jug... pros? cons? Anyone out there?
