Mary Alice,
I just read your post of Sept. 2nd and I am really sorry about your loss. I lost a dear friend last Friday and it is very painful. I hope you have found other supportive people to do your genealogy with where you live.

Good morning. I woke with a monster headache this morning. Yes it is allergies, no I can't take anything, one of the things I have a reaction to is medication. I have to control everything with life style. If man made it and you can smell it, I'm allergic to it. Today we are under an ozone alert, which means there is pollution in the air. That is one thing I can't control.

Hi all -- Great day yesterday -- hot but good news -- went to Renal Specialist -- all my lab work is great and kidney damage points up two and that's good. I verified how much water is okay to drink. He said as much as I feel thirsty - about 8 glasses a day anyway. His scales also agreed with my PCP scales that I had lost 12 pounds. However, I had just eaten lunch and my ankles were swollen, too -- so to nit-pik I'm wondering how many pounds the retention had put on -- one or two or three?? that could mean I really lost a couple more??? lol Have to get things at store this afternoon for pot luck tomorrow, and a few things for me. Can't do big shopping till Saturday or Sunday.

Good Morning. A bright clear morning for walking. The stars were bright, the moon was bright and I think I need to find my walking pants. My walking shorts just aren't going to cut it any longer. Last week I wore a tank top and shorts and sweated like a horse, this week I'm wearing a light jacket, pants and no sweat at all. I don't know how I did it, but I left for work without my pedometer.

While my left hip was going bad and before the replacement I was wearing expensive SAS oxfords. But, after the new hip my feet did not feel good in them. Did have one pair of SAS sandals. They felt fine. So I got one more pair. Now they are pretty worn out, darn. I think I can take them to a shoe repair and see if they can make a new insole/arch support. I really don't want to spend money on new expensive ones.

Going to Renal Specialist today - hope he has a little good news.

Good morning, my ankle is bothering me this morning, but not bad. I think the reason is that yesterday morning at 4:30 AM, when I went for my walk, it was 74, this morning it was 61. I wore walking shoes to work. When I broke my ankle a couple of years ago, I told my boss that the DR said walking shoes only for 6 months and walking shoes when ever it hurt for the rest of my life. My boss said do it, I don't care what's on your feet.

Good Morning. I slept in and didn't go for my walk till 6. Still I heard an owl. Could be I was talking to Mom. Most everyone in the family collects an animal and Mom collects owls. My ankle is better, but still tender. I couldn't keep the speed up the whole way, but got in my 3 miles.

Getting ready for church.

Today is still a tired day from the last 3 weeks. Am listening to a talking book CD I got at library yesterday. going to take a pain pill and put my feet up for awhile. Middle of back is hurting while I'm typing - have to quit for a few hours.

No matter what we do - something seems to mess up our "stuff" - weather, over-doing, etc., I finally decided that I'd do what I need/want to do and just take it easy afterward.

Hi - did not get to library yesterday - I called too late to schedule ride. Going this afternoon at 4:00.

Have to organize my notes so I can methodically look them all up one by one and have them mostly be in place as I do it. I've put off doing it, as so many things keep coming up and messing up my time. If I target a time to do something there's always glitches. So, I'll pick a random time and not overplan. How's that for "planning"?? lol

The heavens, moon, stars and planets are beautiful and inspiring and peaceful.

Am waiting to hear from SunVan if they can schedule a ride for me at the last minute this afternoon. I waited till this morning to call - usually have to call day before. But I forgot. lol I need to take my walker to get around in the library and cannot get my walker in my car. If I can't get there today, will have to wait until Saturday. That's okay anyway.

Mom went to Dr tuesday afternoon and he said she needed a treatment she'd had in the past. that should clear up her tummy problems for awhile.
More later, Echo

Good morning. When I went for my walk this morning there was a bright full moon, I saw the planet by the moon, I had thought the planet was Venus, I knew it wasn't Mars. Well the planet has been too close to the moon to long to be the right orbit for Venus. When I got back from my walk the weather man was talking about the harvest moon on this first full day of fall and said the planet was Jupiter.

I heard the owl this morning when I first got up and went to the bathroom. It was like he was calling me for my morning walk. I didn't hear him after I left the house. I haven't heard the owls that close to the house before.

My nerves are still shot. I'm what Daddy would call a nervous driver. Guess I'm still shook up. Then I'm use to driving an 04 Malibu and the rental is an 10 Fusion. It doesn't drive the same.

Mom went home yesterday. Sis actually took me to late birthday lunch at Red Lobster. there are a few things there that are gluten-free - yum. Am finishing up one of the talking books before I take them back to library. Mom gave me a couple more names of old family that I did not have yet.

It is cooler, but higher humidity - not any rain where we are here -- yet. Echo

Good morning. I am starting to get back into exercise. It is slow since I'm still having breathing problems. Well yesterday I had a car accident. As accidents go it was minor and I'm not hurt, but I was a nerves wreck. The police kept after me to stay put, I was pacing. When I got home I guess my brain decided to exercise all those nerves out. I did 10 min on the bike, 15 min of circuit training, 10 min on the bike and 15 min circuit training. I remember thinking I would do another 10 min on the bike for cool down, but 30 min later I realized I had been riding hard for 1/2 an hour. The Dr had said that for me the cool down was more important than the warn up, so I forced myself to do another 10 min slow. I don't know if it is nerves from the accident or all that exercise but today I'm washed out. Well exercising the nerves out as got to be better then eating them out.

Good morning. I walked between showers this morning. Really. It started raining before I reached the end of the driveway. It wasn't raining hard so I figured I'd walk Mutt a little and let him do his doggy thing. About the time we reached his favorite spot it had stopped raining, so we went for our walk. As soon as it got home the skis opened up.

The Texas state fair likes to have strange fried foods. This year is no exception. On the news this morning they said if you tried all the fried foods at the fair, you would have enough calories for 3 days. I don't like fried foods much and I don't drink, but I thought beer and margaritas were served cold not fried.

It has been years since I lived in LAke Placid. I loved it there.

Hi All -- could not get onto SP this morning - finally got a message that my firewall was down. Had to re-install and it's okay now. Have to scan for virus. Think it's okay, not getting any warnings.

Busy next couple days with Mom. Sis is supposed to take me to a late birthday dinner tomorrow when she picks up Mom for a Dr appt. We'll see what happens. Will explain more in couple days. Gotta Go - Echo

Good morning, I had a good weekend. It rained most of both days, but I got my walks in between storms both days. I still have 3 loads of laundry on the line that didn't get dry. DH will be working on getting that in today, if we have enough time between showers. I'm still not doing much besides walking. It is hard to work out when you can't breath. They are painting the new office and putting in new carpet. I know paint fumes will bother me so this weekend I bought a small office air purifier.

I went by DD's Sunday. Antonio is learning fast. He just turned 1, but he ran to me to be picked up, then reached down and grabbed his strooler. Grandma understands, put my cloths on me so we can go for a walk, no words needed.

A good, long nap yesterday worked like a reset button. Slept well last night; seven hours! I think conventional wisdom, 'Don't take naps during the day', doesn't apply all that well as we age.

You know what -- speaking of William Taft, etc. there's all the hullabaloo, statistics and criticism about all the overweight people in the U.S. When they show pics it's always regular people - inferring that's the only people who are overweight. But -- I believe if you look toward our "white collar" people, the ones who wear "suits" -- attorneys, doctors, law enforcement, office execs, CEO's, TV personalities, Actors, etc., etc. -- well -- we could name names.

Hi MaryAlice,

That's a question I've asked myself. How come when I go to bed early to catch up on a little sleep, I wake up even earlier & don't rally gain anything.

Hope you feel better real soon.

Good morning. Yesterday I felt better, but about noon my co-workers started asking how I was doing, because they could see I was fading fast. I felt fine, I was just sooo tired. I didn't go for my evening walk. I was in bed by 8 and had to fight to stay up that long. I just don't understand, why when you are so tired abd go to bed an hour early, do you wake up 3 hours early? At least it is Friday, so we get out at 3.

I'm Back. Yesterday I woke up with a hugh headache and couldn't breath at all. I told DH I was going for a walk to see if the morning air would clear my head. I only got about 1/5 mile when a side affect of the head ache hit me and since I can't squat in the ditch with Mutt had to make a run for the house. I sent my boss a text telling him I was calling in sick, but would make it in to upload payroll, but then would leave again. On the way in DH said look at the sign, that is why you are so sick. We were under an ozone alert.

This morning I'm better, if breathing isn't required. I went for my morning walk and it was only 69. The weather man says it will still be hot and muggy today, but at walking time it felt good.

Mornin' -- Tuesday -- I think. Had a late night last night. Mom had been having a bad stomach problem all day and finally about 11:30 decided she thought we should call Paramedics. So they came -- all her vitals and every thing were normal. They said even if they transported her to ER she'd sit there for hours anyway. Which we knew -- plus she'd be exposed to any possible illnesses someone might be coughing, etc. Finally, she was reassured and she decided not to go. Besides - if you don't feel well you'll get sicker just sitting in ER for 6-8 hours as opposed to getting better at home. She did get better all night. Tummy is tender but not bad. Her ostomy nurse comes pretty soon and she'll follow up. Paramedics suggested one of those new Urgent Care places. I have to call ins to make sure they will pay for those and/or which ones. that will solve a lot of questions and make things better. But I did not get to sleep till 3:00 and then had busy dreams about all the things I have to do today. Whew.

Good Morning, I went for my walk this morning an it was 78 at 4:30 am. I got home and the weather man said it was 83% humidity. Fall was rolling in fast, but we couldn't expect any change in the weather till at least the end of the month and he wasn't sure beyond that. Hay it is Texas and we have 4 seasons. Almost summer, summer, still summer and something else.

Good morning. Last night DH said there were 2 big storms headed our way. 1 from the north and 1 from the south and it looked like they were going to met at our house. I looked out and it looked bad to the north, so I grabbed Mutt and we went for our walk at 6:30. Not my favorite time to walk. We watched the clouds build to the south, then we watched as first the clouds from the south then the clouds to the north, went back where they came from. We didn't get any rain at all. This morning the temp was back to 78 and the humidity was back in the mid 80's at 4:30.
