WAY TO GO, TEAM!

We did it, but let's not stop here. Keep moving as that makes each one of us a winner.

Jayne, what a shining star you are!

Great job, Everyone, for all the effort.

Yes, I'm going to copy them too and others and see if I can do some of them on my trip to Florida in a couple weeks. I have an RV though so can technically get up (just maintaining balance going to the refrigerator for a drink while we're underway is a challenge sometimes, nevermind trying to pee, LOL).

Thanks CV.
I copied them to my favorites file and will try some of these exercises on Saturday. We usually stop at the hotel at about 3 so after we eat our sandwiches we can go for a walk.

I don't have any while you are driving, but when we are in an area we haven't been before we have found cemeteries to walk in. Seems a lot safer.

Margo what great suggestions.
Does anyone have anything I can do while traveling in the car for three days. We leave this Saturday.
We stop every hour at rest areas and get out and walk even if we don't need the facilities. At the end of the day we stop at about 3. I think this year since we have been walking every day for the last month we will go for a walk. We do our stretches back in the room. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions! They sound easy & I like the idea you can do them while watching TV. Just goes to show you don't have to pay tons of money for equipment.

Sandy, when I joined a womens-only gym a couple years ago and bought my own personal trainer :-) He had me doing all sorts of strength stuff I could/can do right here at home.

One thing I love is the kid's rubber ball, about the size of a soccer ball, I guess but a pretty primary color you can get at the $1 store? Anyway, you put that between your legs and "squeeze". I love it because I can do it watching TV or whenever.

I also keep my drugstore D-shaped, 3-lb. weighs laying around so I can "play" with them while I'm watching TV or reading, etc., crunches, overheads, etc.

But the exercise that blew me away was he had me just sit on a bench and stand up. That's it. Just stand up (properly :-) and sit down, then stand up, etc. After a week of doing that he gave me weights and had me do the same holding the weights. Would never have occurred to me.

I just bought the neatest gadget at Marshall's today. It is made by Bally & only cost me $8. It is a round resistance ring about the size of a steering wheel. I was lucky to get it as they only had the one. This is an area I need to focus on. I do okay with the cardio, but not very motivated with the strength training & I really need it. Maybe next month we should have strength training for our challenge.

I walked on both my short breaks and at my lunch hour. Then I went to the gym after work and did the circuit and the spinning and eliptical machine.
I got in 5.8 miles today.
May not have as many tomorrow since it is raining here again.

I forgot to post my mileage yesterday, so posted it tonight. I will have to do todays yet. I went to a fitness center today. Going to give that a try to add to my other exercises. I prefer walking outside as much as possible, especially if it is nice.
I had 4.75 miles yesterday. I have 4.5 miles today.

Man' I increased my cardio and changed up my strength exercises. I am slightly sore today. I'm also doing the bathing suit bootcamp and find it quite interesting.

My daughter came home from school last night and was amazed at how well I'm doing. I'm down 30 pounds from Christmas and she couldn't get over the physical change. It was a nice ego boost given my men are less vocal about the changes. lol

I have a niece who is a civilian nurse for the military who lives in Italy. She is about 45 minutes from Venice & lives in a beautiful "dollhouse" that some wealthy people built for their daughter. The daughter isn't using it, so lucky niece has it. She works in OB at the hospital.

Italy is beautiful. We were there in July 2000 and it was really hot. Lots to see though, so you will get lots of steps in. Have a good trip. Arizona is great in the winter.

Right now its a dream. We take turns each year going abroad or going somewhere in the US. This year with my daughter going to school in Florence - I think we're headed to Italy by year end. But I've now added Arizona to my list of places to see in US.

Camelback is in Phoenix AZ. There are a lot of mountain trails there and I just started doing them this last year. I really enjoyed doing it. I would like to get in shape and do the Grand Canyon. It's a 2 day hike. One down and one back up. If you go to hike the trails, do it in the winter time. it gets pretty hot there starting in May.
I live in Vernon county in Wisconsin, about 25 miles south of La Crosse and 2 1/2 hours north of Madison.

I just looked at your photo of your farm & you do have lots of yard to mow.

Where is that Camelback Trail? Looks like a killer to me. Also curious as to where in Wis is your farm. I live in northern Illinois not far from the Wis border. It just came to me that I've asked you this before. Hope all the weight I'm losing isn't just coming from the brain....

On your start page there is a title called "Other Goals". The team goal is listed there. All you have to do is click on the current day & enter your miles.

I know of a website that gives you the number of calories burned for activities. Let me check on lawn mowing & see if that is listed. I'll get back to you.

Peggy, where it says "Team Goals" just click on "Track Goal" for the 10 mile a week challenge. If you click on the "Walk 10 Mile Goal" it will give you the current status for yourself & then what the other team members are doing. Your status does not show up with the other team members, but is recorded at the top. I was confused a little when I didn't see my name listed with the other team members who are doing the challenge, and then saw my tracking up above. Hope this helps.

After you have completed your walk or jog (if you are able to do that) be sure to post it in the tracker under our new Team Goal. It is going to be fun to see that % marker go up.

Sounds like a GREAT idea. Walking falls right into my next set of goals which actually is starting today. I spent the first week on the site getting to know it and tracking what I eat, not it is time to start getting physical. Walking is a good place to start, I may be slow at it, but I will be able to endure to get those miles.

Have a GREAT DAY!

Kari..

HI,
I joined in the goal.
I'll give it my best try. For 3 days I will be driving to NY so it will be harder that week but I will give it my best try.
I guess that is what a goal is.

Hello Team!

I've created a goal for all who want to take part. I feel it is a reasonable challenge for us to achieve. I can't change it now that it has been posted, so hope everyone is okay with it. We can do something different for June if we want to be challenged more.
