Building on this thread, let's complete the 90 day journal together. I'll post the day's topic and then any of us can respond to it. Each week, we'll be introduced to a theme, ranging from understanding emotional eating to lightening up and having more fun in our lives. Most of the weekly themes relate to one of the key sections in the "I Can Make You Thin" seven day solution, but also work with the book. Remember - "what gets measured, gets done." Every seventh day is set aside for renewal and review reflect back on the week just gone and look forward to the week ahead. There are five things to record on your review days:
1. The best things that happened
2. The most challenging things that happened
3. Any new behavior
4. What you learned
5. Your top priorities for the week ahead

Spread throughout the 90 days are six "check in" days. These are the only days you will need to weigh yourself (your "Pants-O-Meter" is a better gauge of how much smaller you actually are). This is one part of the journey that you may skip altogether, if you wish. Looking great and feeling fabulous will always be a better measure of your progress than the numbers on a scale.

I haven't posted my progress lately. I do much better when I post daily as it keeps me focused.

4/1- 154
5/ 1 - 152
5/15 - 150
5/28 - 148

6/20 - 148.1 - yesterday I caught myself mindlessly reaching for a cookies. I saved it for my snack later. Had pizza last night and only had one piece. I wanted more but said "no".

Happiness is remembering what I really want.
Laughter is the best medicine. The best things in life are free.

Learn to say 'no' to the good so you can say 'yes' to the best.

Dream with no action = wishful thinking
Action with no plan = chaos
Dream + action + persistence = success

The ego tells me you can't do it. The spirit tells me I can.

Each time I say "no" to impulse eating, I will visualize fat melting off my body.

Thank you. I started May 1 so today is Day 29.

emoticon I must be one of the slowest losers but that is ok. This is how I have done this month:
5/ 1 - 152
5/15 - 150 - first two pounds gone

5/19 - 149.6
5/20 - 149.4
5/21 - 149.1
5/22 - 149.1 - said "no thanks" to birthday cake at a party.
5/23 - 149.1 - had virtual binge
5/24 - 149.0 - cancelled pity party
5/25 - 148.9 - I didn't put on all this weight quickly and it won't come off quickly either.
5/26 - 148.8 - I am learning patience
5/27 - 148.2 - I ate a modest portion of spaghetti. I have power over food.
5/28 - 148.0 - I was doing the emoticon because I lost my second two pounds but later in the day my mood got negative. I took a walk and ignored my negativity.
5/29 - 148.6 - Even though I stayed in calorie range the scale showed a 0.6 gain. That is ok because it is just water. I am still doing good.

That is great Kaysea6! I'm so glad you are journaling too! How is it going so far?

I'm finding that I "forget" to journal when I don't feel like I've followed all of the four principles. I think its because I still have the diet mentality of all or nothing. You know the idea that if you eat a doughnut for breakfast your entire day is ruined so you might as well eat all of the food that is not on your diet. Its a hard habit to break.

Is anyone else going to try the 90 day journal?

For the next 90 days I will journal on following the four principles:

The first is: When you are hungry, EAT. Paul explains how starving the body makes you fat and that the secret of thin people's success in maintaining their weight is that they only eat when they're genuinely hungry.

The second principle is: EAT WHAT YOU WANT, Not What You Think You Should. Paul says that as soon as you deprive yourself of something you upset the natural balance of your relationship to them. Making any food 'forbidden' makes them more attractive to you.

Principle number three: Eat CONSCIOUSLY and enjoy every mouthful. This is about savouring your food and not wolfing it down. You know how you can open a bar of chocolate and the next thing you know it's gone? You can barely even remember eating? That's what Paul wants us to stop. Eat slowly, eat without distraction (TV, newspaper, magazine etc). Really TASTE your food. This helps your body to break down the food (saliva) and increases your feeling of satiety (you feel fuller and more satisfied).

Principle four: When You Think You Are Full, STOP Eating.

Happiness is remembering what I really want.
Laughter is the best medicine. The best things in life are free.

Learn to say 'no' to the good so you can say 'yes' to the best.

Dream with no action = wishful thinking
Action with no plan = chaos
Dream + action + persistence = success

I'm sticking with it - as I find it very helpful to get back on track when I fall off. I feel less guilt when I mess up... and I think I do get back on track quicker... although it still takes a while to properly get back on track. Working on making it more consistent for me. Thinking of ideas for myself... will share if I have an eureka moment.

That is a good price!

Today I'm starting day two of the Success Journal. I really love the theme of today. It is "The human body is the best picture of the human soul." by Ludwig Wittgenstein. Paul suggests that in order to help picture success, that we find a picture of someone or something that inspires us and carry it with us. What a great idea! I found a picture and put it on my cell phone.

Do you use the 90 Day Successful Journal?

I do. I used it before but fell off it over Christmas - I started again from the beginning two weeks ago.

The journal has tick boxes of the principles and a section for positive thoughts of that day and what you are looking forward to the next day. It also has a daily inspirational idea or thought. Plus a weekly check in to review how well you are doing.

I like it. Very cheap on Amazon. It helps to keep focussed.
