I was able to "sneak" in 505 swings today in between company visiting. Now, it's time to round up the kids and go visit mom in hospital. We were hoping she would have been doing well enough to move out of ICU, but no such luck - maybe tomorrow.

Thanks for your message regarding my mother in law. I'm definitely experiencing a roller coaster of emotions through all of this.

I tried some double bell work this morning. Even though I don't have 2 bells of identical weight, I used my 8kg and 12kg bells for some swings, snatches, squats and long cycles. I think I'm really going to feel it in my legs tomorrow!

Vicki sorry about your mother in law, hope she recovers. I know that can be very trying time, take care of you too.

We had a swing fest at training on Saturday and needless to say the squat swings he has us do at the end are still a reminder today.

7720 with today's swings in the am, I'll see what class brings today and than no class till Wednesday and I teach two classes than.

It's been a rough couple of days and I'm glad I was able to get some swings in this morning. Exercising always gives me a little "spark" to my day. Two days ago, my mother-in-law (that I'm very close to) had a stroke and has been pretty out of it since then. I was with her all day in the hospital yesterday and am getting ready to head there in a few minutes. She has always been very independent and would fight anyone that tried to help her - just the other week (after bringing her home from an eye appt that required getting a shot in her eye!), she got mad at me for not letting her help carry her groceries into her apartment... She practically assaulted me with her cane! So, recovering from her stroke and having to move into the assisted-living floor of her retirement-complex is going to be really hard - and that's assuming she even recovers enough to move into an assisted-living apartment.

Needless to say, having a few minutes of quiet time to swing this morning was very therapeutic.

That jump to a 16kg bell is a lot once you start doing longer lifts, I'm still trying to get comfortable. and some days it's great others I swear that's a 20kg bell. LOL

I did manage a few this am 200 more to add, have a great weekend.

Lovin my variety of bells :) 400 ths swings with 12, 16 and 20kg followed by a couple TGUs with the 16, then 100 snatches (goal was to do all 100 with 16kg, but only made it to 20 then finished off the remaining 80 with my 12kg)

I actually got up yesterday and completed a kettlebell workout to have a nice start to my day. We than finished for the most part the basement project so I can put my room back together, he did manage to break one of my mirrors I use to check my form but I can make it work with the one that's left. All in all a good day. I did more swings this am, congratulations on getting your 16kg.

Spent a half-hour swinging my new 16kg! I also tried some snatches and TGUs with the 16kg and they felt great - very challenging, but doable :)

225 swings today - the best part was swinging with my husband!! It's been years since he's used his kettlebells, but he's getting the "kettlebell-bug" again :) I've been helping him track his food since summer and he's been steadily losing 2 pounds per week, until a few weeks back... Now he's motivated to include exercise into his weight-loss goals!!! Yay! (He started at 375lbs and is now down to 320)

I have my entire gym downstairs and it's not that easy to move and I really don't want him too because he never puts things back the way they were. Not even sure if he is doing anything but complaining about it anyway. I think he just wasted money doing what he's doing but whatever. He needs to order duct work and get that project completed than we wouldn't have to waste time wrapping the duct work. MEN!

Anyways had an awesome training session last night and stayed and got in a few more swings this am, finished moving more stuff and did a workout to have in. Have a very Merry Christmas.

Lots of additional treats around the house = increased motivation to swing!!!

Too funny about having to move your stuff for your husband's project!!! My husband is off for the next 10 days and wants to tackle a project in our office, which also doubles as my workout space! Thankfully, relocating the kettlebells to swing somewhere else is an easy chore :)

Training was pretty intense on Saturday and I shoveled a lot of ice on Sunday. All in all a good weekend. This am I spent re arranging downstairs since Hubby thinks he has to do a project which will involve moving my stuff, not happy about it either.

Great job this month!!!

250 more swings completed this morning. The best part was that after all of my swinging (with my 20kg), I was able to successfully complete a TGU on both sides, unassisted, with the 20kg!

We did 400 in training and I accomplished 100 more this am. If I count snatches I can add 80 more. 5220. I need to train the snatch for speed again I'm feeling like all the work on the jerk and long cycle are taking their toll on my snatch sets. Next virtual will be the test.

I didn't go to class last night, instead I went grocery shopping and spent time with my brother since he was supposed to stay the week and they changed his schedule again to only be Monday and Tuesday instead. I'm glad I went home instead, I can workout pretty much every night if I wanted. I love the Bulgarian bag it's great. I will be teaching class and have an intro tonight so that will go well. The Bulgarian bag does sound very interesting (and COOL!)

Yesterday was a post-party recovery day :) I was out way too late on Saturday, but had a ton of fun and definitely burned off some calories with all the dancing.

Since I did a run today, I decided to just get in some short kb training for January's virtual. I did a 5 minute jerk with my 12kg just to see if I could do it, and I was happy with my results - I did make it for the full five minutes and did 26 jerks on each side. Then I finished up with 25 snatches on each side (so about 100 reps in all).

Sorry I haven't been posting just crazy busy especially with staring my schooling for personal training is coming as well. I can't wait to get certified.

Monday was crazy class since she had us do several sets of American swings (not my favorite by any stretch of the imagination) 490

Work stress sucks. Sorry to hear it's been so crappy - that kind of stress is the last thing anyone needs, especially around the holidays.

Yesterday was my birthday and since I had some free time, I chose to get in lots of swinging as a present to myself (instead of using the time to clean house, do laundry, etc...) I did 43 sets of 43 - mainly with my 12kg but I also incorporated my 20kg into the mix about every 4th set or so...

This morning I got in 151 reps to bring my December rep total to 2300.

I was hoping to get in a pull-up or two, but those will have to wait until my husband installs a pull-up bar in our garage - it's too cold and snowy for outdoor pull-ups.

Lots of crap going on at work, effect my whole life. Hoping that this week is less stressful. I taught Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I took class on both Friday and Satuday was able to get in 2000 more swings with all this for November. Nothing yet for December, I'm sure I'll get something in at class tonight.

9695 for November.

Jamie - I hope the past couple of days have been less stressful and lots more relaxing for you!

Between yesterday and today I got in my final 1100 swings to reach the 10,000 goal!

Looking forward to finishing the year with another month of swings :)

I did get in 500 more swings last night in training been a bit of a stressful week and with trying to improve my imbalances my swinging in the morning has been put on hold a bit, I don't want to feel anymore irrated than I am.

Got a little behind, but will catch up this weekend... Yesterday, I chose to run a 7-mile course instead of working out with kettlebells to get in one last long training run before my 10-K Turkey Trot race this Thursday. It's been a while since I've run that far, but I was able to do it just fine and I feel good for Thursday's race.

This morning I did a mix of 12kg ths and 20 kg ths for a total of 420 swings. Followed by some snatches with my 12kg.

Highlight of today, though - I did an unassisted TGU on each side with my 20kg!!! That lift has been pissing me off lately because I could do it several months ago, but lately I couldn't even get the bell off of my chest without assistance. But today, I did it!

Last night's strength class was a bunch more swings and snatches between both I got in 700 more. None this am, trying to take it easy this week to recover from Worlds.

Funny yesterday's class was a swing and snatch fest here as well I netted 700 total and felt that was a great 45 minute class, my class however kept asking if I was mad at them because I was making them work so hard. Funny.

I was up EXTRA early with my husband since he had an early flight, so I decided to use all of my "free" time to get in lots of exercising. I ended up doing 6 rotations of a swinging/snatching combination workout from Tracy Reifkind for a total of 45 minutes. (She finished in 42 minutes, but I couldn't keep up with her pace...)

Altogether, the workout totaled 660 swings and 330 snatches.

Great job Vicki, I took this am off from ths but have them planned for the workout. Not sure if I have intros or not tonight. I start training technique on Wednesdays as well so that will be fun. Have a great Tuesday.

Today I followed one of Lauren Brooks "favorite training sessions". It was a workout that was e-mailed to me and looked pretty fun - so I did it. And it was a good one!

Actually there are about 6 different ones going right now, IKFF is actually Steve Cotter and Ken Blackburn and work with another Russian. It's all kind of political in the way it works. I am getting my certified personal Training certificate through ISSA, I'm already a level 2 Kettlebell instructor which would be affiliated with IKFF. It's pricey is all I have to say. If you are ever in the area we will have to get together. My husband is actually setting me up for some personal training per say with some people he works with. They want to learn kettlebells.

I definitely agree about working with a certified kettlebell instructor. I'm embarrassed to admit that I've gone this far into kettlebells (even recommending to others how important it is to meet with a certified instructor), yet I've never worked with one... My husband and his best friend are the closest I've come to working with a trainer (and their expertise is from a little work with a trainer several years ago combined with hours of research/training/books/videos/etc). A few weeks back, I was very excited to learn that the CEO of StrongFirst (Mark Toomey) lives in my area, but it appears this is just his "homebase" and most of the StrongFirst classes/workshops are held elsewhere around the country/world... Too bad, because I'd really like to attend one of their workshops.

That is soooo cool that you are working on getting your personal trainer certification!! What type of certification are you planning to pursue? I've read a lot about StrongFirst and IKFF but am still a bit confused about their "differences" and why Pavel left to start StongFirst...

Today, I got in 100 swings (to warm-up) then 150 snatches focusing on my grip, descent and breathing, then another 50 swings.

There are actually 3 different kinds of swings you can do hard style, gs and than american which is what cross fit does a lot of. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish and I have trained in all 3 so it's an interesting perspective. I have actually had three intros in the past month who have trained using dvds from Pavel and actually have some really great technique, however each one of them said having the one on one was really the way to go. Live classes you get to feed off all the positive energy in the room and who doesn't like that. I know it may not be available but really if you can work with a certified kettlebell instructor it's the best way to learn. This is why competitons are so important to me because you are constantly improving your technique to achieve as much as possible with the most efficiency possible. I am really excited I am training with Ken Blackburn and Sincere Hogan this weekend as well, doing some body weight exercises and using the Bulgarian bag to learn more training technique. Next up getting my certification for personal trainer.
We achieved 200 swings in class and I managed 200 snatches this am 100 each arm with 25 swings added in. Getting prepped and ready.

Practice netted 300 reps and alot of overhead holds, ouch.

Today I got in 400 after doing my stretches that my massage therapist said I need to do a lot more of. I can't even do some of the stretches like they are on the paper but will keep at it to try and get there.
