Sharon, you give me too much credit. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis when I was 30 and my knees are cartilage-free these days so no more running for me. I'm a walker. I'm at 675 miles for the year, but I still have to get to 1,000 for my goal. I didn't enjoy running when I was doing it either.

5 minutes a day is quite doable. I'm also going to do 100 swings 5 times a week. That's on this team, I think. It's entitled SMART challenge.

I think that is a great idea!!!

WOW-6.5 miles-that is a lot of running!! I have been trying to get more running in, but I just can't seem to enjoy it.

How about 5 minutes per day of Kettlebell? I think I could do that on top of other workouts.
Some days I might do more KB's than that, but I should always be able to do 5 minutes each day.

Hi Sharon!

It's really hard to get in the swings AND do other fitness activities. Today, 6.5 miles but no KBs. There was no time and I was tired too.

I'd like to do something next month but I'm not thinking challenge. More like just setting a realistic goal and sticking to it. What do you think?

You are having a heck of a time with those sinuses. Hope they clear up soon!!

I am stilll getting some swings in, but I have not stuck to the numbers very well. I did elliptical last night and then about 6 minutes of KB. I felt like I had had enough at that point.

What will we do in September? emoticon

Finally swinging again. Got 100 swings in today, along with some see-saw presses. Only used the 15 lb KBs but I'm counting them. Stupid sinuses.

23 done last night, but it was a challenge: swings, cleans and presses and deadlifts.

I think I will do some farmer walks tonight. I have never done that before.

It is getting harder, but I am going to stick with it. I am setting the timer and doing as much as I can, including rest time.. I started not counting the rest period, but now I am counting it. Saves on going back and forth.

It's pretty hard to do anything AND kettlebells.
8/16 -- 16 min. swings, high pulls, around the world, figure 8s, cleans and snatches but I was half dead after walking only 4.5 miles!

After a 10 day vacation, I am ready to get back at it, but I did not keep up with the workouts on the trip. I did take the bells along, but they seemed to have difficulty getting out of the vehicle--lol.

It was a nice break, but now I need to make up for it.

I've noticed 2 things: the increase in time is so small that it doesn't feel harder and I'm not wearing myself out, but I am able to do more. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but I'm definitely making progress.

Is doing the KBs in one minutes daily + increments helping? Do you see a difference? My bone spurred left hip is finally not hurting me (much) anymore, and the muscles are finally healed enough to let me balance standing on the left leg. I think I can do 13 minutes of something tomorrow.

My August challenge is not very challenging in the beginning. This one is simple and easy (at least at first), so it's good for anyone who's a beginner or is recovering from illness or injury or is just getting back to kettlebells.

Starting August 1, 1 minute of swings. Then I'll add a minute to the workout every day through August 31, doing whatever: swings, presses, halos, twists--I may even try a TGU or two.

Challenge buddies welcome, of course!
