I deal with paper bills immediately - make a reminder in my phone and computer to pay on specified dates, enter relevant information onto schedule for tax purposes, and file the paperwork immediately. This takes no more than 10minutes and does not happen every day.

Every year I shred and/or burn outdated paperwork no longer required for Tax, general interest, or clients.

Junk Mail goes straight into my recycle box - never even gets inside the house - and I take a walk to the recycle bins at the school at the end of the road as soon as the bag is full.

I am doing this one, one room at a time. Started with my living room. It's the room all new coming things seem to go in.

To cut paper clutter, I pay things electronically as much as possible. There is a great service called checkfree.com. https://mycheckfree.com/br/wps?rq=bfmp&eve

Week one: Let's start with the paper trails, piles, junk mail, manuals, warranties, sales receipts, etc. Paper clutter begets paper clutter. It becomes a tiger and gets you by the tail. Somehow it takes over all free spaces if a system is not worked out.

Recommended: gather all your paper into 3 boxes: toss, shred and to file/take care of.
Next: have a mail station where you can take care of bills, scan and/or file.

Mastered the paper tiger? Have some methods that work? Please inspire the rest of us. Plan to participate? Please share your challenge and progresses.
