I didn't reach my goal completely, although I made some good progress. My eating habits are definitely getting back on track and I'm getting better about curbing my urge to eat when I study. I'm looking forward to continuing my progress with the next challenge!

Did anyone reach their October goal?

Unfortunately, I did not. I am in a plateau that I have to break! My goal is to breakthrough it in November.

Ladies,

Calories are coming to town in the next few months. What are you going to do to stay on track?

I've still beed doing well with my eating, I've even loosened up on tracking because I know I have been eating healthy. I just think of having to log everything before I eat it and it keeps me away from those foods that I know should not be on my nutrition tracker! I also did Tae Bo last night and I am nice and sore today! It felt so great. So tonight I am going to do some yoga to try to stretch out the sore muscles. Being on track feels great!

I only managed to get back on track with my calories last week but have been running about once a week(my hips and knees have been aching after a run)for the past couple of weeks. I lost 4lbs. Trying to keep the momentum this week.

I haven't been posting this challenge, sorry! I haven't gone MIA again, I'm just super busy! I'm doing well at staying on track. I'm not working out as much as I would like now that I live further from the gym, but I am eating well and losing weight!

Last night we went out to dinner and I made sure to order the smallest portion of steak and then didn't even eat all of it. I didn't feel overly full when we left, it felt great!

I am sorry, but I cannot say no to chocolate during that TOTM. I do not deprive myself of chocolate. I just try to eat it in moderation.

Pretty much - but the antioxidants and stuff are good for you. Use Dove Dark Chocolate pieces; they are 40 calories per piece, I think.

Well, I threw myself off the wagon for a bag of almonds - dumb, I know.

So, this morning I got up, made my food plan for the day and went off to Curves.

I have learned that I must NOT eat almonds, at the moment.

Thanks for the encouragement. Part of the problem is that I have alot on my plate right now. My daughter is in the process of moving home. I am very excited about that, but there is so much that needs to be done. She has a lot of stuff!! Need to get it all organized and put some where!!!! Before she arrived, I had to clean out bedroom and paint. Some of the stuff had to go into her brother's room, so thought it should also be painted before moving stuff into it. It was in need of painting also. We worked on getting some of the stuff moved into her room today, but there is still so much to do. It will all get put away and I have to just relax and let it happen. I want the work to be done, so we can start bonding!!

What is holding me back. I am all out of sink. I need to focus on mind, body and spirit, so that I can get back in balance. I have been making terrible food choices, slacking off on the workouts and spiritually, I am disconnected. So far this week, I have gotten in 12.5 miles on the bike and 5 miles on the treadmill. It felt great. Spiritually, I am trying to focus on this aspect. My food choices need some work.

emoticon LYNSEY723!

It's easy for me to distracted or give into temptation when I'm in social settings or when I'm away from home. Case in point... the trip I am on right now. I find that I overreward myself for the progress that I am making which ends up putting me back in the same place I started. I also end up putting obligations to others before things I do for myself like working out.

I need to stay focused on me!

I allow myself to get caught up with weddings, holidays, and vacations to distract me and get me off track. Now, I am going to schedule times to workout in order to tone up and lose my last 20 pounds. I refuse to gain that weight back! I am going to continue to press forward!

What's holding me back is my comfort eating. I need to change my mindset from living to eat, to eating to live. I have lost weight before, but slowly, but I gain it back so much quicker.I don't know if I'm wodering if it's worth it because I'll just put on any weight I've lost, so end up sabotaging myself.

I'm a little late joining this challenge because I was on VACATION! YAY!!!! It was fabulous and although I didn't lose any weight, I didn't gain either!!! So, for the last 1/2 of the month my goal is to stay on track with calories and exercise, even though it is getting cold and icky out!

WHat's been holding me back?

I believe seriously that when I made my goals my mind set wasn't right. I had all the wrong reasons I think. And without a plan it's easy to fail. I think some of my goals weren't based on something that I could actually do in the time frame I specified, but I wanted to be on the bandwagon. I wasn't willing to do the work. But it's got to change now.

Money, time and laziness.
Money because I have to be frugal with my grocery budget. For example: I got 2 roasting chicken for .69/lb. Good choice, right? NO - they were injected with up to 15% sodium broth. Therefore, I'm back where I was Friday - 273.6.
Time because I believe I need to do this as slowly as my body takes it, so I don't lose the weight in an unhealthy way, and so that I don't have even more ugly, hanging skin when I'm done.
Laziness because even though I got to Curves for 45 minutes 3 times a week, and do a 2 mile walk on three other days, I could be a whole lot more active - but I don't feel like it. The treadmills are broken in my complex, it aggravates me to walk pointlessly around the local mall, and I just "don't feel like" going outside and roaming the complex. Grr!

That's absolutely right. Only we can do what we are called to do. We are worth it and it is up to us to accomplish this. We all can do it!

Ladies,

Please periodically let us know how you're doing. Since it is a little cooler here in Ohio, I am going out for an afternoon run, because I love how running makes me feel. It really helps me to clear my head. Additionally, I will be lifting weights today as well. I will check back in later on today with an update!

So, let's encourage one another as well get back on track this month!

Sincerely,

I want to concentrate on getting back to me. It has been a hectic summer and I have really gotten off track. I can not believe how BAD I have been!! I want to forget about what I have not done over the past two months and get back to what makes me feel great. I will start with accountabliity, logging on every day, drinking 8 glasses of water, and 30 minutes of exercise. I want to accomplish a 6 pound weight loss this month.

Now, that my conference is over at the church, I can really concentrate on myself. I want get back into running as well as strength training for 3 days/week. Today, I will be taking a cardio/strength training class at church, which will last about an hour! This should help me jump start my progress. I want to accomplish at 5 pound weight loss this month!

I've been giving this a lot of thought and my reason for not being where I would like to be, weightwise is that I haven't been focusing and I haven't been accountable. I have been really good at making excustes. Time for a reality check! So, for the next 24 days, I WILL do the following:

1. Journal every day. Doesn't matter the food value, it will be recognized.
2. I will drink 8 glass of water every day.
3. I will exercise for a minimum 90 minutes every week. This equals 3 sessions of 30 minutes. Yes, its light but its real, for this month.
4. I will report my daily accomplishments and challenges to this group, at least 5 times a week.
5. If I do these things, I will reward myself with a massage on the first weekend on November.

Looking foward to these 24 days,
Steph

This month, I really need to focus on nutrition, specifically staying in my calorie range. My aerobic activity has been up, but that doesn't mean I get to eat more! With that said, my goal is to stay in calorie range at least 5x week and to avoid night time eating out of boredom or stress.

In order to do this, I am planning to eat breakfast every day, pack my lunch and snacks before I go to school, and limit eating out.

So far, I've been in my calorie range almost every day. I had two days where I missed the mark and went over. Of course, these happened to be when I ate out by boyfriend. I know that if I'm going to eat out, I need to plan my day out ahead and make good menu choices when possible.

My first question had to be: what do I want to accomplish this month?

As far as weight goes, I wanted to break 275 by 10/15. emoticon

I accomplished that goal this morning - Go me!!
Next, I'd like to reach 270 by 11/1.
To do that, I will continue to do Curves MWF for 45 minutes, and do 30 minutes minimum of aerobic work on TThSat. This might be WATP, or a walk within my complex.
I will also continue to eat within my Sparkpeople calorie range, and log EVERYTHING I eat - no exceptions.
I will also continue to work through the Beck Diet Plan book, one day at a time.

On other front, this month I wanted to see where I stood with Advent/Christmas things. I did that Friday.

I also wanted to see what clothes I will need for the winter. Took care of that yesterday. I should be good to go, except for a pair or two of shoes.

Have a great day, ladies. Trece

I've been working on my goals for the month, too. I've stayed within my calorie range - the low end, even, every day but one when I chose to go a bit over to keep my body guessing. Also have been getting in at least a walk every day and doing a lot of stairs at work (mostly down, but down 21 flights). This past week I got in about 270 minutes of cardio which equated into almost 1700 calories burned!!

I have been working on my goals for the month -

1. Use the strength training equipment at the rec center three days each week (M, W, F) (the various machines work all the major muscle groups - arms, legs, and abs)

2. Get in at least 60 minutes of aerobice Monday through Saturday) and a walk in the neighborhood on Sunday

3. On all days except Sunday, have over 10,000 steps on my pedometer.

4. Stay within my calorie range (currently 1650-2000) each day. Some days on the low side, some on the high side.

5. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.

Well, now that my conference is over at my church, which utterly phenomenal, I can concentrate on getting back into shape. I want to get back into those 3 days of strength training and 5-6 days of cardio. It's my time to focus on getting the remainder of this weight off.

SHER65,

I would like to get back into my running as well. What do you say about doing something together prior to winter starting? Let me know what you think!

Good to hear that you are back on track, HEPPME! It does seem to make it more difficult when you cant exercise but at least you're doing better with the eating this week. Hang in there!

My goal this month is to get my focus back. I've had 'spasms in the upper dorsal muscles' which is doctor speak for my neck and upper back hurting. I was not able to work out, which could have been okay but I chose to eat during those times when I had been exercising. Bad choice, my choice. Today is another day and I've been doing well this week.

For October I will concentrate on using my WATP videos, in addition to Curves. I will do this by: doing the 1 mile MWF, in the afternoon after Curves,
and the 2 mile TThS.

Stevie!

We all know how that is. I was doing better before my vacation and graduation, but ever since that one trip I have gone backwards. Time to do some serious BUTT KICKING!

My goal this month is to exercise and strength train more consistently. With the wedding in August and a vaction in September, I was really thrown off. Plus, I want to get out of 140-ville this month!

My goal this month is to do some sort of exercising every day for 15 minutes. If I can start doing it daily then maybe I can build up the time to more.

J_Rubin: I would love to keep in touch and help motivate each other.

I'm in!! My goal for this month is to exercise more consistantly. Instead of trying to carve out 30-60 minute blocks of time (which obviously hasn't been working) I will incorporate 10 minutes of strength training in DAILY. If I can make this stick as part of my morning routine, I can get into a healthy mindset early in the day that will hopefully affect the rest of my choices all day long.

Anyone with the same goal who wants to keep in touch, drop me a note! Good luck everyone!!

I regained almost 10 pounds after traveling this summer for a few months. I'm working out regularly again, but am struggling to stay in my caloric range.

This month, I'm going to focus on getting my eating habits back on track. Hopefully, I'll start to lose again once my eating is more controlled.

I dropped out for several weeks. It just seemed like there was always something that needed to be done. Right now I am looking forward to my daughter moving back home and once that is done, I can focus on me again. I have been missing that. I am looking forward to this new challenge to get back on track. I am not looking forward to getting on the scale emoticon I'm sure I will be depressed after that, but it is time to get real again. Counting down the days.

Welcome back, LANEY12 - and good luck with losing that 7 pounds. Just know that if you did it once, you can do it again!

STEVIEBEE- I am going to spend the month of October working on late night eating AND on drinking more thab 64 oz of water each day. I do pretty good with the water until I get so busy that I forget to get in at least 64, so the goal is to get that in PLUS at least 8 more every day. And the late night eating is one I've struggled with for many years, so its an ongoing battle.

Hi, I haven't been on this team in a while because I met my weight loss goal and have been trying to maintain. Well, since then I have gained about 7 pounds back. So this month I want to be rid of those 7 pounds once and for all. I am going to focus on staying in my calorie range.

Everyone,

I want each of you to look at your weight loss goals for this year and reevaluate why you have yet to meet your goals as of September 2007. Is one of your goals to workout for 3 or 5 days consistently? Maybe, you wanted to drink 8 8-oz. of water daily, but having difficulty accomplishing this. Well, this is your opportunity to focus on only one goal for this month in order to make it habit. Additionally, this is your chance to recover after any stumble you have taken in past challenges. This is your time to really focus on you and what will it take for you to succeed and lose the weight. Are you ready to be honest with yourself and move forward to achieving at least one of your goals this year? Well, it is completely up to you and you alone to accomplish this! Once more, I keep trying to tell each of you that you are well worth the time and the effort. However, only you can come to this realization and do something about it. Are you up for this challenge? I believe you are! Do you?
