I'm going to get on board for this week's exercise challenge, because I have to release some of this stress from last week! Ugh!

So far, so good. Exercised everyday so far and barring injuries should be able to fit in routine both Thursday and Friday. Might have to skip Saturday but at least I'll get all my points this week.
Have a Good Weekend.

I'm still here too! Fruits & Veggies just aren't my thing. I need to get more than I do, but at this point my goal is to get 5 total/day. I haven't been meeting that very well either.
Exercise I can do. I have a similar goal on another challenge I signed up on, 5% Challenge. I found it through the WOAM posts. Are either of you doing that too?

Stevie, I want to reiterate what Karen posted about appreciating all your efforts. It's great to have a motivated leader!

Stevie,

How about a push-up challenge...doing so many each day, or doing strength training 3 times a week; walking from one point to another each day that you wouldn't usually (ex: park the car farther away, take the stairs, walk somewhere that you would usually drive, etc) It must be hard to think up these challenges! Thanks for keeping at it. Hope I stirred some brainstorming for you.

I was hoping we would get some participation in these weekly challenges! What should we do? Give me some ideas!

I am still here Stevie. This weeks challenge is just not one that I can do. I am still in my calorie range and have been losing. My exercise is still going strong too. So, I'm here but just too many veggies and fruits for me to get in.

Thanksgiving wasn't so good for me from a diet perspective but had a great weekend seeing family. My sister-in-law made everyone go for a walk after the big turkey dinner, the next morning she got up and went running while everyone else was still asleep. She's helped inspire me to get going with more exercise and eating right.

Congrats Laney. emoticon !!!

Hope everyone else is doing just as well. Eating 5 fruits and veggies is a big deal for me so don't think I'll be making points this week, but I'll give it a try.

Have a Good Week WOAMers.

I am SO proud of myself! I ran my Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning despite the fact that the friend I was supposed to run it with couldn't make it. I didn't drink any alcohol or eat any dessert on Thanksgiving and I had one plate of proportioned food. The next morning I was down a pound! Who loses weight the day after Thanksgiving. I was so happy and proud. I have been doing really well with my exercise and eating this week that I finally feel that I am back on track! Yeah!!

How was Thanksgiving for everyone else?

Sednad-I find that I do SO much better with my weight loss if I track my food. I use the SP tracker and while it is a chore once I get most of my usuals in it then it is much faster to use. But it really gets me back on track when I use it seriously.

I have finally gotten back on track. I got there on Monday. I have been tracking all of my food and keeping up with my running. I am feeling so much better already...DUH!

Hope everyone else is doing well. I am mentally preparing myself for Thanksgiving dinner. I have done it before I can do it again. I try to remember that I am there for family not for food. And there are plenty of healthy options. One year I was so afraid of going over my calorie range that when I tracked my food I found that I was under my calories! On Thanksgiving Day??? How does that happen?? So aiming to have a nice proportioned healthy turkey dinner. Good luck to everyone! We can do this.

Welcome Tara and Good Luck with all your goals.
Are you new to Spark or just to WOAM?
Look forward to getting to know you.

Today was really good for me. I altered my plan a bit but I wrote everything down; made good swaps; and stayed in my calorie range! Probably the toughest 5 points I've made this challenge.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Watch those portions!

I feel like last week did not go so well for me and today I'm off to a bad start to the week. Do you know how many calories those bread bowls are from Domino's? They make it seem reasonable but a serving is only half the bowl. DH and I have split them before but tonight we had delivery and each had our own -- after having done so well for lunch. We made a nice healthy salad with a handful of crackers.

Well, tomorrow is another day. I read an article that said dieters who write down their food lose more weight. I find it such a chore that I can't make a habit of it, but maybe for the next week I'll give it a try.

Hope Everyone has a good week. Watch those portions!

This has been a bad week for me water-wise. Six glasses is the most I've gotten so unless things change tomorrow, no points for me this week. emoticon

This has just been a weird week for me though. Usually 6 glasses of H20 is my minimum.
Dierdre, I use to drink a lot of coffee too. Cut down to 2 cups daily when I started getting migraines. One thing that works for me when I'm out is that I make myself drink one glass of water for every alcoholic beverage I have. Maybe you could try the same thing with coffee. Fill the cup and glass at the same time. No refills on the coffee until the water is gone too.

Give it a try and Good Luck.

I'm having a rough one this week with drinking water, but I don't know why. I drink about 10 cups of coffee a day, I wish I could trade my coffee for water, but I always fill the cup and not the water bottle! I need to quit drinking caffeine, but the more I try, the more I end up drinking the coffee. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tend to drink the coffee until about 3, then guzzle the water at night, but I need to drink it throughout the day and slowly get off the coffee!

Good Job with your goals everyone. Stevie, for this week's challenge, are we counting only straight water or any liquid? I usually just count water but I know some people don't drink plain water and they count other beverages (like Crystal Light, non-sweetened juice, etc.). I try for 6 glasses water and then treat myself to low cal gatorade or sometimes even soda to get my last 2 glasses. I would think everyone can "adjust" how they can according to how they drink. For instance, Anne should count every cup of tea.

I would add that I never count coffee because it's a dehydrator. Ditto for alcoholic beverages; for each beer or wine, you should drink extra water.

Good Luck WOAMers.

I got 25 points for week #1 personal goal. I'm also happy to say that I did my strength training workout 5 days. On Friday, I took an unscheduled day of rest, but I made up for it by doing a double workout on Saturday. I did my upper body workout from Friday, plus my core and lower body workout from Saturday. Today is a scheduled day of rest.

I don't think I can do the water challenge, as I'm continuing with my goal of drinking 3 cups of green tea every day. With the fact that its winter - I seem to require less water in winter - plus the fluids from the cups of tea - I just don't think I'll be drinking 8 cups of water.

Well, I almost did it. I feel very proud that I went 5 days without eating any Halloween candies or other sweets. I've been very good and I'm not sure I'm going to "count" my lapse tonight. I do shift work and I'm on 4pm to midnights. Tonight someone called in unavailable for the midnight shift so I said I'd do a double. I called home to see if my hubbie would bring me meals to get me through the night. He wasn't home so I left a message hoping he'd call back and I could tell him what I wanted. He acted on his own and brought me a great meal with some extras -- actually most of it is healthy: subway sandwich with lots of veggies, craisins, whole wheat crackers, but he also "treated" me to a Reese's pb cup. What can I say? It's midnight and halfway through 16 hours of work; I couldn't resist. At least it will keep me from the poptarts later, which would actually be much worse!

Wow, I've rambled along quite a bit and only talked about me. Sorry. Hope you're all doing well with Week #1 personal goals.

Dierdreadar, that's great that you have so many people doing the hundreds program! And working on a 5K group?! Just fantastic. I'm glad I could plant that seed in your mind. =D Good luck!

I've only missed my strength training on Wednesday this week, assuming I get in my workout tonight. About to hit the treadmill first. I tried to do C25K last night, but legs were just having none of it, so I'm doing it tonight instead.

If not now, when?

Well, I did go for a 4 mile walk last night so I am happy with that. However, I just finished a piece of Halloween candy...ugh! I also just realized that I am PMS-ing. What was I thinking with this chocolate goal??? Not the right week for it. I ran 3 miles today on the treadmill. So I am definitely keeping to my exercise and really not doing too bad with eating.

I continue forward! :)

Ok, so keeping my goal has been a little hard this week. I should have known myself a little better being that I have two huge bags of Halloween candy. But, I have not eaten any chocolate yesterday and so far today. I think I am going to make it today. Ha, Ha! I did eat pizza tonight which I could have done without but I am going to go out for a walk with a neighbor after putting the kids to bed. And that walk is in addition to the running I am doing so anything extra is bonus! I already have my goal in mind for next week and looking forward to doing better than this week.

p.s. - Blue Blazes, thank you for mentioning that 100 pushup challenge in a previous post. I asked a bunch of people at my office to join me in the challenge and so far I have 10 people and counting doing the pushups, sit-ups and squats! They have been so motivated this week they asked if I would put together a challenge to compete in a 5K run in the spring! That's amazing because we are all accountants, so to go from sedentary to wanting to join a 5K is a huge step, and great motivation to keep going during our 9 month winter here in the mountains!

I love being a part of this team! Everyone is so positive whether they make it for the day or not, not to mention there is a lot of activity and participation! I have done pretty good with my goal this week. I am on a gazelle team, and most of them have been doing 30 minutes a day, so it has pushed me to join them in 30 minutes a day rather than the 10 in my goal. I am starting to feel more energized and actually looking forward to working out! I think it is helping a lot with my studying too because I have gotten 100% on my last two tests since I have been active on this team's challenges! I am also not as tired at work. I have two jobs and work 60 hours a week. I am thinking I will be able to switch my caffiene habit for exercise if it keeps up!

I'm doing great so far: upper body yesterday and Sunday, core on Monday, and planning to do a lower body workout later tonight. Much better than I did in the last week of our habit building challenge. =)

I didn't get off to a very good start. My personal goal is to drink 3 cups of green tea every day, and I only managed one cup on Sunday and Monday. But Tuesday I finally did it - First thing in the morning I put 3 tea bags on my desk to remind me.

Well, so far so good. That candy bowl is getting smaller but not because I've been in it. Twice today I almost reached for a bar and stopped myself. I just walked away. Feels really good but tomorrow I'm upping the challenge for myself. If I start to fade and want a sweet, I'm going to do at least 10 situps and keep going until I don't want that sweet.
I will make it through this challenge. One day at a time until it turns into one week. Before you know it, we'll be through the holidays.

Dierdre, the time change has really messed with me too. I do shift work and went from days to nights over the weekend. At 5:00pm today I was thinking it was around 10pm! Ugh! Don't let it get you down. Our bodies are amazing things. You'll adjust and be back in the swing before you know it.

How is everyone doing? I kinda fell off the wagon yesterday, I was studying for a test and reading a chapter in my textbook and literally fell asleep! I couldn't believe it! So I missed one day, didn't study, and didn't get my test done that I wanted, but I did complete it today. I think the time change where I live really messed with me. Hope you are all doing great! Sounds like a good start to a challenge. =) I know I need to work on being consistent with my strength training, running, stretching and as much as I hate it, tracking my food.

Let's make some great things happen by the new year! There's nothing stronger than a woman on a mission! ;)

If not now, when?

I NEED A CHALLENGE!

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. Therefore, honor God with your body.

I am so in! Been gone for a while. I have Fibromyalgia and was going thru some major pain. It was even hard to walk. On a new medication and starting to feel a bit better. Have to get back to moving my body and this challenge is the perfect time to get back in the swing of things. Weekly challenge is a great idea. Thank you, Stevie. Just what I needed.

So do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you.

Ladies,

Let try our best to make it a priority to connect with one another in order to stay motivated, especially during the holidays where we sometimes lose control.

Ladies,

Let's use this forum to communicate throughout the next two months! Also, it's okay to have the same personal challenge this week!

Let's do this together!

Weekly mini challenges - ABSOLUTELY! I am with you 100%.

I love weekly challenges because they help to keep me interested and motivated. And even if I really hate the challenge of the week, well it's only a week and I can do one week.

Women on a Mission,

I saw a challenge with the same title on another Sparkteam and I thought it would be great for us to accomplish. However, we are going to do weekly challenges throughout the upcoming months until December 31st. I will be posting weekly challenges to help get us through the holidays. Also, I am hoping this will boost our motivation and activity with one another. I hope you will join me in the challenge for the next two months by doing weekly mini-challenges! The challenge starts November 1st through December 31st! Whose with me?
