I cannot believe I made it a full 21 days without soda! The temptation was so great, but I loved this challenge. It kept me thinking of just my one thing, instead of all the hundreds of health changes I want to make. I also didn't realize how much of a hold the dumb soda had on me, this was a real eye opener. if soda was this hard to break, I wonder what the rest of my bad habits or needed good habits will be like? I am so on for another 21 day challenge though! Baby steps worked great for me!

I LOVED this 21-day habit challenge, and I would LOVE to do another one, and I think I'll keep going with my strength training. This week I was just pathetic, ha!

So yes. Full steam ahead. =)

I failed miserably in this last 21-day challenge!! I am ready to try another one! This time I am going to try to track my food every day as well as my old challenge of hitting the gym 5 days a week.

I'm still working on my first habit, trying to get 21 consecutive days. But I think I only missed 3 days so far in this challenge, and that's not too bad. So as of yesterday I added strength training as my next 21 day habit. I'm going to continue habit #1 (stretching 10-15 minutes every day) and adding habit #2 (strength training 20 minutes every day alternating muscle groups)

Ladies,

Do you wish to do another 21-day Habit challenge? You can either work on your current challenge or you can change your habit for the next 21 days. Let me know if you wish to change the challenge!

Thx,

Stevie

I am on Day 6 of my streak for stretching every morning 10-15 minutes.

So this morning, after weeks of procrastination, I finally started strength training again. I did a 30 minute upper body workout. Tomorrow I will do lower body. I have to do something every day in order to make it a habit. 2 or 3 days a week just doesn't cut it - it gives me too much opportunity to procrastinate. So first thing in the morning, every morning, I'm planning on doing some strength training.

I did my stretching Sunday morning and today Monday morning. That makes 3 days in a row. I think to really make it a habit it will have to be 21 consecutive days, at about the same time every day. So that's what I'm working towards. I'm on 3 consecutive days right now.

Okay, Ladies, It's time to press in. This is our last week on the 21-day challenge. How are we doing on forming better lifestyle choices? I had a few weak moments, because on my job they brought in cupcakes this past Saturday for Sweetest Day! Overall, I've been doing okay. It can definitely be better though.

Let's keep up the good work!

After missing two days, I finally got my act together on Saturday and did a 10 min stretch after my morning workout. I figure I really have to keep starting over ... it won't be a HABIT until I can get 21 days in a row.

Jessica, my scale has finally started moving again, too! I'm finally back under 220, and much closer to an accurate ticker. =D

Reeeeeeally tempted to take an off day today, because my abs are still feeling Thursday's workout. I did a TON of crunches! But that's why I'm alternating days. I don't have to work my abs today, just my legs, and I will. =)

45 minutes on Wednesday and 30 minutes on Friday. Missed out on Thursday. I have been having a very hard time with allergies this fall. It has been raining here for days and yesterday I was physically drained. Felt like a truck ran over me. Will be going to an allergist next month. Hope I can get some help!!

I've managed to hit the gym 4 times this week with my goal being 5. I just have to get there today and I will have done it!! I hope to go this weekend as well for a little bit of cardio. I'm slowly seeing the numbers drop on the scale, I hope I can keep it up and be at my goal by the new year... that way my resolution can be to MAINTAIN instead of LOSE!!

Great job everybody! Have a great weekend!!

I was not feeling too well last night, and this morning I was still feeling like I was coming down with something. So I blew off the stretching. I should not have done that...and now I'm feeling better but it's likely that I will not stretch. It seems like if I don't do it in the morning, then I won't do it at all. It's early in the day, so there's still a CHANCE, but I have plans for tonight and it seems pretty unlikely that I'll find the time to warm up and stretch before going out.

Well I did not stretch this morning, and if I wanted to stretch tonight I'd either have to do some warm up exercises or take a hot shower. I guess I'm going to skip it tonight. I just do not feel motivated.

Well, hit the gym again yesterday... that's 3 days this week, 2 more to go! These next 2 will be harder for me because I don't have training sessions. Yesterday he worked me so hard I'm having a hard time walking!! My butt is soooo sore! I plan to do some walking/jogging on the treadmill today. Sounds like everybody is doing well, keep up the good work!! emoticon

I made it to the gym yesterday. I spent some time in the sauna trying to releive my back muscles that are all messed up due to stress. I did 10 minutes on the treadmill and met with my trainer. I plan to hit the treadmill for a little bit today as well.

Making out a little template here so I can know what I'm doing. Friday I took an off day, which really I shouldn't because as long as you're alternating muscle groups, you don't have to take a full rest day, so I'm going to try to keep 'off days' to a minimum. Then, uh, I sorta skipped on Saturday. I made up for it though! I did both upper and lower body yesterday. Today is core.

I'm slacking... Friday I got to the gym for my workout and didn't have socks... I was so mad!! There was no way I was going to try to run without socks! So I ran my errands and just went home. I knew I wouldn't be able to workout this weekend as I was working 16 hour days. But I have training scheduled today, so I will be there for sure! I am determined to make it to the gym all 5 days this week, possibly though the weekend as well to make up for what I skipped last week.

Great job everybody!!!

Day 8. We drove to Bar Harbor today. We are here visiting Acadia National Park until Wednesday. Anyway, with the all-day drive, I didn't get any exercise. And I have not stretched for 10 minutes, which is my 21 day habit. It's late and now I just don't feel like it. So I'm skipping today.

I have a whole week without soda! I thought I was picking a very easy habit to lose, but I have found that I am just as addicted to diet soda as I am to junk food. I wanted to start with something small and easy so I wouldn't give up, but I guess even the simple ones can be difficult. Amazing!

Good job everyone with your goals!!!

How was everyone's first week? I hope everyone is doing well! Please share!

I really need to press in with my Eating Clean Lifestyle. It definitely was not easy this week, because right after work, I had a conference at church! My eating was great during the day and afternoon. However, at night, it was a different story. Now the conference is over and I have no more excuses!

Day 6: Completed my 30 minutes of cardio this morning. I have to really watch it this weekend so I don't let the day get away from me without my 30 minutes!

Great job everybody! Anne, good to hear that you can tell a difference! I need to start stretching too... Way to go!

I had training again yesterday... I also logged 2.5 miles on the treadmill before my session. I will get there today and I'm going to TRY for 5 miles in an hour. Hopefully I can do it!! I am finally starting to drop some weight... After starting my training all the time I wasn't losing anything! I've dropped a little bit the past 2 days. WOOHOO!

Day 6: did 15 minutes of stretching following my workout. It's been a long time since I committed to stretching daily, and it's amazing at how little effort - just 10 to 15 minutes - has such a quick and significant payoff. I am noticing how much more limber I am, especially in the back and hips. Improving every day.

So, I didn't do a video yesterday, but I did do my strength training! 3 sets of 10 wall pushups, and don't my arms feel worked out today. =)

Today is my core workout, so I'll be working on that a little later.

Yay, for good habits! =)

If not now, when?

Well I missed Tuesday... I got there and didn't have my lock for my locker, and after having a bad day I decided it was a sign that I should just go home! Wrong thing to do, but it's what happened! I had training yesterday, did 30 min. of cardio first. I have training again today as they were unable to get me in tomorrow. I'll do another 30 min. of cardio first then meet with the trainer. I will hit the gym for a little bit tomorrow before I run all of my errands to prepare for this weekend when I will not be leaving work at all.

Sounds like everybody is doing great. Keep up the good work!!!

Day 5: I did an additional 45 minutes yesterday to make up for missing Monday. Does that count? I also did 30 minutes this morning on the treadmill.

Sounds like everyone is doing great. Myself??? I missed my cardio yesterday after working all day and then going to the doctor to find out I have a viral infection so I took it easy. I did get up this morning though and got my 30 minutes in today.

Day 3 is in the bag! I have not had a soda and I have been drinking a lot of water. I didn't even finish my coffee this morning, I drink it black but I usually drink about 8 cups a day. I never finished the first cup I poured. I think my body is craving the water right now, I guess I have been depriving it.

Looks like everyone has some pretty great ideas for the challenge. Yay! What with some bad season change sniffles I've been fighting off, I've been slacking, so I'm getting started a couple days late, but at least I'm getting started!

Lower body today, and here's the video I did: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness

Stevie and FHG, how's the clean eating?

Ella_Bear, I LOVE pilates, but hardly ever do it lately. Think I'll throw in some moves for my strength training challenge. How's yours going?

Almost everyone has checked back in with progress, which is great! Keep it up and we'll all be a little healthier when it's time to slip into Halloween costumes! =)

If not now, when?

My goal is to do cardio 5 days a week, and I got in 25 minutes yesterday before my training appointment. I will go today and get in at least 30 minutes. I actually jogged 4 miles on Saturday, so I'm hoping I can get that momentum again! Yesterday I was not feeling the cardio... I couldn't even jog 1/2 a mile!

Way to go everybody!!

I'm a little late getting started with this challenge, but I will challenge myself not to eat after 8pm and do some kind of exercise each day even if it is only for 5 minutes.

I completed day 2 of 30 minutes of cardio. I do find that if I do it right away in the morning, my intensity is much greater. So.... I slept in this morning. emoticon which means I will be looking to fullfill my 30 minutes for today...tonight! Hope everyone else is doing well!

Monday was day 2. I did some stretching at the office around lunchtime (standing stretches) and did additional stretching at home in the evening. Stretching at the office was really helpful in relieving the tension that builds up in my upper back while working on the computer. But I think I can really only stretch my legs and lower back when I'm really warm, like right after a workout, or after a hot shower. I'm going to have to tweek my plans to see when is the best time for me to stretch. The best way to make this a habit is to do it at the same time every day. I'm more flexible at night, but I think the best time to stretch and make it a habit is in the morning.

Today is day two without soda, I am hoping to keep going! I had a rough time last night, I got really stressed out and wanted one so bad. I had no idea that soda was a comfort food for me, it was an eye opener! I am doing pretty good on water consumption, but I am only half way to my 64 oz. total for the day.

My challenge will be to stop drinking soda and swap it for water. I drink about 64 oz. of diet soda everyday (it's free at both my jobs!) and this will also give me my 8 glasses of water I need, so it's a two for one! I am taking a health and nutrition class right now and it said that drinking diet soda can condition you to eat more sweets rather than satisfying your sweet tooth (huge problem for me), and has been linked with the thinning of hip bones as well as numerous other health risks.

My challenge is going to be to make it to the gym 5 days a week for those 3 weeks. I am going to try for 7 days a week with yoga on the weekends, but I may have a couple double shifts next weekend that will keep me from doing workouts those 2 days. I am trying to keep that in mind so that I can plan around it. But my overall goal is to workout 5 days a week. I really need to get back into things!!!

Excellent! I'm definitely going to work on strength training with the Spark videos. I'll alternate upper body, lower body, and abs twice a week, with one day off. I'll post a link to the video I did in here every day I do one, so if you don't see a link, come harass me. =)

I already know the habit I am going to work on for 21 days starting on Sunday! I am going to work on Eating Clean, which is a lifestyle. So, I started it off and I want you to hold me accountable.

Ladies,

Starting this upcoming Sunday, we are going to do a weekly challenge for October. The challenge will end up being a 21-day habit challenge. Starting Sunday, we are going to work on one challenge for 21 days in order for it to become a healthy habit. However, you are going to create the self-imposed challenge and you are going to do it for 21 days. Your challenge can be drinking eight 8-oz. of water, increase your servings of veggies to 5 servings a day, etc. So you have the next 3 days to think about the habit you want to work on. Please post it to the October Challenge Forum. We will hold each other accountable by checking in on the forum. You can check in daily, every other day, or weekly. My hope is this challenge will help us get back to business regarding our weight loss journeys.

Remember the challenge will be for 21 days. This challenge ends on Saturday, October 24th. Let us know how you're doing during the challenge. So, share your habit that you want to work on for the next 21 days on Saturday and we will hold each other accountable by checking in on one another as well as posting our own progress.

It is time for the Women on a Mission to get back on the Mission! Who's going to join me?
