I like this idea. If we make it a team goal, and everyone joins the goal, then the team goal will show our accumulated total as we add it on the 'other goals' tracker every day. If we do that, we can still click on the team goal and see who has been tracking to see which team members are contributing to the total.

Why not make it a group thing and see how far as a team we can run/walk/bike for the month of August?
We could post our weekly totals, or daily, whatever and keep a running tally and see just how far we can go on our mission in one month!
