WooHoo! We took the dog to Pocahantas State Park, right down the road from my sister's house, and hiked a couple of fairly short trails.

Plantar faciitis has been getting worse so I'm taking a break from doing a lot of running/walking other than work. That's why I haven't been posting. Probably taking next month off too and will focus on strength training instead of cardio. Hopefully foot will get better.

Have we ever walked the Keys? Hurricane Isaac made me think of that as it passed through.

Christina Marie, now you can participate in the other fun part of our walks, since picking a destination is as much fun as walking it. Sometimes we try to use the time of year or something that's going on as take off point, but sometimes one of us just gets an idea that everyone likes. Joan does the heavy lifting of finding routes that offer various mileage ranges. The more the merrier!

Fitness center in the morning. Maybe with this done, I can get home at a reasonable time and do some chores that have been backing up.

Why am I so close to getting done with the mileage for this month-- weekend in the mountains coming up and less opportunity for walking. My fellow mellow weekenders are not into hiking. One bikes -- too scary for me on the Blue Ridge Parkway -- and the other two have bad knees. Walking in the short lane in front of the house the goes along the river is possible, but it's about 1/4 mile long and one looks silly going back & forth. But we'll see.

My sister's dog now hates me. We're not walking further than she's used to, but I'm not the pack leader so she's sure I'm abusing her. She's a puppy, about 7 months old, so my sister accurately described her recent behavior as adolescent. Whatever they want her to do, she does NOT want to do, and then when you add in "you're not my mom"...
