Yes, Kevin, stay home!
Walking out to my car today in our parking lot - well the heat took my breath away. It doesn't help that air quality is not good. On the drive home, the temperature displayed various values but from 106 to 109.

Wow.

It's supposed to cool off overnight to 80 and then we do this again tomorrow.

Elliptical today in the company fitness center. Per the weather page at wral.com it's now 106 degrees. How cool is that? Not too much. Heat index at 115 or so? Hmmmm....

I see folks are there! Very good and congratulations to all who made the goal, exceeded the goal or just got out and moved in June. I'll be setting up the July walk shortly. Anything to keep me inside and out of the worst of the heat.

Up early this morning and out for a run. Saw a deer. A doe or a fawn...(let's go with fawn) who had to be told that she was supposed to not wait for me to pass by within 5 or 6 feet. Clapped my hands and she took off. Saw her Friday evening as well, when I came around that same curve. That time I did pass that close to her and we just exchanged looks.

On another note, if today was a work day I'd write that this was my 27th service anniversary at my place of work. But since it's Sunday, I reckon I'll just the brew the coffee and unload the dishwasher!

Kevin, I just caught up on the Baobob trees. I remember seeing pictures of them when I was in college (anthro major, saw lots of films of Africa) and they still strike me as looking as though they're upside down - as though those are the roots sticking up in the sky.
