I did make my goal this month... 76 miles from Konakli to Antalya, but I have to admit, it is getting tough not being able to be outside. I'm going to work on this and make inside exercise fun.

I have set up the December walk. Sorry it took me until this morning. I was busy last night with a musical thing and time got away from me.

So, I remembered that I hadn't tallyed my mileage for a couple of very busy days about a week ago... which when combined with today's mileage, gets me within a single mile of my goal! I'll be working toward at least that one mile tomorrow, which really should be easy. Despite the "tradition" of a white Christmas, I've been uncharacteristically cold lately, so my vote is for anything on the list located in VA and points south! I'm sure that we've been to Alaska and will get back there sometime, but for now I'd rather be a little warmer...

Haven't been walking much the past couple of days. Will get out there today and tomorrow but won't make it to the end of my chosen walk this month. Also, was bad about strength training last week. Only one of the three days. Gotta get back on schedule. On the good side, I did lose 1 lb this week (what I gained the previous week plus .2) so I'm happy about that.

We haven't discussed where to walk next month yet. since we seem to think walking is "for the birds" lately, how about Goose Creek, South Carolina; Bird City, Kansas; Bird Island, Minnesota; Dodo, Ohio; Cornish, Oklahoma; or Eagle, Alaska?

Today's half went really well - best race this year! I may not make it all the way to Antalya, as tomorrow I have work and class. We'll see what I can do on Tuesday. Now that I've eaten, its time for a hot shower (I'm still cold!), studying, etc. I may not be able to move easily once I sit down for a while, but that's okay!

Believe it not, Ann, I was looking around Google maps about a week ago for more fowl places to visit. I found Pelican used quite a bit, but Chicken, Alaska sounds pretty good. I'll go scout that out.

Joan, just had to point out that if we walk to Chicken, Alaska in December we'll have had 3 fowl months in a row.... LOL! Why, you ask, did they name the town Chicken? Because the residents couldn't spell Ptarmagin, which are native to the region (and bear little resemblance to chickens, really).

Survived the Turkey Trot, and some treacherous terrain on the way there and one the way home, without hurting myself or even falling. Now I'm going to pay more attention to the fact that I'm supposed to be tapering and behave until Sunday! Oh, it just reached an absolutely balmy 35 degrees!

Jan,its quite possible that it was the same storm. It sounds as though it moved inland quickly enough that it didn't dump a lot in any once place, but I did hear that it was still dumping as it headed eastward from us. I guess we're all lucky for the winds that kept pushing it, or somewhere along the line somebody would have ended up with a foot of snow!

Oh Ann--that sounds terrible. Glad you were safe after your experience! It was probably the same storm that we had last night, but sort of fizzled out after hitting the mountains. We only ended up with a couple of inches of snow, but from the hype of the "blizzard of the year" we expected a lot, lot more.

Jan, sounds like you're recovering well! You know all those times I've told you that we don't get real winter here? It does stop by to visit periodically, including today. It started snowing about the time I got on the bus this morning, about 7 am. Within half an hour the snow was sticking and the roads were starting to get bad. We didn't get a lot of snow, but everything is covered in snow and ice and slick. I stood at the bus stop (bus #1, takes 2 to get home from there) for a few minutes after work and when the traffic was horrible, there was no bus in sight, and my fingers started to go numb... I decided that it was time to start walking. I walked to where I could get the second bus, about a mile and a half, but the roads were so bad that the bus driver kept telling us that he didn't think he'd make it to my neighborhood. He didn't - it became obvious that none of the buses were making it down the long, fairly steep hill, so he told us it was the end of the line. So, I walked home from there, which was about another 2 and a half miles. The walk wasn't bad, though it'd have been more fun without the icy parts (only feel once), but its also windy and in the 20s. I'm dressed warmly now, wrapped in blankets, and consuming liquids and warm stuff and slowly warming up!

And so I did go for a walk. Beautiful day - mid 60s and we still have leaves on trees and with the wind, I got to walk in a rain shower of yellow maple leaves. Very nice.
