We have a suggestion of walking in Italy this month, maybe in celebration of the Ides of March. Owlwho says that March (as a month name?) has a Roman origin. I'm going to look for some walks that end in Rome, but travel up or down the coast and perhaps up the Tiber. We'll see what I can manage.

I've been under the weather a bit. Saw the doctor this morning, got a sinus infection diagnosis and picked up my meds. I just got back from a walk. I have been working from home today and sitting under a towel (off and on) breathing in steamy water. Feeling a bit better. I didn't walk Tuesday and Wednesday, but I'm within 6 miles of goal now and should make it.

According to wikipedia, the name of the month March came from ancient Rome. Maybe we could walk somewhere near the Mediterranean, where spring is starting. It is cold here still (4 degrees F this morning). I could use some springtime.

I have tomorrow off and plan to visit the club for a few more miles. Then I am off to Iowa to hear DD#2 play a band concert and see her roommate in a production of "Into The Woods". There is no fitness equipment at the motel, but maybe we can walk around town.

Summer temperatures are mild, with an average maximum of 26 °C (79 °F). Cape Town can be uncomfortably hot when the Berg Wind, meaning "mountain wind" blows from the Karoo interior for a couple of weeks in February or early March.

In winter time, which lasts from May to September, large cold fronts come across from the Atlantic Ocean with heavy precipitation and strong north-westerly winds. The winter months are cool, with an average minimum temperature of 7 °C (45 °F) and an average maximum of around 17 °C (63 °F)

Beautiful afternoon here. Temperatures in the lower 60s. Lots of folks out walking in the park. Saw plenty of kids on scooters and on small bikes with training wheels. Plenty of dogs out for a walk too.

Meanwhile on this virtual walk, I saw these penguins on the beach. How cool would that be to actually be there and see this?

Mud, light drizzle, one Eastern bluebird, one woodpecker - not the "Woody Woodpecker" kind but either a hairy woodpecker or a downy woodpecker. I heard it, finally spotted it way up a tree. Several robins, and the usual cardinals. A nice jog, despite the drizzle & mud. Now what to do with the remainder of my President's Day holiday? Espresso (decaf) at Caribou and a book? Chores? Nap? Hmmm....

Walked through snow on the sidewalks! I decided to stay in the neighborhood - more chance of melting, and less chance of the mud in the park. Just a short walk today. Also just finished up strength exercises.
