I jogged today and with the warm up and cool down did 3.41 miles.

My total for November: 81.55 miles. I will have to be really diligent in December to make my longer mileage commitment in Thailand.

I made an executive decision and decided to walk in Thailand. I've always liked "The King and I." And I read a Mrs. Pollifax mystery by Dorothy Gilman years ago that I believe it set in the area we'll be walking in. I do remember reading about Chiang Mai in that book. If you haven't read any Mrs. Pollifax mysteries, they are a hoot.

Kevin - I figure the wise men came from the East, so we're going east to find them.

Joan--I think Singapore or Australia or somewhere in the far East would be good. We've been walking in the States for the past couple of months, and we really need to broaden our horizons. Okay, maybe broaden wasn't the best word to use........

My BIL and his family were living in Okinawa at the beginning of 2000, so about 17-18 hours ahead of our time, and they called us after midnight their time to let us know that life was still going on as usual.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day! I enjoyed dinner with friends and their daughter and grandchildren. I'd forgotten how interesting 5 and a half year olds can be!

Didn't do any cardio on Thanksgiving. Got up this morning and did my strength training. Then did church finance paperwork the rest of the morning and through lunch. Just got back from a walk and a cool down run - 3.5 miles.

Ack! Jan! You just passed me. Good for you!

I just came down from our fitness center. Had a very difficult run today - some days your body just doesn't cooperate. I gave it up after a while and ended up with 2.82 miles. I think that Turkey Day morning will start with strength training and I'll probably delay the early morning run until Friday morning. I might take a walk Thursday, but that's not clear. My main goal is to prepare the vegetables for the dinner to which I'm invited. Prior to that my tradition is that I undertake to complete a chore I dislike. I may do a very thorough cleaning of my downstairs including throwing stuff out and setting stuff aside for the thrift shop.

I was kind of thinking Singapore for east or Australia. I do recall watching New Year's celebrations from places like that as we moved from 1999 to 2000. But eastern Maine may be very east. If we want to stay on this continent, then I suspect eastern Canada is further east.

Good question about Bethlehem. I've been to Bethlehem PA on numerous occasions in my youth. Time for some internet research.

Seems like when I was fixing Y2K problems in software we all spent December 31st 1999 at work watching TV as it became 2000 in points east of us. Where do we reach New Year's first? Maybe that's somewhere we could walk to.

I just looked at the calendar. It's November 24th. Thanksgiving is only one full cooking day away given that I'm typing this on the afternoon of the 24th. I'm guessing folks will be a bit distracted over the long weekend, so I thought I'd ask for ideas of where we should walk in December while we're not lethargic from eating proper portions of the Thanksgiving feast. (Note the "proper protions" in the previous sentence.)

Sunday was a day packed full of church stuff. I did however get up early and do strength exercises. That's the first I've done that in about 6 or 8 weeks. I'm a bit sore, but it was a good thing to get back to doing. I ran today (2.36 miles) and then put in more time on the elliptical trainer.

Got a bunch of leaves raked on Saturday and finished the chore on Sunday. I think I'll have to rake two more times before all of the leaves finally come down.

Saw some really interesting pictures from the upper part of the North Carolina Coast and Virginia Beach area. Lots of problems there with flooding. My college friend who I wrote about says that the water got into her car and their freezer is DOA.

Meanwhile, it appears like it might clear up this afternoon. It's still couldy here this morning. I'm not sure I'm going to jog in the park in the mud this afternoon though. I did walk around a paved path with my friend at a nearby lake this morning, and did the elliptical trainer yesterday.

About my rain - just checked the Facebook status of a college buddy of mine who lives near Virgina Beach. She reported seeing their stack of 2x4's floating about 150 feet away from their house and that they are surrounded by water... Doesn't sound great down by the ocean.
