Looks like everyone had a great walk this month. I haven't posted since 7/8/09 and have been off track with my exercise. I am now re-dedicated to taking time for myself and my health so you will be seeing my posts in August. Looks like Japan. Sounds interesting.

And before I head upstairs, and while I'm thinking about it....

I heard no objections to a walk in Japan, so I take that as a ringing endorsement. I will look into routes tomorrow unless someone named Kevin who is really good at Google maps would be interested in figuring out an interesting selection of walks in Japan?

Just a wildly obvious hint--and a plea! I did look briefly earlier this week and maybe the northern island would be fun. Back sometime they had the winter olympics in Sapporo, which might be a good destination.

I skedaddled out of here before posting my mileage from yesterday. I did 3.2 miles yesterday. That gets me to 43.7 miles and I've got 1.3 to go.

Today will be a day off from cardio for me. I find that with running my legs really need a rest.

I have to say Kevin, that you go to the strangest places.

Did an easy on me 4.17 miles on the elliptical trainer just now. I'm at 40.5 miles on the Machu Picchu walk, so I have 4.5 left to go. Looking good for finishing up this week.

Jogged today. With the warm up and cool down I covered 3.89 miles. I've finished up the trail in Canada - that was 29 miles.

I've completed 36.33 miles of the Machu Picchu hike, and I've got 8.67 left to go. I'm 83% done.

18 mile Canadian walk followed by the 45 mile Peru walk. (63 miles)

I went 11 miles in Canada. Got 7 more to walk and than off to Peru.

Hey all,
I'm staying at a Hampton Inn in beautiful Belmont, NC. I have just finished 3.4 miles on the treadmill.
We explored downtown Belmont and found a really good place for lunch. Off to a choral concert tonight.

I'm pleased I made time for a workout. I will post totals when I'm back home tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Laughter is so restorative. Kevin - I loved and laughed loudly at the fish picture.

So, fellow team members, I am resting my legs a bit this week. Did that bicycle ride on Saturday and jogged on Monday and took Tuesday and Wednesday off intentionally. I'm driving over to near Charlotte NC after lunch today to drop in on the tail end of the Moravian Music Festival (www.moravianmusicfestival.org) to take in the band and choral concerts. The hotel has a fitness center. Depending on when we arrive, I might go for a treadmill jog. If not this afternoon, then definitely Friday.

I'm looking forward to seeing some folks I haven't seen in a while and to enjoying the music.

Hey Jan - read your note about the fox. I've seen 2 foxes this year in North Carolina on my drives to and from from work. Never seen any before this year. My neighbor told me last month that he saw one walking along the creek bed behind his house. This worries me since rabies is an issue in this part of my state.

First fox I saw had a rabbit with him/her and the rabbit was not along for the ride willingly. Supper, I reckon.

Had a good run this morning, and saw a fox not too far from my house. I was really surprised--never have seen one that close to the houses before. It was where a wild mulberry tree is and a small cottontail rabbit hung out, so that's probably the last I've seen of the rabbit. Lots better than the snake on the trail I saw Saturday!

UNBELIEVABLE! I was just sitting here finishing up my miles for Machu Picchu and the "Today Show" started on a segment on Machu Picchu! That is pretty good synchronicity. They say these ruins were rediscovered about 100 years ago.

I jogged yesterday for 3.1 miles.

Tonight I ride in a fund raising bike ride for Durham NC Habitat for Humanity. We start at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park - not the same park where they filmed the movie Bull Durham, but near the old park. We'll ride over to the chapel at Duke University (not far from where the basketball team plays for anyone who follows college basketball - Go NC State!) and then we'll circle back to the ball park. The folks who only want to ride 6 or 7 mile will drop out there, and the rest of us will ride out of town and come back to the park along the American Tobacco Trail - a very nice walking, jogging and biking trail with a problematic but historically correct name - to finish up a 17 mile ride.

And the best thing about this? It for an excellent organization - Habitat for Humanity.

Well, it's another Wednesday full of meetings for me. So since 11 to 12:30 didn't have a meeting I hightailed it to our fitness center for a run/jog. (Note that I am no longer walking/jogging!) emoticon

I'm really pleased with the Spark 5K Jogging Program. I've actually finished it, and I've been spending July so far repeating week 8 plus a few more miles. So that means two days of jogging 3 miles and then one day of a 2 mile jog. Today I did 3 miles in 33:04. That's pretty close to an 11 minute mile for me. Not bad considering in my teens and twenties all I could really manage was a 9 1/2 to 10 minute mile. (I'm slow but steady.) emoticon

Here's the wrap-up -
45 miles - Cusco, Peru to Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge - no miles today against this goal. I'm at 23.47 miles with 21.53 left to go.

29 miles Loon, Ontario to Thunder Bay
3.75 miles today
18.55 miles complete
10.45 to go
64% done
I will easily make the jogging goal this month, barring something unforeseen. When I do I'll jog in Peru some.

Hi Team!

18 mile Canadian walk followed by the 45 mile Peru walk. (63 miles)

I went 11 miles in Canada. Got 7 more to walk and than off to Peru.

Back from the walk around the lake (2 miles)and from a stop by the Caribou for espresso and chatter with other Caribou regulars.

I'm about to go out into the back yard and make an attack on the ivy that jumped the two brick stairs to try to take over the garden area where my 4 o'clocks are. Probably a losing battle long term.

Catching up to post yesterday's exercise results. I did leave work - not early - but at least by shortly after 5pm. Not having awful hot and humid weather - or at least we didn't through Friday. So I did jogging outside and then walked home. 2.1 miles are being added to each total.

I skipped my long walks today. The air is still and it's overcast and 90 degrees!!! Maybe later... I'll have to start going in the early morning again.
