That's a beautiful area! We stayed at a KOA north of Colorado Springs a couple years ago. We went to a wonderful dinner show in Colorado Springs that I'll remember forever! How is the weather? We're hearing about all the rain and flash flooding in the Denver area and if I'm right, you're just west of Denver. I hope all is OK and you're out of the flash flood area.

Just thought I would hop on and let you know we are in Central City, CO for three days. Staying at a KOA one mile above the city. What a cute little town.

I got this: We actually live in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for the info. I also used gas buddy to get all of the different prices of diesel.
Have fun on the remainder of your trip.

Susy, I envy you. You're going to all the places we'd like to go to. I have been to Yellowstone, but I was about 5 at the time, lol. So I don't really remember too much of it. It's one of the places that Robby really wants to go to. It'll have to wait until we retire though I guess, since we have to work in the summer and get our vacation time in the winter. Enjoy the trip and take lots of pics to share with us.

MSKRIS7,
Diesel prices (in Denver) have been all over the map. We paid $3.69 last night to fill up (outskirts of Denver and about a mile off the freeway). We've seen $3.89 at some places along the highway.

Oh! We visited Estes Park yesterday, and I saw $3.99 there!

Thanks, Sharon! We have heard that the Pacific Northwest is an amazing area--so now it's time for us to experience for ourselves!

I got this: We are leaving for Denver next wednesday, going to Moses Lake, WA, then Missoula, Mt, then heading for WY. Then to Dever for four days. Then back home. What have the diesel prices been like?
Thanks

Susy - your trip sounds amazing - such beautiful sites to see! I understand the state and county fairgrounds. We stayed at an amazing fairgrounds in Powell, Wyo. which was about 50 miles east of Yellowstone. We have friends that live in Powell so it was a win win situation! We loved Yellowstone and would like to go back one day. We have not made it to Glacier National Park and that is also on our bucket list. Has anyone been there?

Hi all!

DH & I left "home" (Kansas City, MO) this past Sunday. We are now about to leave Denver, CO and go on into Wyoming---on our way to Yellowstone National Park. We're traveling with some great RV friends of ours!

After Yellowstone, we're headed to Couer d'Alene, ID, then on to Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, and then the Redwoods of Northern California.

THEN we'll head back towards Kansas City: expected to be around October-ish.

Thanks for the Overnight Walmart app suggestion. I just told my DH about it.

We look for state and county fairgrounds to park at. Average cost is $15 a night. Usually only water & electric, with a dump station somewhere on the property.

I was going to make the same suggestion. It's running about $3.40 for regular down here in my area of Louisiana right now.

Do you have a Smart Phone? Because if you do, there is a free app called Gas Buddy you can download. When traveling you can plug in a city, state or zip code or use your current location and it will give you a list of the nearest gas stations and their current prices. We love it and use it all the time.

Because we depend on this app so much, I'm not too familiar with prices. Here in MI, it is running about $3,60 a gallon for reg gas.

Thanks for the info! I did not know about Cabela's. We have spent a night or two in Sam's Clubs. One time we just parked in a mall parking lot due to a Wind Advisory!

Hi. Just saw this thread. A great place to overnight is a Cabela's. They sometimes have dedicated RV parking and sometimes free dumps and water. Also, a quieter place than Walmart is a Sam's since they close for the night. We also ask before spending the night.

We do not have At&t or Verizon. We use to have Verizon years ago but switched to Straight talk years ago because we do not want to have any contracts. We are happy with Straight Talk except for this little issue. I have checked into other ways but it is way too expensive. So I will just find me a coffee shop every few days that has free WiFi.
Thanks for your info.

I use a Verizon MiFi for my internet. It is great as I can connect anywhere. I use it a lot while I'm traveling down the road. I know other's offer something similar so check them out.

Thanks Sharon. Since we already know our route, I can go online and see what Walmart"s run along our way and I can probably call them ahead of time. I know here in our area people stay at our Walmart's all of the time. Your info is great to know. Will keep in touch. No Wifi at the kids so will have to run to another town and visit a Safeway with Starbucks so I can do my laptop work every few days.

It sounds like you have a fun trip planned. You will be going through some beautiful areas of the country. Yes, we are frequent WalMart overnighters. We enjoy the free parking with the gas prices so high. We always go in the store and while I usually pick up a few needed items, my DH goes and checks with the manager that it's OK to stay overnight. The mgrs are always very encouraging and some of them even tell you where they prefer you to park. It's usually where the security cameras are which makes us feel very secure. Some WalMarts have 24 hr security where there is someone in a car cruising the parking lot all night long. How safe is that?! If you have a smart phone, there is a WalMart overnighter app that you can download for free. Then you can easily plan your route and know where the WalMarts are. Just be careful as there are a few that do not allow overnight parking. It's not WalMart but city ordinances. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a little prayer. I'll check your posts to see if you decide to go or stay where you are another week or two. We still have hopes to leave by 4/30 but we are more worried about the tornado's developing in our path towards home!

So do I Sharon. None of us can believe how long winter has hung on up home. We talk with our son every couple days and this morning, there has been at least 8" new snow and he didn't get to work due to bad roads. Still snowing tonight and apparently more coming on Sat. Very unusual even for us!!!

Well, we are now planning to load the camper and start heading home from our winter Texan home. Travels begin the 21st and would you believe, they are still getting snow at home!! We wouldn't plan to leave now but we have our GD 1st communion the next week so if the roads are decent we will be heading out with a few stops along the way. Once the festivities are over and we have a week at home in MN. we will be heading for IA. for 2 wks. That's the start of our spring/summer travels.

Glad you had a good time Tessa!!

We stayed at a campground just outside Hill City, but I don't remember the name nor do I know if it was a PPUSA campground.

We will have the RV out for a couple of days on May 3 and 4 for my niece's wedding. It will shorten our driving time to the rehearsal dinner and ceremony. The wedding is here in SW MO, so not far to drive.

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

I'm planning a trip out to the Black Hills this summer. We're Passport members as well. As you're most likely aware, the quality of PPUSA campgrounds varies dramatically. Will you please let me know the name of any PPUSA CGs you stay at in the Black Hills and your experience there. I check RVParkReviews, but the more input the better. Thanks in advance and enjoy your trip.

Home now after a great weeks holiday skiing. Our motorhome coped well, I don't think temperatures went below -10C (14F). We were always cosy inside. We think one pipe may have frozen a couple of times but it hasn't done any damage. We will try to find out where it is so we can add more protection to it.

Yes it does sound like a lot of fun, Tessa. I am not a person to ski nor do I enjoy the cold any longer either. We winter in the south of the U.S. and today had record temp of 91! Not looking at any travel to soon at this point.

I'm getting ready for our next trip, we leave in 10 days. We are going to the French alps and it's likely to be below freezing at least some (or maybe all) of the week (unless we hit a very mild spell of weather).
We haven't tried this before, I'm sure we'll be cosy in our little van and we are going to be careful about water but it will be interesting to see how we get on. I shall be chatting to others too to gain some experienced knowledge! There will be other British families there-schools get a week off in February.
I'm looking forward to a week of skiing, snow is looking good and I'm relieved to have got rid of the pounds I gained over Christmas so my ski gear fits!

Our next trip is Weds. when we go to Spencer, IA to a campground in my hometown for 5 days. We are going to the Clay County Fair which is the largest county fair around. I used to show cattle there and also had many 4-H projects displayed. We will leave there and take out time wandering to Eastern IA. for a wedding the following weekend. From there home for 2 wks, then off to central MN. for our final Sam campout. We aren't sure if we will be going home from there or begin our travels to definitely to Knoxville, TN possibly Myrtle Beach, SC or pending gas prices, come back to Branson for a visit before heading to TX for the winter. Hoping for some Passport campgrounds alone the way too. It will be a fun filled fall I think.

Love to go out to SD and the Black Hills. We have done that several times, now looking towards the N.E. and East.

Your trip brings back lots of memories! I loved that whole area. You didn't mention Crazy Horse and if you're going to Mt Rushmore and Devil's Tower, you really should go see Crazy Horse. I loved getting out of the car and walking the hills where the battle of Custer's Last Stand took place. I have Indian blood in me so I could really feel for the Indians. Be sure and read the history as that's not what is taught in school. I don't blame you for wanting to spend time with family and friends in Kansas City. Be sure and let us know what you decide to do!

We're in the middle of our "next outing!" For the past two nights we've been in Wall, SD. Yes, we walked through the Wall stores---and I only bought one thing: a miniature MISSOURI bumper sticker.

Today we leave to head on over to Custer State Park where we'll be attending a mini-rally of about 48 rigs. They're all Hitchhiker owners. So of course we'll be going to see Mt. Rushmore and Devil's Tower while here.

After this mini-rally (4 - 5 days in length), then about 6 - 8 couples are moving to a Passport park for a Buffalo Roundup. After nearly a week there, we'll all be headed to a Hot Air Balloon Festival in southern Kansas. My dilemma is whether we'll continue on with the group to the festival because our route will take us directly through Kansas City, my home town! So I may make the decision to bail out and stay in Kansas City to visit family and friends. We'll see when we get to that point! LOL

DH and I have plans to go to Branson for a few days when some TX RVing friends are in town later in September. We will travel back for me to teach on one of the days, but other than that, we will just have fun, fun, fun with them.

I tried a new-to-me Spark recipe today - Crock Pot Chuck Roast - that I believe is the best I have ever made; I asked DH what he thought of it to prepare one evening for our friends while we are down at the RV resort, and he thought that was a great idea. So it passed the Tammy AND the DH taste test, and will be very simple to do as well as very good.

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

Having got home from our trip to Switzerland, Germany & Belgium we went aay again last night. We'd been invited to a party some way away so decided we'd take the motorhome, park up over night and visit another friend today-it's been good to catch up with folk we hadn't seen for some time.
Another night away in 2 weeks when we take our youngest back to Uni with all her belongings-it's at least a 4 hour drive so we stay overnight in the motorhome-very useful!

Norm and I will keep this in mind as traveling up to Maine is in our near future (we hope!) It's the one part of the country we haven't visited yet.

No, the fall rally is small and same people, same sites every year...9 sites in the rally field...after so many years it almost runs itself. Very informal. Karen Britton, a rally friend runs this particular rally.

Gerry - good to see you post again! It's been awhile. It sounds like you have some plans in place to enjoy your MH. You certainly have had your issues with getting it repaired and done correctly. I remember when you stayed at Driftwood this spring. From the posts on FB, it looked like a great place to be. Are you in charge of the fall rally?

Hmm...next outing...well, once I get the RV back from the repair facility with a new roof and the rear wall re-attached to the floor/frame properly...

We are planning to maybe leave the RV at driftwoodcampingresorts.com/ in Cape May County, NJ for September and October, and spend as much time as we can down there. We did this this spring from March to Memorial Day at a great rate since I was managing a construction project down there at the time. Had a blast.

We're also attending our annual fall rally in Freedom NH over the Columbus Day weekend at Danforth Bay Camping Resort, and we'll be going to Poland ME before the rally for a few days to camp with workamper friends at Range Pond Campground.

That's the plan for now, unless I get a job before then!

Sharon, if I get to come over there it will be to Surprise, so we should be able to work something out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath after last winter.

Jacque - you have a lot of traveling planned and I hope it works out that you can come to AZ. Even if you can't get to Mesa, perhaps we can meet half way or something. We'll have to work on getting together if you do bring your father to AZ.

My next outing, though not in the 5th wheel will be to Tulsa again. I'll be going next month to see my mother, and everyone else, for her birthday. I won't be going on her birthday as I'll be back to work by then. I'll have a week off in the middle of the month, so will go up and visit with her as I did with my dad last month for his birthday. I am thankfull every day to have my parents still. I know that at some point I will lose them and don't know what I'll do then. I try not to think of that time, but with their advancing ages I know that it will happen, so I try and get up to see them as often as I can. Hopefully this winter my dad will be able to come down and stay with us for a while like he wanted to last year. If he does then I'll probably drive him over to Az to see his nieces that live there. If I do that I'll try and make a trip to see Sharon. emoticon , but that is still to be seen. I'll limit it to going to Tulsa next month. I'll stay with my sister in her new home when I go this time.

MSKRIS - I envy your all your outings! With selling our home and moving this summer, our MH has just sat since we returned from AZ in May. We are hoping to be settled in soon and start traveling again. I believe our next outing will be to the Soo Locks Campground in Upper MI over Labor Day.

Just spent two weeks with kids in Central Washington, will leave again on Aug. 28th, to go back and then home for a couple of weeks. Leave again on Sept. 20th for the Coast for another 8 days. I think I will be done for awhile because my husband will be getting ready for hunting season.
