When my children and the grandchildren from DH's first marriage were small, we kept SDC season passes and they loved it. You probably know that you can get combination tickets for days at SDC and White Water. White Water is also very kid friendly!

My name is Tammy and I live in SW Missouri.

My boys LOVED Silver Dollar City and so did I. We definitely want to go back. My mom went with us and it was myself, my then 4 and 5 year old boys. We didn't have the motorhome when we went, stayed at a local hotel but there is a RV park next door to SDC. You can also explore a cave while you are there, watch craftsmen at work, small petting zoo, lots of rides, lots of different food choices. There are also some beautiful lakes in the area. We didn't really have an RVer perspective when we went last fall. We went in September and got our motorhome in December but we had a great time and plan to return soon.

Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana is a nice amusement park and the Lake Rudolph campgroudn was very nice. Big shady lots, lake, trails, etc.
The park had regular amusement park admission prices, but once inside, all soft drinks are free all day (just available for you to go up and help yourself!!!) and the food was good and cheap. We fed a family of four chicken and dumplings, turkey and dressing, veggies, etc for unde $30.
not as slick as a Six Flags or Disney, but a nice park.

That place just sounded too good to be true, MissTamii, so I went looking for it on the internet. If this is the right place all I can say is Holy Cow!

That does sound like a fun trip! We drove across country on I-10 when we went to AZ this winter. We came back across I-40 and wished we would have come back on I-10!

What made the park in Crystal River so great? Did they have activities for the kids?

Jacque - We took the ride when we went to Las Vegas. We're not BIG drinkers and not BIG gamblers so we paid BIG bucks to go see Sigfried & Roy and for this helicopter ride. I complained about the cost the whole trip. Two weeks after we returned home Roy was mauled by the tiger and I have heard for safety reasons they have discontinued the rides right down in to the canyon. So I guess the money was worth it after all.

I would love to fly over the Grand Canyon, or ride down into the valley to the river. I can only imagine the view of those angles.

Kids aren't the only ones to enjoy the Grand Canyon!
We went a couple of years ago and took a helicopter ride into the canyon. They set us down on a ledge and we had a picnic lunch and then continued with the ride. It is one of my most cherished memories!

My father was a naval officer so we often had to drive across country to get to either coast (the opposite one to the one we were on, LOL) and I remember 1962, I was 11-12 and we did the Grand Canyon and I still remember that. All the parks that area of the world, the wildlife; I think I would take kids there.

Hmmmm....guess you are right at that...better get out my geography book! But, if you DO go there, be sure and go to Lambert's. It is a once in a life time experience. Did you see the challenge for today? I am having fun posting my fruit & veggie choices everytime I choose them over junk food! Ya'll may think I am crazy by day's end though. emoticon

I don't think so. Silver Dollar City is in Mo. There is alot to do around Colorado Springs though. My sister and I were looking at the AAA guide to Co. as that's where we are going next and she is planning a trip there this year as well.

That sounds good! I went to Coloroda Springs a few years ago with a girlfriend. Have you been to...is it Lambert's? "Home of the Throwed Rolls?"

The kids were wanting to see a Ghost Town, is that a part of Silver Dollar City?

The kids would like Silver Dollar City, outside of Branson, Mo. There is lots there for them to do and like Sharon said what kid doesn't like a theme park. Then you also have all the shows in Branson to go to. That area is really beautiful, lots of hills, lakes and rivers around. Jacque

I don't get many places with kids but last summer we spent a week down in the Smoky Mountains and went to Dollywood. There is so much to see and do and what kid doesn't love a Theme Park. Fun for kids and adults.........

Where would you take them again? What attractions did they offer? Can you get there by RV?
