The daffs and tulips are going over now, but the blue bells and primroses are doing really well. The Arboretum was wonderful. The rhodedendrums and cherry trees were in full blossom. There's a photo on my blog if you're interested.

emoticon Ladies! Keep up the great work!

Jean--I'll bet the arboretum was beautiful! We are now in full bloom with daffodils, hyacyith, many fruit trees and forsythia. The lilacs are starting to crack too, tough they won't be fully open for several weeks yet.

Went to Westonbirt Arboretum today and managed to walk 10,788 steps! Wow! I am impressed - but it was very slow walking because there was so much to see and the trees and flowers were so beautiful we had to keep stopping to look and to photograph them. We also had 4 year old and 8 year grandchildren along. It was an amazing day!

I fell off the wagon for a fortnight over Easter and the celebrations for DH's 80th, but I've been back on track for 6 days now. I seem to be able to go for months without having to work hard to stay on track and then suddenly the temptation is back and I begin to slide. Getting back on track has always been a big problem and I think that it is down to Spark this time that got me back quickly this time. In addition instead of putting lbs back on, I did stay the same and have lost a lb this week.

Difficult to walk 10,000 steps a day in my line of business. I teach piano and flute at home and spend a lot of time sitting or standing still. Will try and up the stepping or jogging on the spot when I am waiting for the kettle to boil etc. Target for this week is to increase from average 5,000 a day to 6,000. Small steps.

It's ok--you need to take care of yourself. Hope your back feels better soon. You'll be back to exercise in no time.

Setback--my lower back is giving me fits. Went to the chiro. last week, but it's still bothering me. So, back I go today. Been going easy on the exercise this week.

We are all here rooting for you. Move that scale! Even if you don't hit that goal--as long as the trend is overall where you want it to go, you win. If you exercise regularly and eat right you win even if you don't lose that weight! You will be healthier and stronger and you will feel great!
Good luck.

Hey thanks, I'm just getting back from a 2 week hiatus. I was so frustrated with Feb. I didn't lose anything and just can't get over the hump. The last 2 weeks I pretty much ate what I wanted and did very little exercise. I did a lot of soul searching and realized that I'm not going to give up. I want to lose 10-15 lbs. more. I think my goal wt. is a little too much, but I think I can accomplish the 10-15 lbs. by the end of May. I'm back in the grind of watching what I eat and exercising again. Now, let's see the scale move.

No kidding Swiss... you're doing great. I'm envious. Looks like I've hit a plateau. I've only lost 2 lbs this month. Arghhhh and only a few days left to try to push off 1 more. Walk Walk Walk is what I'll do while we still have nice weather!

Thanks for the reinforcement! I am a nurse and we can get LOTS of steps in a day. I generally do 12 hr. shifts, too. The most that I've seen in 1 day was a little over 19,000 steps. That was a SUPER busy day and I was completely whooped when I got home.
Now, your theme park idea sounds like fun!

I'm looking at your tracker--I think the pounds are whittling away quite nicely! You are doing great! What kind of work do you do that allows you to walk a lot? I always thought working at a theme park as a ride operator where they walk on the moving treadmill all day pointing the way for the guests to the ride would be a great job! They would pay me to walk on a treadmill. How cool is that?
Anyway, I am rambling----just keep on doing what you are doing!

It helps that I walk a lot at work. Then, when I'm not at work I try to get in my 10,000+ steps in a day. You'd think the pounds would be widdling away LOL

H there,
Ok the step challenge goes something like this, you buy yourself a step counter, they come in all price ranges, put it on everyday, record the steps you take all day , and on a set day like say Friday you go on line and record how many steps you took that week. you can record each days steps or a total for the week.
Hope this helps

Can you explain the step counter in more detail?

If anyone is interested in starting a team challenge, let me know here or you can send your ideas to me via sparkmail. I'm trying to think of something interesting that we can do and I'll post here if I come up with anything. Short term ones are best, I think. We've tried to massive long runnning ones and I think the fact that they take so long makes people lose interest. Sharks challenge was a great one--short and manageable. We can do more like that but I'm open to anything. This is our team-so lets make it work for us.
