Hey all, had a terrific day, walked for 46 mintues (in 2 settings). Really met all my goals today, except the sodium one, lol. ANyway, much better than yesterday. Pedomiter reads 6.4, will settle for that, feels like more with 104 minutes of exercise today, I will sleep good tonight!

Sorry for the late post. I averaged about 7,500 steps a day last week with a couple days in the 8,000 range. The 8k steps that is on my counter right now says 4.1 miles so I'm going to say I walked about 25 miles last week.

I'll do better at keeping track of the exacts next week.

SparkPeople doesn't seem to like me today. I keep getting messages apologizing for sending me to a bad page (one that is an error message type)--so I haven't been able to post anything. I can read but not post. Lost an entire blog. Argh. It's working right now. I'm going to wait until tomorrow to tally up. Not everyone has put up the mile totals yet and I'm wondering if they are also haveing the same problems with spark that I have been.

Thanks for the correction Keyalm. I got it now!

Format to post:

2000 steps=1mile (if you pedometer gives you a mileage, use it instead)
15 minutes cardio=1mile
Real mileage counts too
Post your total milage for the week.

Good Evening Team!

Bonne Terre is a little poe dunk town about 60 miles south of St. Louis, MO. If you are traveling down US Highway 67 at 60 miles an hour and blink you will probably miss it lol. Not really but it might be close. Their only claim to fame is the mines really. St. Joe Lead had a big mining operation here until the 60's when they shut it down.

I walked 7700 steps today...yea me! My incisions are giving me fits today itching and not only from the healing process evidently. I broke out in blisters from the bandages......can you believe it? lol I am coming to think if a weird thing is going to happen its going to happen it will happen to me.

Ok, guess I didn't subscribe to this discussion and wasn't checking the team page very well! Really sorry I missed the Starting Off Party, but guess didn't need those calories and good foods anyway.
Didn't do much on Sunday as I mowed the lawn on Saturday. So on Sunday can only count my strength/flexibility of 15 minutes that I do each a.m. while the old coffee pot is brewing. I'll start keeping track of everything from Monday-Saturday and post it all next Sunday 5/25. I'm only 40 minutes away from Oceans of Fun/World's of Fun if you want to party. Use to know where PattyJean lived but not now if she has moved. Not familiar with Bonne Terre. Where is it? Until Sunday...keep moving those bodies. emoticon

Christina--Not sure exactly where she lives--she moved recently. I'm just waiting for her to give me a bit more detail but I think it is in the general vicinity. And there are no Oceans in the center of our continent-you can't fool me! Though there was an inland sea at one time. I lived in SW Kansas for about a year and there were remnants of the coral reefs from that time near where we lived. Sea shells, shark teeth--amazing stuff and it wasn't even a state or national park or a protected area. It should have been--it was just beautiful. I spent a lot of time there. In case you couldn't tell by the Gemstone, I love to collect rock/mineral/gem specimens and explore geological areas.

Sassy, girl go easy on yourself! We want you with us the entire way! Patti-I think I could party at your place for a little while as long as I knew the Patriots weren't in the stadium! (Forever a Giants fan!) Does shivering burn any calories because that was all I did last night for two hours at my daughters ball game. It was 42 degrees when we got home. I was babysitting my friends 17month old so I didn't get to excersise! Sorry girls, I can't add to the mileage for yesturday. Gem your doing a great job!

Ouch! Christina--you just come along for the ride for a bit, ok? We are all travelling together so if one of us needs to take a day off--it's fine and we ALL need to take a break/a day of rest--now and then. You just had surgery last week--take it easy girl!
Nice to see you all at the party. Post your cardo minutes/ walking totals/steps etc for the week on each Sunday and I will try to tally them. For example:
I walked 2 miles on Sunday
I did 60 minutes aerobics Monday
I mowed the lawn for 3 hours on Tuesday
I used my pedometer and got 4000 steps on Wednesday
I would convert the 60 minutes aerobics=4 miles (60/15=4)
I convert the 180 minutes on Tuesday=12 miles (180/15=12)
I convert 4000 steps=2 miles (4000/2000=2) This is assuming 2000 steps=1mile and your pedometer doesn't make a conversion for you. If your pedometer has a different#miles, use those.
So on Sunday, the login miles day, I would report
20miles for the week ( 2+4+12+2)
If each person report his/her own tally for the week, I will add it in and then let you know how far to the next visit so you'll have time to set up for the next potluck! We're heading towards Missouri now--
I'm thinking with those who are "in" so far, we'll move across the US towards Alberta,CA and back down towards the southern part of the US passing through Kentucky and onto Florida (maybe stopping at the central FLA attractions on the way), and back up the east coast to Baltimore--then onto the QE2 for a nice trip to Great Britain, and back to the Port in Boston (via the QE2 of course). I live in SE Massachusetts--the home of the NE Patriots is almost my backyard so Party there and maybe, if Tere says ok, we'll go back there for the party to celebrate our trip!
I'm still making this up as I go along folks and I'm hoping to pick up more team members as we go so the itinerary may change. I am open to suggestions too.

I worked out in my yard for about an hour today picking up sticks and raking just a little bit. We also were taking things out to the curb for the city to pick up tomorrow in our city clean up.....and started one of my incisions bleeding so I think I'll have to take it a bit more easy for a few more days.

Forgot to add all the work. I did the lower body stretching routine, upper body stretching routine, kneeling rollout with ball, 96 crunches, 24 dumbell crunches, 10 minute bootcamp cardio workout vdeo, 20 minute dumbell workout.

I am here with Bubba's beer but chicken, just take a whole chicken, drink half a can a beer (or thow it out) stick the half full can of beer in the cavity, add black and white pepper to taste and bake!

I did 1 1/2 hours today walking in the park with my little grandsons and their mom and dad (my son, Michael and DIL, Lina). It was a beautiful day in SE Massachusetts when I left for Tere's here in NH, but it's raining at home now. What's happening inyour neck of the woods Tere?
Oh, the 1 1/2 hours translates into 6 virtual miles. I wasn't walking too fast so just a 15 minute mile for me.

We will start our visits to our team friends today--from Tere's home in NewHampshire. Pot luck! Bring your favorite food. I'm bringing Chili.

I'll add some more details later--here's the sparknote version:
All exercise counts. 15 minutes of any cardio=1mile
2000 steps=1mile If you are doing biking--miles count, walking miles count. I am using the minutes and steps as estimates--if you do more, just use the real numbers. We'll add our miles together once a week to get the group total--no one is left behind. We travel together.

SCUBA!!! Virtually, I could do that one--my son does it for real and he says its great. I don't put my face in the water if I can help it so I'll probably never do it for real. I am such a wimp--yet I love the ocean, lakes--all of it. I just never figured out how to put my face in the water without feeling like I am going to drown.

All you have to do is keep track of your steps, walk time or any cardio you do. I'm making this up as I go along but once I figure it out, I'll post it on the challenge board on the first sticky. Probably later today or early tomorrow.
I went off for a surprise treat today. Weather spotter training! I love the weather and I've been a spotter for years, but I was getting rusty. We don't often get the really severe weather here in SE Massachusetts. I think the ocean and where I live relative to it helps moderate the weather--at least as it relates to severe (tornadic) weather. SO, each year I try to find the NWS/NOAA training updates at a time and location that I can attend and last night (after midnight) I found out that one was today in Boston--about an hours drive away but I was available. The training is 3+ hours but its so much fun and so very interesting to a weather buff--so I spent my time doing that instead of sparkpeople. It was a good choice. Anyway, it means I may be a bit delayed getting the information on the thread. I have to work out distances. I decided we start our mileage at Tere's (New Hampshire) since she had the idea for this walk and go from there. More information coming on the other thread.
Anyone who wants to join at the start should send me information. If you want to join in after we start, that's ok too! Everyone is welcome and everyone can participate.

Okay I'm not sure how this works but I'm in. I live in Bonne Terre, MO home of the famous Bonne Terre Mines. Well they say they are world famous but I don't know about that. I personally haven't been on a tour of them but my daughter has and like it. There is a billion gallon underground lake that people like to scuba dive in. There is a book based on it if anybody is interested that talks about our town though. Its a murder mystery called Moon Pool by Max McCoy.

Patti, you did a great job explaining everything! If your not comfortable giving Patti the town you live in just let us know a city or town in your state and we will use that address! I am hoping to get a map and put push pins in it so that I can visually see the work that we have done! I am very excited about this and I hope that we have a bunch of Wacky Walkers join in the fun! Stop by Winchester, NH and say hi! While I may not be close to Gilette Stadium, we can hook up with a friend of mine and he will lite off all the fireworks he can for us!

Here's the deal. We are going to "virtually" walk to visit each and every member who chooses to partcipate in this activity. You tell us the address where you will be, and we will go to visit. We'll be logging in miles. For example, to get to me, you would walk from our start point to a tiny little town in SE Massachusetts. I live near Gillette Stadium, home of the NewEngland Patriots in Foxboro. We can party while watching the fireworks over the stadium from my back yard. Tere came up with the idea so I'll be working with her to set all this up. Hopefully, we'll get it up and going mid May. Don't give out your real address over the net here--just a town and we'll put in "Main Street" as the address. Pretty much everywhere has a Main Street. I have a GPS so we'll use that to establish mileage.
