I have been back and forth vegetarian and omnivore. Last February (2012) I had to switch to no dairy (medical reasons). I have a good friend who is Pescetarian who is moving slowly to full Vegan. I personally have decided to switch to full vegan as well. In fact Today was Day 1 of full vegan. I'm not feeling bad b/c I don't like eggs at all. and Meat....well, I've had issues with that for years. It's a natural progression. I am home now (been out of town for the holidays) went to the grocery store and stocked my house full of Vegan goodies/yummies.. be patient with yourself. I like the idea of going slowly. 1 vegan day one week, then make it 2 the next week and slowly you'll be fully vegan OR you'll have found the perfect balance for yourself. :)

First, welcome! Second, any time you make a major change in the way you eat, it can cause other changes. Some would say a breakout could be a cleansing of impurities. I'd say, continue on for a few weeks and see how it is then.

Vegan is naturally low-fat, unless you add a ton of oil. Please make sure you don't short yourself on healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, and nuts/nut butters. I've personally found that following the SP guidelines on nutrients (with the exception of protein) works great for me. On the SP protein, if I come in about 20% below their number, it is about right.

Hi I am just a week in to Veganism and made the transition from Low Carb! Big change. I am getting breakouts which is unusual for me and I was wondering if you thought it could be the bad before the good. Everyone says their skin is so great on this plan. I also am so surprised that I haven't lost any weight, I am trying to follow a low fat vegan plan.

Any thoughts?

For those who want to move from vegetarian to vegan, a nice transition is to follow 100% vegan for one day a week. When you see how easy that is, expand to two, then three... Soon you'll be incorporating the dairy/eggs only once a week or every few weeks. :D

Hello everyone, I am new to the board. My name is Kimberly. I am currently a vegetarian, but hopefully one day I can cross that line and become a vegan.
