I finally found you again but I think I am on an old list. duuugh! I am a little computer or Sparkpage challenged. LOL You will notice that I did weigh in yesterday and lost almost two ;bs without even trying, just being still strictly vegan, and NO NUTS. that is because of the heart. I am getting really more energy too since our daughter-in-law got me on a fantastic supplement but I think it might be against the rules to tell you what it is. I do not want to get kicked off. LOL. I changed my profile a little so people will know my weight is really registered in lbs not Kg.

I am following Dr Esselstyn's book to Reverse Heart Disease.
My goal is to get one pound slimmer every week until I reach 140, and then stay there forever, healthy.

I notice that my weight always comes up as Kg but believe me, I never weighed 210 Kg LOL It should be reading pounds (that is what my scale says), and I cannot seem to change it so wanted you to know. LOL

It seems ok now.
we still have to put stuff in since we had to renew or whatever you call it.
It really makes you wonder how some people have nothing better to do but mess with other people.
Thank you for putting me in.

I did weigh in on Monday.118 pounds
Our home computer got a virus(a Trojan)
We had a heck of a time.
We had to take it back to square one.
I missed 2 days.I'd still like to lose 10 in 10 for 2010.

Great, I've got you guys down. From now on, please post to the "Week 1 (1/18-1/24): Vegetarians losing 10 in 10" thread. That will be the official thread we'll use for the next week.

My starting weight is 236. I gained 3 pounds over the weekend. I have been gone for 3 days painting for my landlord and she fed me too much fatty stuff. Sorry this is late. I just got back.

Are we checking in weekly with our new weights? Sorry if you said that already and I missed it!

I just got back from today's run. It was only 2.5 miles, but as I'm coming back from an ankle injury, I'm trying to build back up slowly. I'll walk my dogs in a bit just to move my body some more.

I've already entered in today's planned food for the day, and it has me over in my calories, so I'm going to play around with it and see what happens if I were to cut out one snack (I usually eat two) and make my portion at dinner a bit smaller.

I am soooooo not good at this portion control thing!

I'm not a moderator, but as a veteran of other message boards, here's my two cents, anyway. I'd recommend creating one thread per week, and everybody posts for that week under that topic. The older weeks then float away as we stop posting on them, leaving the most recent week nearer the top of the board. I'd probably call them:

WEEK 1: dropping 10 in 10 in 2010
WEEK 2: dropping 10 in 10 in 2010

etc... keeping it consistent.

I am so excited about this challenge. I would REALLY love to drop 10!! I bought myself a new exercise outfit and a "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD, and I'm challenging myself to do the video 5 days a week.

So, here's to us!!! emoticon

Hi, I'm Kathleen and I would like to join too. My starting weight this morning was 153.4. I've been stuck at this weight for about a month and I really need to break this plateau. I have to get refocused. I did a good workout today, but ate too much at lunch. Yummy vegan chinese food. I've been a vegan since last March. Since last January I've lost 70 pounds, but I still have issues with sweets, portion control and emotional eating. I still want to loose at least another 25 pounds.

Reporting in at 168.5. Up 1.5 pounds from last week. I had a 3 day weekend and really gave it my all with tracking my foods, water and exercise. Sort of discouraging but tomorrow is another day.

I would just keep this thread as the one we "report" to and chat on...that way nothing will get lost in the boards. Just my 2 cents. =)

I'm having a pretty good day so far...worked out, have been eating pretty well... but I do have a "ladies night" dessert thingy to attend. Ugh. I'll just have to either pass on going or just not eat! For me it's one bite and I'm done for.

Hey everyone!!! Congrats on a strong beginning to the challenge... I'm having a challenging day myself. Woke up starving, bloated, and thankful that since I'm retaining water, next week shouldn't be so hard to drop at least a pound. Here are the people who've reported today:

If you still want to report a starting weight, please do so before tomorrow morning, and I'll post a final list in the morning.

So, as I appear to be the moderator for this challenge (which is GREAT for me, because it will hold me accountable!!!), for all the SP veterans out there, should I create a new thread everyday? Or maybe just once a week on Weigh-in day, and we'll continue posting on this same thread until next Monday? What do you think? I don't want the thread to get lost in the boards, but I also don't want to have too many new threads, for fear people might post to the old one and not get a response. What do you think I should do?

How is everyone doing so far? I'm over my calories, but I also had a crazy workout, where I ran 3 miles, then did some sprints, and then went on the elliptical for 35 minutes, THEN finally got around to the dreaded weights machines. I feel good, and healthily exhausted. What about you guys, anyone have any awesome workouts they want to brag about? Good luck!!!

Well, crap. I totally forgot to weigh myself first thing this morning since I have the day off for the holiday. And I'm not totally sure that I want to weigh myself now 'cause I've had breakfast and lunch. Maybe after I workout here in a bit I'll weigh myself, but to be as accurate as possible, I may just wait 'til tomorrow morning.

Best of luck to everyone!

My starting weight's 144.8... Ugh. that's the biggest number I've seen in weeks. No doubt I am PMS-ing, I feel incredibly puffy. Water water water! At least it'll be (slightly) easier to lose weight this week as my water weight decreases. Today's gym plan is to run 3 (per my half marathon training, then do spin class, and some weight machines.

Sue- pretty sure my name's not Jillian!! She's my idol though.... except for the enormous amount of meat-eating she encourages. ;-) I just love how hard she pushes the BL contestants while having a heart of gold at the same time. Makes me work harder at the gym knowing that there are bigger and more out-of-shape people than me who can workout all day.

My starting weight is 134.5.

As long as I'm going to go for the full 10, I should probably change my ticker to reflect that!

Today's plan is to do Yoga X (from the P90X program - I don't follow that plan, but I do use a few of his videos), and to do some strength exercises as described to me by Sparkpeople. I have no access to any equipment so it'll all be body weight exercises, but hopefully that'll be enough!

SULLYOFAMILY~I, too, am a student...just started culinary mgmt program & plan to be personal vegetarian chef, since I've cooked vegetarian/vegan for 20+ years.
And going there, like everywhere, I'm prepared: in my bag of books I also carried snacks & water, since I knew I'd be gone from home several hours. All it takes is a little planning, & we can DO this!

I start back to school next Monday, and when I'm in school I need all the motivation I can get. This challenge will get me past midterm.

Hi,
My name is Juanita and I want to do this. I'm in the middle of an Isagenix cleanse and have lost 6 pounds so far and my glucose is getting back into control. I'll be finished with this cleanse just in time to start 10/10 on January 18.

I have been a vegetarian for about 3 years and was just ready to give it up because I wasn't losing weight and my A1c was heading above 7. My doctor seems to think if I lose weight it will be because my glucose is too high.

The cleanse shows me I can lose weight and still bring down my blood sugar. I need this challenge to motivate me!

What perfect timing! I'm new to SP as of yesterday and I'm trying to find my way around. SP is overwhelming. But this cropped up and I'm going to use it as a focal point and a way to connect while I learn more of the great features here.
Thanks for the challenge!

I started a "lose 10 in 10" with two local friends just yesterday! I am hopeful that this is the motivator that will work! Those last ten pounds are pretty hard to lose. If I want to look fabulous, I'd need to lose even more!

I'm in!

I need to lose closer to 8 pounds, but I'd be okay with 10, too. :)

A little about me - my name's Melissa, and I live in the Netherlands. I'm American though. My New Year's Resolution in 2009 was to become vegetarian by July (I was giving up one day a week per month, until July when I would get to all seven days per week). Instead though, I became vegan by April! So I think it's safe to say I kicked that resolution's ass. :)

My problem, like some of you, is portion control. I eat mostly healthy food (especially because I'm so new to the Netherlands that I can't read Dutch, so I pretty much HAVE to choose whole foods in order to know that what I'm choosing has no animal products in it), but I eat a lot of it. And when I do eat unhealthy food, I eat a lot of that, too! I'm pretty active, which is why my weight isn't a bigger problem, but I'm still unhappy with where I stand now.

My husband's looking to drop about ten pounds, too, so here's to hoping we can do it this time around!

Hi,
Count me in!! I am Mary, I have been vegetarian for 2 years. I am very active but haven't quite figured out portion control. I also find current diet to be way to carb heavy. I would like to lose 15lbs.

I want to join this challenge. I am 51 and need to lose thirty-six pounds. I know my knees will thank me as well as my heart. I am mostly vegetarian and I am trying to convert to mostly vegan. I travel a lot so it is hard. emoticon

Hi!

I will try to... I have dropped a couple of kilos in the last few weeks, but I still have 15 to go! Starting with 5kilos (about 10 pounds) would be good :-)

Hi I'm D and I am ready!

My problem is portion control as I always want seconds and I have decided to stop the seconds the moment I joined the challenge!

I am starting at 54 Kilo and would like to get to 50 K!!

I am a fitness instructor but my body is used to being active and it actually, believe it or not, is not being challenged enough.

So thank you for this challenge! And GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

Edit: I do my weigh-ins on Sunday, so this morning's weigh-in is 123.8. My goal weight is 115, but I wouldn't mind if I could go to 113.8 in 10 weeks :)

Original post:
I'm in! I'm ready to lose these 10 lbs. which will put me at my goal weight!

My all-time high was 192 lbs. Today I'm 125, thanks to vegetarianism and portion control. I've started adding some fitness activities to my life and am ready to lose the last 10 and tone it up!

Hi, I am Cat and I am an artist/crafter. I am 52, and I have been struggling with my weight for many, many years. I use to weigh 300 and lost 65 and kept it off for 8 years. I am ready to lose the last 98.
I am in many weight loss groups and am starting in several challenges Monday, so between them, I should be able to do this.

Hi,
My name is Donna and I work for a school bus and Limo company.
I guess I am a dispatcher,secretary,school bus driver,etc.
I am only a vegetarian for about 2 years. Although I didn't ever really eat a lot of meat I mainly stopped for the animals.
Now I want to keep doing it for myself as well.
I am 56 years old and want to be healthy and get rid of that 9 months pregnant look.
Can't wait.
Thanks

Focus on moving forward.

Hi, My name is Dalores and I've been vegetarian most of my life. I know food is my main problem. Its just hard to feel satisfied. I lost 15 lbs about a year ago, but I have been losing a lot slowing since then. I work the front desk at a health club, so sometimes I feel pretty scutinized.

I'd like to join this group too. I don't know if I can lose another 10 lbs but I would like to give it a try. I am currently out of work on disability and I can't do much real exercising, just some gentle stretching. I would love to support everyone in their quest to reach their goal.

Hi I'm Rose - I am a document composer. I have been a vegetarian for about 9 months. I was vegetarian many years ago but my doctor wanted me to eat meat when I was trying to get pregnant...many years ago and just never got back to doing it again. I'm very happy that I have found my way back to eating no meat and find that I am trending toward being vegan...not intentionally but I seem to be heading in that direction.

Thank you for setting up this challenge. I am very excited about finding this website. It is like having a bunch of pen pals. I have put on about 50 pounds after years of stress, ill health and neglect. I am hoping to find my old self under all these pounds.

Hi, I'm Boni - short for Bonita. I am a retired schoolteacher. I have been a vegetarian for over twenty years and recently became a vegan. I've always kept my weight off with exercise, but after finishing my third half marathon (mostly walking, a bit of jogging) in October, I started goofing off re: exercising and then came Christmas... This group is just what I need to get back on track.

Awesome! Glad to see so many people interested!

So, let's introduce ourselves to the group. I'm Jo Ellen, I live in New Jersey, and I'm a professional singer. I'm really into working out, and I'm running my second half marathon on March 21, in NYC. I've essentially stayed the same weight for the past 3 years or so, although when I get really serious about my diet I can lose 5-10 pounds, but then something stressful happens and I stop working at it and gain it all back. I want to fit into my $100 Lucky jeans, and wear a bikini this summer. But most of all I want to reach a place of peace and balance with food, and in the rest of my life.

Just thought I'd say a few things about myself. I'm having a pretty good day so far, and I just ran (well jogged, really) 8 miles at the gym. Have a great day!!
