So with our miles this week we started at the north tip of Hawaii's Big Island and began our exploration down the west side of the island along the Kona Coast. We perused through the Kona coffee fields and visited the famous Puukohola Heiau Temple which was built by King Kamehameha I. We travelled around the southern edge of the island to Volcanoes National Park where we hiked on the Kilauea volcano - which has been erupting constantly since 1983 - to watch the lava flows and experience the raw power of it all. Next week we will finish out our tour of the Big Island by heading up the east side of the island to Hilo.
Well I managed to get about 3 miles in this week. It will be more next week since I have managed to rig my stationary bike so that I can use it without using my ankle! So with BONIDALE's 42k this week that puts us at 72.1 miles or 116 kilometers.
