I do better if I keep it simple and fresh emoticon emoticon emoticon

I started out top weight 245 but that was when I actually got on a scale. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia almost 20 years ago. Over the years I've learned that I do so much better when I eat organic foods and I haven't eaten red meat in years I have been gradually working more raw foods, vegetables and fruit into my diet. I avoid drive through resturants like the plague.

At the risk of being a problem child, I wonder how many of those would fall off the list if we included them to be GMO free...

Sugar isn't vegan, because refined white sugar is filtered through charred animal bones. Aren't a lot of those items on the list made with sugar? Also some of the foods have Mono And Diglycerides, and or Monoglycerides which unless specifically stated they are from vegetable sources are from animals. I spot checked the el paso taco shells and they have both, so not even vegetarian! This is a poor list of vegan foods. Try trusted brands like Annie's and Amy's and read the ingredients. Most corporate processed foods have "hidden" animal products and all those chemicals can't be healthy let alone all that sugar.

That is a long list. I'm sure one can reduce it to a healthy one simply by eliminating chemicals, sugar, oils, and sodium.

No wonder so many people are unhealthy.

I just buy single snack portions. Otherwise I can be tempted to eat more. One bag of crisps, One ice cream etc.

I think the important thing for us all to remember is that moderation is key. No matter what it is we are eating, if we have too much of it, it isn’t good for us. But, a little of it in our diets is fine. Eating things that are purely vegan is great. But if we over do it, then we are bound to get deeper into trouble.

I happen to enjoy ginger snaps sometimes, as well as soy chips. But I make sure I stay within the allotted portion size. To help me do that, I use multiple ziplock bags to count out individual portions.

We each need to find tricks that help us stay on track.

I thought the list was quite comprehensive, and I thank you for posting it. Yes, there were some unhealthy choices AND some healthy choices. However, I am grateful for the post all the same. There are days like today, that I am having dinner at someone's house, and I'm hard-pressed to figure out if there is anything they are serving which I can eat beyond the tossed salad. So... thank you!

I don't diet, I live it!

Was there anything healthy on that list? if there was I couldnt spot it. I felt ill just reading it. It was a list made for a heart attack or diabetes.

1. Fritos and 2. most Tostitos varieties. Both are Frito Lay's products. These really surprised me.

I know people who wonder if you can be thin as a vegan. Well, just eat a bunch of stuff on that list and it's no wonder why some of us have trouble. We argue that we're eating healthy. That's true: but anything with calories can make you gain weight if you don't properly manage your food.

WOW...that's quite a list. Just goes to show you don't have to be healthy to be vegan. LOL

* Items listed may contain trace amounts of animal-derived ingredients. While PETA supports a strict adherence to veganism, we put the task of vigorously reducing animal suffering ahead of personal purity. Boycotting products that are 99.9 percent vegan sends manufacturers the message that there is no market for that particular food, which ends up hurting more animals.
