I've discovered if you concentrate on getting all of your vitamins & minerals through food, you'll reduce your calorie intake too.

May God bless her and give her the strength and courage to deal with such a traggic loss. Team, we really have to work hard at getting healthy. In a desperate need to lose weight she turned to surgery and for whatever reason (negligence or not) she lost her legs.

Long-term Goal: To overcome my hesitation and stay focused long enough no matter what happens in my life.

about a year ago i started checking out the TOPS groups in my area. I visited one to see what it was like and was going to visit a few others and see if any of them would be the right fit for me. But it didn't work out for me. My schedule is unpredictable because I have 2 teenagers that have after school activities and I am their chauffer. They said you always have the option of starting a new group but luckily I didn't because past year has been so hectic. Maybe in the future i'll check it again and see if maybe there a better group for me, my group age, my area, on a wknd or something. I also have joined the YMCA and love it there but again this past year has been so chaotic for me that I have to slowly get back in the swings of things and make time.

Long-term Goal: To overcome my hesitation and stay focused long enough no matter what happens in my life.

My doctor has always encouraged me to join a support group. SparkPeople is good but to actually be with a group of people and be accountable to my weight loss is what I needed to do, so I joined a local TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group. I also joined a women's fitness centre which was in my own town but now they have moved to the next town over which is about a 7 minute drive. I have a hard time motivating myself to drive further than my own town to go do a workout routine.
