Susi - no huge plans for me over the weekend. Friends are supposed to be coming over and need to get caught up on laundry for sure!

Next week is spring break for me and my oldest daughter! Yay! I get a week off work while she's on her final High School spring break. I'm so excited for her!

Hi Laura and Welcome!!

Hello All!!!
I would love to join you ladies on here if that is OK!!
My name is Laura and I have two amazing boys. Owen is two and Kellen is 6 months. I am mostly a SAHM, but I am also a veterinarian, and I work relief sometimes at the clinic that I used to work full-time at before Owen was born. I am working 1-2 days a week currently for this month and next, but then should be mostly home.
I was on SP a few years ago for awhile trying to lose the last 10-15 pounds that had crept on, but didn't stick with it and didn't lose all the weight that I wanted to before getting pregnant with Owen. I lost all the baby weight the first time in less than 3 months, but stalled at about 4 or 5 months PP this time and actually started to go the other way recently, so I decided to re-join SP this week. I actually had lost more weight then I had gained the first pregnancy, so I started the second pregnacy lighter than the first, but not to my goal weight. I have lost a few pounds already just tracking my eating, which I realize is some water weight, but that's OK!!!! :-)
I would LOVE to have some ladies to chat with and stay accountable and keep tracking my food!!!! Now it's time to make some lunch, I am looking forward to getting to know you all, I did read some of the previous messages, but there are A LOT, so didn't read them all!!! :-)
~Laura

I agree totally! I do really great Sunday - Tuesday and then I start slacking off. Every week I tell myself that I am not going to do this but every week I do. It hasn't helped that for the last 2 months at least 1 if not several of us have been sick and that always throws a wrench into things when the kids are sick.

I also do really well with the H20 at the beginning of the week and then by the weekend I am way off on my oz.

Does anyone have any suggestions w/ how to stay on track during the weekends?

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be

You are definitely not alone!

It was hard enough to find time in my day to exercise before I had DD, and now... eeek! Every time I think I'm getting into a good routine, something changes. DD starts teething like crazy and is up at night, or I'm swamped at work, or... whatever.

I think, especially for us, we need to work on one healthy habit at a time. We're not going to be able to make major changes and have them stick, when our lives are perpetually in flux. It's all about the small, manageable changes, and then we build on that.

This may not be the correct spot for this but... is anyone else having trouble getting back on track? I gained a bit of my weight back BEFORE I got pregnant and now I have around 35 pounds to lose before I'm COMFORTABLE. Not goal, but comfortable. My problem is that I will do great for a day or two and then slip all over again. I need help!

Trying to get back on track after the worst year that I can remember.

You know it's been a long winter when we're excited to see rain! :)

It looks like it's supposed to be nice this weekend -- though it's New England, that could change at any moment! -- so hopefully I can be outside a lot.

How is everyone doing this week?

It's starting to look like spring around here -- finally! -- so I'm feeling much more motivated to get moving.

Unfortunately, at the same time I'm dealing with an ankle injury (something I've put off dealing with for too long), so I can't run nearly as much as I'd like. Le sigh. Hopefully physical therapy helps... and quickly!

We just got a gym at my work last year and I can thank that for what I have lost. I'm still losing, it's just going slower than I'd like. I keep telling myself it's about the long-haul but sometimes it's just frustrating.

Thanks for the support!

My baby turned one yesterday! Yikes! Time flies! My soon to be 18-year-old is graduating this year. YIKES!

Kathy

I really stumbled on how to get in exercise with working all day and not losing time with DS (and being too tired once he goes to bed). I am lucky to have a gym at work, and a flexible enough schedule that I can get there a couple/three days a week. We also have a great walking route once the weather gets nice, so I'm making it a priority to do my workouts at lunch - what a great benefit! I am struggling to get in the 10 min videos for boot camp, but so far I'm just stealing the time while DS is playing - usually still in work clothes, doing lunges and whatall.. but doing it!

Kathy, I going through the same thing. I wanted to be at my goal weight by the end of 2010...not so much. But we just keep trying!

Fitting in exercise when we work long days and have small children is a challenge, that's for sure!!

I'm looking forward to spring, when I can start taking running lunches again... it's great to be able to get in a workout and not lose time with DD. Getting out of the office is just a bonus.

I keep stumbling for that second goal in my signature line. The baby's birthday is tomorrow and I'm still 4 pounds off. That's after an adjusted goal date - originally it was in January! Argh!!

I'm just not able to exercise as much as I'd like because I work 9-11 hour days!!

Kathy

Hey, happy march! I just started the sparkpeople boot camp, figured I needed to be serious about losing this weight (happy to be starting 4 pounds less, too) Anyone else trying something new this month? I'm a bit intimidated about how I'll fit it in, but last night I did the 10 min video while the baby hung out and watched...

@GridMiche: not sure how to count 30 day shred, but I noticed alot of the trackers are including some of the popular stuff (cardio dance = Zumba), try looking up more general terms and see if they have the shred listed along with it?

Yay weekend: lots of household stuff to catch up on, but mostly getting to spend time with DS. I hate only getting 1 -2 hours with him a day! Planning work outs both Sat and Sun, keeping with the groove! Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Happy Friday, everyone!!

It's been a crazy week, so I am more than ready for the weekend!

The goal this weekend is to fit in a couple of runs, but also to relax with DD and DH. We need some down time!

How is everyone else doing?

KATIKOHT, we all had that a few weeks ago too... yuck!!

Though if it cures a peanut M&M addiction... at least there's a positive side!

KATHY -- It must just be this time of year, and we're all fighting off the viruses that are flying around. (Plus the cold, dark... it needs to be spring!)

My whole family, and some extended, got hit with norovirus this week - UGH! The baby seemed to be the start, but he never had more than a big puke a couple different days and a few icky diaps - no change in his moods or anything. The rest of us didn't fair so mildly. I'm back to work with relief, and back to eating like a normal person again.

The one upside... I'd eatten a bunch of peanut M&M (some person possessing of willpower keeps us stocked at work), and well, now.. there is NOTHING appealing about peanut M&M. There is a silver lining, right? I will now be that person possessing of willpower over the peanut M&Ms...

Hope everyone else is escaping the all the illness going around - noro, strep, flu, colds - they seem to be rampant!

Oh dear YES. The last week has been SO TOUGH for me. The baby had the flu (fever began on Sunday) and I'm wondering if I had a milder version of it. I'm fine during the day but as soon as I leave work I hit a wall. Usually evening is my prime time!

And then to boot, I woke up severely dizzy this morning! Gah!

I'm feeling healed and strong. Started Chalean Extreme last week and I'm really, really enjoying it! Lost three pounds last week, I thought it was a fluke but I've held at that weight for about 4 days now so it must be true!

Staying on track is hard with all the temptations of the special occasions. I gave in but that doesn't mean I won't get back on track. My husband hasn't been the most helpful lately but we promised to lead by example by eating healthy and exercising so our son will learn how important staying healthy is. We are starting this week on cutting down the sweets which has been our biggest problem since Christmas. I am staying positive which is my first big goal.

Happy Friday, everyone!!

We're almost halfway through February... winter has to be letting up soon right? It's actually a little bit light out when I leave for work now, so hopefully we're through the worst of it already.

This was a rough week for me too... I haven't exercised since Monday, because I've been so exhausted. I'm just trying to stay on track with eating, and will get back in the exercise routine this weekend.

I didn't do great over the weekend, but I didn't free for all by any means and I'm back here this AM to do what I need to do.

As an aside, I did complete 5 workouts last week - GO ME! I haven't done that in well over a year. I scheduled them, and I stuck to it. I have the same plan this week..

Hoping everyone else is starting off their week well!

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Trying to work up the motivation to hit the treadmill while DD naps... it's so hard to resist the couch some days!

nice job on reaching the 160s...oooh how I miss those numbers! Still in the 180s, it is tough some days with 2 kids under 3. But all I can do is keep at it!

Have a great day everyone!

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

Lancey: I just hit the 160's as well - Whoo Whoo! Love it! I'm glad you got some exercises that are working for you while your ankle heals.

am pleased as punch that I'm sticking to the plan this week; even yesterday, I planned to go to the gym and wasn't able to get away to do it... so last night I plugged in Just Dance on the Wii, and sweated it out for 30 minutes, my 13 year old joined in on the fun which made it totally not a workout at all - it was hilarious!

I lost 30 pounds on SPARK before...and now I'm back to lose the baby weight!

LYANCEY, great news!!! So nice that you can exercise while recuperating, and awesome about losing 2 lbs anyway! Woo-hoo!

KKLEIN, I just want to second exactly what PINKCAT said about sleep training. Instituting a good bedtime routine and putting DD down when she's still awake has been key to our happiness! We had a rough patch at 9 or 10 months, but a little extra training has solved that as well. It was literally 3-4 bad nights and then problem solved. Good luck!!!!!!

I talked to a fitness "expert" about what workouts I could do while my ankle is healing. I've got a plan in place now, so I'm back in the saddle!! Did some cardio and strength training last night on the bike and burned 537 calories in 63 minutes. Feels great to be back!

Major bonus, I checked my weight today and fully expected to have gained a pound or two, but actually have lost .2 lbs. I don't know that I will actually consider that a loss yet, but it was nice to be in the 160s again. Haven't seen them in over a year!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

ouch on the ankle injury! I hope it heals soon!

KKLEIN1974,
How do you put your baby to sleep at night? nurse/feed to sleep or do you let him go to sleep on his own?

at 7 mos he shouldn't need to eat in the middle of the night anymore but if he is used to falling asleep while eating then it will be hard for him to put himself back to sleep if he wakes up in the middle of the night.

With my 1st baby I did not know anything about how to get my baby to sleep on her own...no one ever mentioned it! So at 8-9 months old she was still up several times a night..I was a wreck! I did some internet research because I had had enough and read about sleep training. Once we did that, she slept through the night 8pm-8am every single time!

With my 5 month old baby, I started getting her used to putting herself to sleep around a month old and she has been sleeping the 8-8 schedule for many months now.

Good luck!

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

ouch, I hope that ankle gets better quickly - don't push it! Maybe you can do some floor strength training in the meantime, stuff that doesn't require a healthy ankle! My weekend, sigh... I did OK, but I started out planning to do ALOT better. I was so stinkin tired yesterday... today I did make myself healthy lunches to take to work all week, cut up veggies, all of that, I put workouts on my schedule. I Will do this! My success today was going out to eat and ordering a salad! And my hubby ALWAYS gets dessert at this restraunt, but baby was getting tired and it was time to go before we had a screaming baby - hence no temptation for dessert. Yay!

Ouch! Take care of yourself and as long as you do your best when you can then you won't fall off completely. I keep telling myself that and it works- mostly. when my husband gets back home he's promised to give me a break and maybe then I can get some real sleep!

I'm sorry to all those who have sleeping issues (or children with sleeping issues!!). It is so difficult to be productive or even think clearly when you aren't getting a solid amount of sleep at night. We still have rough nights here, but now I just ignore and he goes back to sleep! Maybe some day he won't wake up at all...

Well, my ankle is still a little messed up. I thought it was getting better until I fell on the ice in our driveway (carrying the baby) and then it swelled again. I've been icing it multiple times a day, and I know it will just take time but I'm driving myself crazy. I don't know about you all, but I have a way harder time eating well when I'm not working out, I haven't gone off the reservation completely, but it's getting harder. I don't want gain back everything I've lost and have to start over again. I also am such a fraidy cat, I keep remembering what happened when I hurt myself and I'm terrified of doing it again... I've never had an injury before so I'm hoping this is temporary and when I get back into my routine I will forget about that moment...

Anyway, I'm jealous of all of you who are working out. Hopefully I'll be joining you very soon!

yes it is harder! I finished off a pan of brownies I said I wouldn't touch! I know things will change with his sleeping and then things will change with me too! i used to work out 6 days a week and eat healthy and I will slowly get back to that...or at least the eating healthy part :-)
