I may try it again in the future. I am having the same problems with my right knee whenever I do an exercise, i spin three times a week and my knee usually screams at me, the dr. is going to give me three shots over a 3month period, but it's not cortisone. I hope your knees feel better, have a good weekend.

The oatmeal makes a lot so up to you if you will eat it all. I looked up that chicken salsa recipe and it sure gets lots of good reviews. When I have questions i go on the message boards where you can leave a question about a topic. I may try that recipe sometime too. I should use the slowcooker more often. Once i start yardwork i don't feel like cooking an evening meal. My one knee is giving me grief so back to ibuprofen and will end up going for a cortisone shot. I had one in the other knee a couple years ago and it is starting to bother a little. One morning I get up and nothing hurts, another morning everything hurts, go figure. Also have degenertive discs in my neck and my should and upper arm are sore, too many years if bowling and using an adding machine and cash register when i worked. oh well, take my time and i get it done or cut back. Have a great weekend, I was hoping to hear from someone else if they tried the salsa recipe.Georgine emoticon emoticon

I haven't tried that yet, but I want to try the oatmeal in the crockpot, but my daughter doesn't like oatmeal, so it would only be for me, so I am wondering if it's even worth it. I never thought of asking chef Meg, would she answer me back? I have put spinache in my meatloaf and it was great, I even used spinach leafs in my subway sandwich instead of lettuce, and it was really good, I like the fact that I am slowly learning to eat food I would never eat before.

Oh oh, the salsa chicken sounded so good too! I always put shredded carrot in my meat loaf, my mom taught me to put it into anything for moisture. Well, I remembered to leave the crockpot out for the oatmeal and then couldn't remember where i put the recipe. emoticon I Haven't really looked at the cookbook yet and need to look at the Avon one again. Never seems to be enuff time but then i should cut some time on the computer, my friends got me playing some of the games with them, takes a lot of time but it is fun. Hope the rice works to use up the juice in the chicken. You should ask Chef Meg about it. I don't like to waste food either and it sure is a let down when something doesn't come out the way we expect. Have a good day anyway, Georgine emoticon

I must have done something wrong because it was way too soupy, and I even forgot to put the can of diced tomatoes in, and it was still so soupy. I tasted it and it was very bland, my daughter doesn't like it either. I am going to try and mix it with rice and see if that works, I hate to waste food, but it seems like this just did not turn out right. I did make meatloaf and added shredded carrots for the first time, it tastes good, but the meat is kind of tough, where it is usually moist, I may have cooked it too long, thinking I needed to, to make sure the carrots were done.

How was the salsa chicken? Is it a Sparks recipe? I print the recipes and then forget i have them. I go back to the same old and yet would like something new, just have to make myself take the time to try things. I do like the barbecued pork chop recipe i tried from one of the little cookbooks i bought where i used to work. Georgine emoticon

I am trying the Salsa chicken in the crockpot today, this is the first time I am making it, the comment about it were very positive, so I thought I would try it for my daughter and myself, since I will be working 3rd shift like a mad woman throughout June.

I forgot i have that recipe box, that's what happens when I put it on top the fridge and forget it. I had picked out some recipes to try but I never did it. Also, i found a lot of little recipe books in the convenience store where i worked and they have lots of recipes. Found my favorite pork chop recipe in one. Sparks has tons of recipes also. This Avon recipe box,it comes with the recipes already in it for slow cookers? I need recipes that are easy to make in the crockpot that my 14yr. old would like. I love making chili in it, and freeze small portions that I then bring to work, but she is chillied out!

Maybe if you try it some day when you are home to watch it and follow what it is doing? 9 hours on low should be fine, strange, Georgine

When I have to work and cook for 9 hours I always cook things on low. That is the crazy part. Anything in that crock pot has to be cooked in less time than in any other crockpot. I am thinking cooking on defrost is okay because it is getting hotter than my other crock pots.

Wow! i have one big crockpot too but it has always been full when we use it. sounds like the heat is too high for 9 hours? This happens even when it is on low? Georgine

Okay so I have numerous crock pots but I have a large one that if it is not full it will burn stuff. I put ribs in it one time while at work because of the length they would not fit in my smaller crockpot. They where brickets when I came home. If I am going to be away for 9 hours can I cook stuff on the defrost settling. I know that sounds weird but I have done soup that way before in the crock pot and it turned out okay. How would other stuff be?

I've had a great crockpot week! I made bbq chicken in one while making chili in the other.
Unfortunately, my lid handle broke off yesterday. I'm hoping I can glue it...but if not I'll have to buy another. Bummer. Gotta have my crockpots though!

I haven't used a crock pot for very many recipes. I think if I could properly use it, I'd be thrilled. My main concern is that I don't know how to adjust cooking times. Sometimes the recipe calls for 6 hours, but I won't get home form work for at least 8 or 9 hours. I'm worried that it will be burnt or dried out. Any suggestions?

Just received an email from a friend with many crockpot recipes in it. Already printed one for pepper steak as my husband loves it and I have a few fresh peppers left from the garden. I haven't used the recipes from Avon yet. I am a bad procrastinator and have to really focus to get going on things or just talk about doing it. Will try this recipe this week. Just went to the store but hubby is always willing to go. His brother owns the store so he likes to go and gab but he spends too much then! will let you all know how this one is, sounds easy and good! Georgine emoticon

I don't know anyone selling Avon at this time, but will check out the website. If you find something extremely good or very different - Please share!

My friend is an Avon lady and i just bought the recipe box for crockpot cooking from Avon. Now to make sure i use it on the days I work. Am hopeful. I am notorious for getting stuck in a rut, making plans mentally that never leave the rut. we will see.
