Lorrie - I think you have made a lot of improvements to your health even though the scale hasn't moved much. Keep it up!
Carol - I'm still working on a sensible food plan too.

Am I just missing where the sign-ups for the 3rd quarter challenge are? Or haven't they been posted yet?

Favall, I'm thankful for your support too. Do the 3rd quarter start in July? I have a challenge to lose 30 pounds this summer..,. If July is the beginning of our 3rd quarter, that will be perfect. .

For the week 13 bonus task, I am to talk about my assessment on the challenge. I am disappointed that I have only lost 3 pounds during the challenge. On the positive side, I've managed to loose one percentage body fat without loosing any of my lean body mass. I have been doing all of this quarter under care from a new doctor and a new diet routine. I can tell that I am much healthier, I am down one size, and have more energy but the scale has been all over the place which is frustrating. My doctor is confident that we will achieve both goals over time: health and lower weight. Due to my past cancer history, the health is a higher priority. I need to keep my focus and proceed with my program. While I am far down the road from where I started, I am still a long way from my goal weight. I appreciate all of your support on my journey.

Working a sensible food plan still has a few hic-cups in it for me. I'm good one day, and then I'm bad the next day. I need to figure out which foods are the most powerful, satisfying and lowest in calories and that would benefit me the most.

Congratulations Lori! Recommend that you share you food plan on a blog. There were lots of great ideas and it is obviously working well.

We have strange weather for June in CA and it's thrown off my workout plan. My DH and I were going to ride bikes after work but the rain is lurking so I'm doing a cardio DVD at home. Food has also been a little off, too. I'm not going over my calorie or composition ranges but have eaten a few different items than I originally planned. I'm choosing to stay the course this evening.

Hope you all are doing well!

Thank you all for the congradutions.
It was fun shopping for smaller sizes, both because there is so much more choices and the as a reward for going down.
The changes were hard at first, but they are starting to become habits and I know I will need those habits to support me in the summer cook out season. Thank goodness all the veggies and fruits are so fresh and refreshing in the heat.

Hello everyone
I reached my goal for the challenge so I went shopping and bought a pair of jeans the next size down, 2 pairs of shoes, several purses, many tops and blouses. Some are a bit tight but I am looking forward to trying them on in the coming weeks to see the it change.

I really need to incorporate regular exercise into my day. That is my big goal in the coming month, and next quarter.

I've stayed in the Q2 challenge while incorporating the diet and calorie changes from my new doctor. My reward for sticking with it will be minor - a new workout top. Unfortunately, the amount of weight lost is still TOO SLOW! I am nowhere near the 25 lbs goal so I am holding off on that big trip reward until that pounds loss goal is achieved.

Checking in her. i've actually gained back alll of the weight that i lost (50 pounds). Now it is almost exactly 2 years after i started making a real change in the right direction. It is time, but it is very difficult for me to turn away from the wrong direction.

It is great to hear/read about getting down to lower pants sizes! These things help! thanks, dDawn

I've been considering how to better protect myself from relationships that cause me grief and stress. My past response was to turn to emotional eating. Now that I'm down a more "enlightened" path, I'm evaluating other approaches to those situations (keeping the relationship casual like an acquaintance, not sharing with them things that really matter to me, keeping the interactions short, covering the contact in prayer before and after, planning an exercise stress relieving session for immediately after a known contact).

What items trigger you to eat off plan and how are you going to handle them differently going forward?

Keep at the Zumba. I took classes 3 times a week, always staying in the back, until I got some of the basics down. It was always fun and at my size burned 750 calories in a very fast hour. The movements whittled my midsection and built my endurance. Enjoy!

My husband and I planned a bike ride today on a new route. It turned out to be a 7 mile long low climb and it was 105 degrees. There was another 6 miles to continue but I opted to sit in a lovely playground watching toddlers play while my DH did the extra 6 miles with the even styled climbs. He met me and we rode back to the car. My ride was 14 miles. I was satisfied, especially after my 3 hr work out last night and the heat factor.

What are you all doing for fun this weekend?

In April, I dropped into size 18 and bought several new pairs of pants but one of them was a NO WAY. Yesterday, I tried them on again and the gap is still about an inch at the waist. Then I checked the label and they are a 16! I am close.... and it has spurred me to ratchet down my program and reach forward to that next goal milestone.

What is your motivation?

I struggle with my program when I travel, too. I try to get in extra exercise in order to offset the meals cooked by others.

I seem to be back in the saddle again... yeah! Feeling less stressed by the food choices today. It maybe because all of the "grandkid" food is gone from my house so there is less stress temptations. We also got in a couple to great bike rides over the weekend. Exercising outdoors in nice weather always lifts my spirits. I am a gym rat for the fitness minutes ticker advance but being outdoors is fun, too.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Hi All. Just checking in. I haven't been on here much, but I have been sticking with the challenges, even though I haven't lost any weight. Graduation is over, my daughter is packed and ready to move, and we're heading to Maine for a quick weekend of de-stressing. I told my husband when we get back, we are getting back into planning meals and going through cookbooks.

We used to both pick something new to try each week. One week would be his choice and the next would be mine. That's how I was successful and lost my first 20 pounds. Plus the pool is now open, so that will help with exercise.

Congratulations to all of you who are still here plugging along. Remember: "Slow and steady wins the race!" Good luck everyone. See you in a couple of days.

Today is beautiful in CA. I am committed to my goals. I am still feeling a bit triggered toward loneliness (not sure why). To combat that driver, I will take the following measures:
* I've preplaned my food and fitness activities.
* I will track both areas in SP as the day progresses.
* I am working in the office, listening to nice music (stress reliever) while I tackle the computer tasks.
* I am sparkin on my break time.
* I've a made list of tasks to do when I get home tonight just in case the feeling is lingerin (during a common time for off plan eating).

I'm grateful for our team's support.

I am still sticking with the challenge. I probably won't reach the 25 pound goal, but I am not quitting! I just continue to remind myself why I started this weight loss jouney to begin with--to be healthier! So even when I don't lose or even if I gain, I know that for the most part I am eating healthier and my lab values reflect those changes that I have already made!

Hi team,
I am continuing in the Q2 challenge. My current goal is to preplan my meals for the day and then to actually eat only those items. My downfall in the past couple of months has been that I'm too tired after my late afternoon / early evening workouts to cook the food that I'd planned. On the nights I eat alone (DH is out playing music), I can eat lighter pre-made quick foods. On the nights when I cook for both of us, I am going to pre-cook where possible and plan for less complicated dinner meals so that there is less work for me at dinner time. Hopefully, this strategy will prove to be successful. I'd appreciate any pointers from people who've mastered this challenge.

Not much going on around here. I just have to work today and that's about it. We have no big plans coming up.
I'm going to go get my lunch packed.. that's one of my downfalls - I rarely pack a lunch and then end up eating fast food... that stops today! It doesn't help my waist line or my bank account.

Angie You are still here participating in the challenge. So you are entitled to the bonus points! We get a lot of drop outs so this is my way of rewarding you for sticking with the challenge!

I'm always curious about things successful people are doing, whether its a food plan, tracking, an exercise program. If your doing something that you think -THIS I've got down and I know it's working, that is the kind of stuff that is Great!

Go for it, Angie! You deserve to be full of health!
I've had an interesting weekend without ANY exercise. That is a first in about 2 years. There was too much going on and the weather was crummy.... plus I didn't want to walk on my treadmill. Tomorrow is a the start of the week and I've a personal training session scheduled so I'll be back movin' real soon.

To those of you who serve in the military and their families....THANK YOU!

Hi team!
I'm just checking in. I gained yet again today. I really haven't been sticking to plan well (at all, really) but I am recommitting and will get this weight off!!
I know the bonus this week is to get points for sticking with the challenge... I'm not sure if it counts for me because I haven't been following plan, but I have been checking in every few days. I think I'll just start over with this week.
Have a great Memorial Day!

I try to face each day with a rememberance of why I am aiming toward better health rather than loosing weight. Its taking the pressure off my mind and puts me in a positive achievable state of mind. The weight is slowly coming off and the stress is much less.

I haven't been doing well for a couple months now. I really need to get back on track because I've gained most of my weight back and I feel like crud from eating all the junk.

Hi, just a quick check-in! I haven't been on track lately... been super busy, and my routine is thrown off too. My daughter is spending this week with my parents for the first time ever!

Hi everyone!

I was just noticing in the reporting thread how GREAT some people are doing. I'm wondering what type of food plan they are on. Can the challenge leaders maybe share that?

My weight is coming off sloooooooooooooooow. It's getting frustrating! I'm eating about 1200-1400 cals and walking everyday. I feel like I should at least lose 2 pounds a week. I'm only losing 1 and sometimes not even that.

Hi team!
Sorry that I've been MIA. My life duties have been really busy lately. Things should start slowing down later this week. I'm still a bit off kilter with the diet changes from the new doctor and struggling with low energy. I hope you all are doing well.

TTFN,
Lorrie

Having a hard time getting back on track. Spent the weekend at a conference for work in Fort Myers, FL. I had a wonderful time with my little sister (I don't get to see her much). She drove down from Pensacola to spend the weekent with me. Had beautiful weather! Didn't eat so great thought. I really need to concentrate on tracking and really watching my intake this week.

Was missing in Miami for while myself. i knew where i was-- in the ice cream freezer! It has been over a week now that i have not had the dreaded concoction and boy do i feel betterer. While my food intake has not been perfect, i've been able to drop a couple of fast pounds. Again. Yes they are again pounds, but darned if i am not determined to push them away and keep them away.

I started the challenge late, but needed to be involved with a weight loss challenge that makes sense for me. Taking off 25 a quarter is not jut possible, it is probable if i keep at it.

thanks for being here when it was time to return.

Cheers,
dDawn emoticon

Well I have taped on a little fan to the bottom of my laptop and am hoping that it will let me work for longer than 30 minutes before the computer dies. I was able to post April's Weight Loss Leader Board and have put the link on the Team Stream where we also do our huddle. Melinda has also added a link that looks Awesome. So I hope that you will all check it out.

How are you all doing?

Karen Congratulations on your daughters Graduation!
Angie So glad to see your still checking in hope things are going well for you!

I was looking at the Bonus Thread and Realized we are half way through this Challenge! I can hardly believe it. Time is going too FAST!

Is anyone substituting foods this week? Do you have a favorite?

Hello All. I, too, have been MIA for a while. I will be back on track in a few days. My daughter graduated from college last week and we're having a party for her this weekend, so I've been kind of busy with that.

I hope you are all having much success! Keep on pushing! We all hit bumps in the road, but they are just little blips that we can overcome.

Have a good week everyone.

Karen
