Welcome Rosebud, JustdoitMarci and other newbies. I'm excited to see this next challenge as well and I'm glad you are here. I like to just scroll through all the people in the challenge and realize how much weight is being lost overall.

I am thrilled at my loss so far. I've found that I keep tripping, etc and getting hurt or being sore. Talked to my dr today and we agreed that I'm moving more and faster is the reason why! :)

Good job losing 25 pounds in a short period of time. I hope you will post to the challenge forum when the next challenge starts. If you get in the habit of posting each week everyone will see how successful you are and be motivated to lose more themselves!!

I know using the app is faster and easier...but becoming a part of the challenge will motivate you even more!!!

The next challenge starts Oct. 1st. Hope you will be part of it!!

I know it's really late to post on here since there is only a week left to this challenge. I haven't been faithful to SP, but the last month or so I've been trying log on here more. It helps bc I've been logging in my weight with the app, but you can't log into the teams so I don't really think to post on here.

Anyway, I wanted to post that since aug 12th, I've lost 25 lbs. So I have about 80 pounds to go. I'm definately lookin forward to the next challenge to stay motivated to get this weight off. I've tried off and on for the last 7 years to lose this weight. I decided to have another baby in the middle of that tho. :) this is the first time since I've really tried to lose weight since my youngest was born and he turns three next sat. So I'm excited to be apart of these challenges from here on out!!

emoticon Disappointed in this past weeks lack of progress/setback, it certainly has been yet another stressful & very emotional week! However that said I have tried really hard to stay on track but have succumbed to needing to eat whatever was available (mainly pizza). Even at one or two reasonable slices eating that for several days and little exercise (my feet hurt so badly)has resulted in my emoticon .8 lb gain this week. I know that's not much of a gain but since starting 10 weeks ago I have had steady loss no matter how small .

emoticon 10 years I never be one to sit idle why things are array and complain I would simply tell myself okay.... now what am I going to do about it ? I realized that I have really lost myself these past years.

emoticon What am I going to do: I am regrouping and intend to be successful this week. I plan to pack some things at night and in the morning before I leave according to nutrition plan so then I will have something to eat while at hospital or to fro all these Dr. appt's.

I know the people who stick out the whole challenge are awesome! That alone is a hard thing to do. I have just been added to the team leader "team" and am really looking forward to cheering everyone on in the challenges and hopefully mix things up for the next one a tiny bit to make it more active and exciting! Down to the last few weeks of this challenge, my first here. I haven't gotten to know any of you yet, but it seems not very many people are still doing it.... "Anyway I'm still here literally eating myself healthy and working my butt off" !! To date I haven't gotten rid of as many lbs as I wanted to by now but I think 23lbs in 8 weeks is pretty good !

The alien in the movie Starman said what he liked about humans was that "they were at their best when they were at their worst".

This is hard to explain but true. When we are beaten down and at our worst is when all those qualities that make humans great are easy to see.

At the end of the day when we are tired, angry, and hungry is when a small effort on our part can pay big dividends. Not eating comfort foods can save two days of dieting.

It is hard to describe.

Put it this way. If you feel your efforts show no success just wait until you are tired and beaten down and try it. This is when your efforts show their best benefit.

I am thinking about mental games I can play to help lose weight. Of course it is not really a game.

1. think of all the positive things that will happen when I lose.
2. Visualize myself at my goal weight.
3. Make a mental list of all the things that help weight loss.
4. make a mental list of all the things I will do today for weight loss.
5. mentally list the negatives about weight loss and then flip them to the positive side. As in "I am so fat" to "I lost 2 pounds last week and am thinner than I was before". I can do the same this week. "I am thinner".
6. Go over my successes for the last 24 hours.

I like this group. Nothing motivates me as much as success does. Success leads to more success. If you can lose 2 pounds then you can lose 200 pounds. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will go away.

I love being a part of the quarterly challenge. It's one of my rewards when I've lost weight to log it in there. And it's so encouraging to me to read everyone's posts and see how as a group we are losing. You are all amazing! I used to feel like losing weight was a battle against my own body. It's so reassuring to see that our bodies actually function well and when we feed them and move them as intended, they naturally gravitate toward a healthy weight. It may not be a smooth, consistent loss, but it adds up to a downward trend and better health.

im new to the challenge and am welcoming the challenge i have close to 150 to loose by the time im 40 and im 38 now so i have to get focoused and stay strong and work hard im going from couch potatoe to active in a short amt of time i was useing a cane but i seem to be moving enough now that i dont need it that much so heres to a great week

Just wanted to pipe in and say that joining Team Challenges has been the best decision I have made (besides tracking calories!) on Spark People. It makes me feel a lot more personally accountable for my weight loss every single week and the fitness minutes I get in as well. It's a HUGE motivator and I think everyone should do it! It keeps me pumped up. Getting/having to post every week always keeps a goal in mind for just a few days away... and I really like that.

Awww, don't be sad! Just focus on doing all you can to get to a number you are proud of! Lol, besides, if you are anything like me then before this our times would have been HOURS long because we would rather sit at the couch or computer than walk a mile - hahaha!

I don't like going out in the heat either. I haven't exercised in a long time. I used to run. I got out and walked when the temp was only 82 degrees. It took me 21 minutes to walk a mile. I'm a little sad about that, but I'm excited to get going again.

I am so excited about this challenge! I walked outside today!

Lol - I am usually a baby when it comes to the heat, but I needed to time how long it took me to hit a mile, and within about 100 steps I realized I have been missing out! If I can walk everyday like I did today that 25 lbs will be GONE!!! WooHOO!!

I want to lose 25 pounds or more by the end of March. I have lost 23 pounds and am hoping to lose more. I am trying not to eat sugar and the not so good carbs. I am drinking my water and exercising. I would like to lose more by the end of March. I have been doing one kind of diet and will start Weight Watchers tomorrow. Spark People is fun and keeps me on track. I love Spark People!!!

I didn't even join the challenge, even though I desperately want to lose another 45 pounds before I start maintaining.

I don't do well in the winter. And I know we haven't had much winter this year, the days are still shorter and the sun almost non-existent!!

I only lost 16 pounds in the last challenge, so I am not losing as fast as when I started. It's a bit discouraging.....but I plug away. I will not lose 100s in a year. I only lost 55, because my year is up. But I stay on the team because I like it and I like being a co-leader of this team.

Your rant was good timing for me. I know there are some on the team doing very well and those of us doing just okay or gaining.

Don't get discouraged!! You are leading a healthy lifestyle and you have to take it one day at a time!! I take my hat off to you for being able to post your gain. I haven't posted my weight in several months. Sorry for being such a bad example!! I can't bear to see my ticker go the opposite way.

Have a great day!! Keep up the good work! I'll think of you next time I think about putting sugar products in my mouth...and ask myself if I really want it!!

Man, am I doing aweful. Is anyone else in a funk? I think I'm starting to get out of it. It started with not losing as much as I wanted in January. My dh pointed out that at least it's a loss, though small - could be a gain! I thought, yeah right. Then it just kind of snowballed after that with the big punch being Valentine's Day. He bought me some really good chocolates and I made him and the kids some cake pops. Needless to say, I didn't offer up any restraint. I am currently UP 1.4 pounds!!! WTH?

So, getting real with myself I posted my horrid gains when I was supposed to be losing. I had my little pity party and now I'm getting over it. I planned a breakfast and snacks for all week. Lunch is usually last night's leftovers and I have a few meals planned for dinner as well. My worst time comes when it's afternoon and quiet around here. Something make me want to pig out like crazy.

Alright, I just had to get it out and was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat. If you read this, thanks for 'listening' to me rant. And, if you aren't in the same boat as me and you are doing spectacular, hats off to you! I'll just keep plugging along.

No need to report to anyone...just keep posting in the challenge forum. Make sure you posted a beginning weight, from January 1 or 1st weigh in of January and a March 30 weigh in weight. I score the challenge and just run down the forum and write down the weights and names. Hope that answers your questions! Angie

Hey Hey!! Hope you are all having a wonderful start to your weekend!
I just finished planning my meals for the next 2 weeks as I will not be getting very busy at work (taxes) and then if I don't have something planned I have a tendency to "grab & go". I really do much better if I sit and take about 1/2 hour for my meal time. I feel so much more satisfied when I take the time rather than eating on-the-go.
I am DETERMINED to meet this challenge and to continue right on to my goal weight!! emoticon
Excited about weighing tomorrow. I feel like a SUCCESS!

I'm new to the challenge too! My goal right now is "as low as possible" before my wedding, but ultimately, I want to finish the year as close to 130 as possible, although 142 would be wonderful too, as it's my former skinny weight from the first time I did all this.

I'm working on cutting out wheat due to suspected sensitivity, so hopefully that works out! Good luck, all!

emoticon Hello team ....I've been MIA but now back and ready to make a difference!

October we moved, Novemeber and December in addition to holiday temptations I landed some big writing projects and stressful deadlines ...eating at the desk is NOT the way to get numbers moving DOWn.....I'm declaring 2012 the year of NO EXCUSES and so have started exercising with the new Sparks 28 Day BootCamp DVD ( completed Day 6) and I'm committing to this 25 lb challenge!!!!

I have to apologize for being absent during this challenge. I have been having some mental/emotional issues, but I am back!! I will be scoring the challenge on January 1st, 2012. No body is deleting posts. Even the leaders of the team are not able to delete posts. We can change threads, but to my knowledge that has not happen either.

I want to congratulate all who have continued to lose weight during this 3 month challenge.

Again, I am back and ready to get into the next challenge. I want to lose the 45 pounds that is holding me back!!

Good luck to all that have been steadily losing.

We will know the winner next week. Don't forget to get your final weigh in by midnight on the 31st of December.

The posts are still there, they're just hidden. Change the sort view (newest on top instead) and you should be able to find it. I believe it was just a glitch and no one went thru deleting posts.

I feel you, Larry A5! Finally moving past plateau! Had to do some shaking up. Extra moving AND Lessss food most days (trying to avoid that real thing starvation mode means I get to eat well some days).

Congrats LarryA5! Keep at it. There are a couple who posted over 10 pound losses forOctober in the challenge. Whoohoo! Others who posted a little less, some creeping along.

Let's keep at this yall..I need to let go of this fat mass and gain me some lean. How about you? Can you post what's working and what is not working for you?

Re learning to lose the taste for unhealthy food. hmmm i guess i'm not really there, but I am thrilled that I am gaining the craving for REAL FOOD. And even today when thinking of a treat-- part of me wants to go CRAZY, so I'm steering clear of the candy aisles- I just have to. BUT I"m really looking forward to that Macintosh with Peanut butter that I've planned for. That is a NEW taste treat that my sister used as her breakfast (she is not a typical breakfast fan but back then she was on insulin so had to have something)during the time she lost her first 100 of 130. When she stopped allowing herself such goodies, she stopped losing.

I'm using HER success as a guide for sure. But I've got to make sure it works for my body and workstyle.

I believe that what will get me on through this adventure is eating real food (Kale and romaine are current faves!) and some occasionally allowed and tracked real junk food(fried jalapena poppers yumm) , getting BACK on the horse (had a rough throw into depression and pain last week) and moving my body in any way I can!

This goes out to all of you that have struggled but then conquered!

I have been struggling since this time last year! Where I could have been if I had continued on my journey rather than getting derailed! AUGH

If you have struggled, but finally "got it" and are back on track...What worked for you!!

I so want to be one of those people that learns to dislike unhealthy food and learn to love/crave exercise! But where I am now, I dont see it happening!!

Good for you for not gaining, Angie! The week i've had i will be really proud if i did not gain. I weighed in at a 40 pound loss in entirety(only 5 this challenge, though), But I made a Big goal. I'd like to be able to record it here this week. Hope hope I won't have to record a gain.
