I don't think it is good to deny yourself cravings. If you only do that 1 piece it's all good. Yesterday, I had to have cake to celebrate our living here for 21 years. I made a very small one so we wouldn't overdo.

Not that this is all that healthy, but I've been allowing myself only one Ghiradelli dark chocolate square every few nights after dinner. It's 52.5 calories, but satisfies my chocolate craving. Knowing that I'm going to treat myself to one at night has helped me to not snack too much during the day.

Good choice!

Another thing that satisfies me and doesn't wreck my diet is a good quality yogurt. Lots of protein.

Last night I had a root beer float so that I could get the leftover ice cream and 1/2 bottle of root beer out of my freezer and refrigerator. Bad! But it's gone now and no longer tempting me.

How about a high protein shake or a protein bar after dinner? If the protein bar is too sweet, eat a piece of low cal cheese with it to counteract the sugars.

Good luck on getting back on track!

I find myself eating all the wrong things after dinner. Last night was popcorn which would be OK except for the butter. I have really needing to get back on track so today I decided it is time to start over. Wish me luck.

Has anyone tried the Sunsweet Plum Amazins? They are diced dried plums and are 100 calories per 1/4 cup serving.

I found them to be rather rubbery in texture right out of the container. This morning I put them in my hot oatmeal and they were much better, having soaked up some of the moisture.

They would probably make a good after-dinner snack if you reconstitute them a bit first.

Oops! Not lo-cal after dinner snacking tonight!

On Monday night I bought an Amaretto pound cake at an auction, and I just had to have a piece tonight. I thought I would freeze it and save it to serve at Thanksgiving, but it got the better of me...

The sugar-free jello with bananas sounds good.
I bought some of those little shortcakes today and will have strawberries with Reddi-Whip on them tonight. I know. I'm bad.

I love peanut butter so most mornings my breakfast is one slice of whole wheat bread, 1 tsp I can't believe it's not butter and 2 tablespoons of pnut butter. 387 calories of pure joy that sticks with me til lunch!

I need to hide the peanut butter jar from myself this week! (And no, throwing it completely out is not an option. I'm not willing to go that far yet.)

This week it has been fresh strawberries with a dollap of whip cream. Yummy - I like jello as an evening snack (sugar free) no calories and yummy.

Forgot to add to that last post -- after eating the yogurt I can save the container for using with various crafts.

I like having a fruit-flavored Yoplait fat free yogurt. Usually 100 or 110 calories.

I find that spreading out my calories throughout the day, including an evening snack, keeps me happy. If I'm not happy then its not something I can continue.

I am working n not having snacks in the evening its hard but worth it for me.
How about having your dessert in the evening rather than after dinner that way you are still eating the same amount of calories just spreading them over the evening.

Thanks for the snacking ideas. I saw this idea in a mag today. Make a cup of hot peppermint tea, add 1/2 tsp of cocoa powder, add your choice of sweetener and milk or soy. I haven't tried it but I'll let you know if it is as good as starbucks...lol

If I eat a snack it is usually pretzels or animal crackers. They both only have 110 calories in them. But the choc. animal crackers have 120.

I rarely eat snacks in the evening. It's not amazing willpower; I'm almost never hungry between dinner and bedtime. Most of my dinners are very high in fiber (we eat a lot of legumes), and therefore are very filling. Evening snacking has never been a problem. On rare occasions when I do get hungry, I usually opt for popcorn or a high fiber granola bar.

Sugar free pudding is good, (fat free if that is your dieting method) with lite cool whip,or if you like the crunchies, how 'bout 100 cal bags of micro-pop corn? You get a lot in one of those bags!! Sometimes a cup of tea will help me, I love vanilla Chai. I'm lucky, no kids at home and Hubs like healthy food.. my problem is when I'm alone.. I'm a sneaky- snacka.. emoticon

My biggest problem when it comes to loosing weight is trying not to snack at night. Once I put my kids to bed, I like to hit the couch with a can of pringles or anything else I can get my hands on. Does anyone have any good, low calorie snack ideas? Thanks a bunch.
Jules
