Hi! Could you email the point system to me for this contest? I'm always looking for things to use for contests for our group. We have an elderly group of women who are very sedentary for the most part. We are trying to get them to move as well as other disciplines. I can use some help! Thanks! Nita

One of our contests that is going well and we have started repeating, it has been written into our bylaws is we got a coffee container that was empty and a roll of tickets, some purple marbles and 1 white marble. Every week people spend $1 to buy three tickets. Then they pick someone to draw the ticket to see who gets to try to draw the name of the person who will get to try to draw the white marble out of the coffee container. Every week when the marble has been drawn out, the marble is kept out. When the white marble is finally drawn out the money that has been collected is divided between the person who drew the white ticket out, the IRD and SRD. (EACH ONE GETS 1/3 OF THE MONEY). The one time the contest finished was 3 weeks ago. $327 dollars were given to each. If the white marble is not drawn out all the purple marbles are added again to the coffee container and the contest continues until the white marble is drawn. Week before last we voted and the contest was restarted. Whether you lose or not does not effect whether or not you can play or draw. You aren't allowed to buy more than 1 ticket any week though. They have allowed people to buy tickets for friends that couldn't stay for the meeting. If you have any questions, let me know, if I don't know I will ask the treasurer.

Something else I have started doing more is genealogy. I have things from both sides of the family. I wish I had asked even more questions, but I have been reading more about how to do it. I still have my Mother to ask questions on her side of the family, and 2 Aunts that might be able to help on the other side. My father lives in Australia so he is hard
We started an Easter contest. We filled a Easter basket with plastic eggs filled with a quarter or two or three all the way up to a dollar. If you loose weight that week you get the money that matches the amount you lost the trick is you have to keep it off the next week in order to receive the eggs filled with money. We felt this would be a good contest because so many of our members struggle with the same five pounds so hopefully this will keep them going in the right direction.

I would love to know the points and any other pertinent information on this contest. I am going to have my new co-leader be the contest leader also and I know she would appreciate some "different" contests to try. I want to give her a good selection to start with then let her out on her own. So if you could let me know I would appreciate it. Thank you!
We started this fun contest two weeks ago, it's called Diet Tribes. It's kind of based on the Survivor Theme. All members are divided into tribes, picked by drawing names to keep it fair. Per person- 5 points are given out or subtracted per pound lost or gained. 1 point for 1/2 pound. 1 point added for excused absence, 1 taken away for unexcused absence. 2 points for turtling. ect, ect. I can't remember off the top of my head all the points rules. Each week the tribes add up their points and compare with the others. At the end of three months all points will be tallied and prizes will be presented. If you like this contest give me a hollar and I will get a hold of the official points for you.
Weigh-in is tonight. Can't decide how I will do. In spite of watching what I ate and exercising this week, the scale hasn't moved much. Of course I got a new scale- maybe that's why.

I see several great contest ideas here. I will definitely suggest these to my group.
The contest we are currently running we call DIMES. I saved up a bunch of prescription bottles, removed their labels, put a members name on each one of them then had them put 10 dimes in their container. Each time the member loses weight they get to take out a dime and put it into the prize jar. The first person to empty their bottle wins the contents of the prize jar. The remaining folks keep going until all the dimes are won. We are down to two people having one dime in their bottle. So this week may be the week the first prize jar is won!
My club is currently doing a conest called Touring the Counties in Ohio. There are 88 counties on an outline map of Ohio. The members have to lose weight to be able to color in 2 counties, if they turtle they get to color in one county, if they excerise 3 days of 10-15 minutes they can color in a county, if they drink 4 bottles of water or 8 8oz. glasses of water a day for a week, they get to color in a county, if they keep a food journal for the week, they get to color in a county, and if they contact a TOPS member that week they get to color in a county. We are running this for 12 weeks. The first two people done get to get a little bag each of goodies that everyone brings in. Each person gets up to 6 counties to color in each week.

Our group is doing a spring cleaning contest. Each one entered has a laminated drawing of a house of rooms. You work your way through each room by losing weight. If you gain that week you bring in an item such as paper towels. window cleaner, whatever costs about $1.00. (Actually, I didn't join the contest because last week was my last week. I'm transferring to another group starting this Thursday. Wish me luck.) Stella
Cut out Ice-cream scoops from different colored construction paper. Cut out cones from light brown construction paper. Members get a cone to start. Each 1 pound weight loss gets a scoop of ice-cream..each scoop received is pasted on to previous scoop. Run the contest for 6 weeks or more. If only 1/4 or 1/2 or 3/4 of a pound is lost then they must wait until next week's weight loss to see if it adds up to a pound. One way to have your ice-cream with no calories. I hope you like this idea.
