Good morning everyone & a happy Monday to you all.
I had a wonderful weekend with the kids. The little boys have grown so much in the past few weeks but they still love their Grandma.

YEP! We are on the right path...and I agree with you, Nicole. Slow and steady wins the race! If we're working toward a goal and not giving up then we are successful! Even through the ups and downs...we are still successful! WOO HOO! I am just so glad I have SP with all the tools and all the friends to keep me accountable. It makes all the difference!

I like the slow and steady pace. Karen, 12 lbs since July is not bad! The 3 lbs I lost during our challenge is the only weight I have lost since July! LOL. I have done crash diets where I lost a bunch of weight really fast. Then I blinked and it was all back plus more. I am not saying that everyone who loses weight real fast is going to gain it all back, I am just enjoying every moment that I maintain what I have lost. And when I look at the big picture 37 lbs is a whole lot to lose! Yes, I know I have another 60 to lose and if it takes a whole year (or more) I am ok with that. I feel it will be easier for me personally to keep it off. I am building a new way of living. I still have a lot to change, and I am really enjoying the process.

Fluctuations are NORMAL, try not to get too down on yourself CC. And, although we pledge to ourselves not to be so scale driven, truth is, it DOES drive us...cause in the back of our minds we remember the HIGHER number and the unwillingness of the scale to move. We DO have to keep in mind how far we've come and that our bodies are MUCH healthier NOW than six or nine months ago. This is a WAY OF LIFE, now. We will be doing this and eating like this forever! I have only lost 12 pounds since JULY! If I let it get me down, I could think that this is not worth the effort...I mean I want to lose another 27, so in reality, I will be at this for another eight months or longer...as I am sure it will get even tougher once I get closer to my goal. But, SO WHAT?? I will get there...no matter how long it takes.
I read a magazine a few months back of women who had lost over 100 pounds. Of the six featured, for four of them it took them THREE years to lose their weight and for one it took FOUR! What spoke to me the most in that article, is that they PERSEVERED! They didn't give up! No matter how slow the pace went, they just kept looking forward! We live in a society today that is INSTANT everything...and when weight loss isn't instant, we decide it's not successful, or it's not as successful as we wanted. Wrong attitude. Please don't think I am chiding you, I am just trying to make sure you are thinking POSITIVELY and not letting the NEGATIVE sneak in...you are doing all the right things...just keep it up, and you will get there!

I've hit a weight loss plateau. Although I got down to 180.4 last week, for 2 weeks now, I've been fluctuating between 180.4 and around 184.0. Up one day, down the next, then back up.
I think it's going to be tough to break through this plateau. I'm at my lowest weight in 10 years other than when I was pregnant with my almost 8 year old daughter and was sick for months and couldn't keep any food down. At that time, I got down to about 160, but was sick as a dog and it wasn't a healthy time for me.
I've made a decision not to focus so much on the scale right now. I'm going to keep eating healthy and in my calorie range. I'm going to keep drinking water and continue working on cutting diet sodas out of my daily routine. I'm going to continue running 4 to 5 times a week and work on building up my distances and bettering my times. I'm going to continue my strength training.
I think I will eventually break through this 180 mark, but I can't let it become all consuming for me. I need to be healthy and pay attention to what my body is saying to me about whether I'm being healthy or not and not focus on what the scale is fluctuating around. So, that's where I'm at. I'm not stopping. I'm not giving up. But the number on the scale isn't going to be the main focus at this time.

Afternoon everyone,
Just thought I would pop in & let your know I have been finding my motivation a little bit at a time. There was some at the bottom of the dishes pile, some in the bottom of the laundry basket & some at the foot of my bed. I found that when I chased the dogs outdoors & stripped it to change the sheets.
so heree hoping that there will be more to be found as I go round the house.
cheers to all.

Lost the 2.4 pounds I gained last week plus another 1.0 pound. Down to 180.4. Total loss in 23 weeks is 43.5 pounds. Just missed my 2nd long-term goal weight of 180 by my 20+10th birthday on 10/4 by 0.4 pound. Bummer. Oh well, moving on to my next goal weight of 175.0 pounds by November 12th. Only 5.4 pounds to go.

It certainly is so frustrating how quickly the pounds show up but more so at the amazing difficulty to shed them.
I am VERY thankful for Sparks when I have those gains because without the support I get here, I think I would have given up months ago.

Isn't is CRAZY how FAST we can gain? If I take ONE day off, I ususally gain 2-3 pounds. Now, mathmatically, we shouldn't do that but, I guess are bodies are WAY more complex than we know or understand...so hang in there CC...it will come off. You're doing GREAT!

I gained this week. I wasn't surprised though since I took a scheduled 3 days off from tracking my calories for our anniversary. I am up to 183.8, so up 2.4 pounds since last week. My goal is still to be to 180 by my birthday, so I have one week to lose 3.8 pounds. I'm hopeful, but if I miss it by just a bit, I'm not going to be upset since I'm so close.

Thanks Karen and Crystal. Thats kinda what I am hoping for Crystal. But the reality is that I was really BAD this week. But still, for it to be a true 5 lb weight gain that is an excess of 17,500 for the week, and I have a hard time beleiving that is humanly possible. If tomarrow I am down I will know it was mostly water.
Thanks for the support!

Nicole, Since you are just finishing up TOM ...that could be what the gain is from...so don't worry about it..you may have just caught your fluctuations of your body on a bad day..I am sure you will see a change next week. Remember...consistency is the key...so you have that and know what to do...you will get back down where you were and then some!

Yes, hang in there...we all have fluctuations, especially as women...don't let it discourage you. I have been up and down, up and down my whole eight months on Spark...good thing it's more down than up! But the ups are hard to take, so just think about how far you've come already and keep going!

I am sorry you haven't been well sharyn, I hope your feeling better. Congrats on the extra lb lost though!
I am down a pound myself, next week will be better though because I have really boosted up my work out routine, and am sticking to my food plan. I love watching my ticker move to the right!

woo hoo..... the up side of being so ill this week is that not only have I lost those nasty party pounds but I have lost an extra pound.
Now I need to be VERY watchful that I don't let them creep back as I feel more up to eating.

my doctor ordered another cholesterol test for me for when I am well.
The last one came back as 5.6. Which scared the daylights out of me. But when I checked the other day, she said that was the total so was not too bad at all. Although it was mostly made up of the bad stuff.
So now I am very interested in what is now that I have lost weight & working to lower it.

today I am inclined to agree with you.... although any other time I would not. It is ONLY because I am not able to ecercise just yet that will slow the loss a bit.

Its not the mattress, its is a posturepedic and relatively new. It may be my pillow my cervical pillow is losing its shape but cant afford a new one right now about 60 dollars last time I checked
