August 24th updates:
I am pretending to be a SparkCheerleader this week and wanted to send a little note to all of you about our wonderful weight challenge. I might try to do this each week to spur us into action and maybe share some interesting facts. We shall see...
Cynthia, my love... that is just your brain getting heavier from all the reading of Dr. Fuhrman's book!! Not REAL weight gain! LOL
CoutureLady - You were probably wearing heavier toenail polish! That's my excuse for a 1# gain!! And believe me, there is ALWAYS an EXCUSE... now I have to focus on the REASON.
Kris darling. I know how you feel and it's probably not what you've been "putting in your mouth". You are at that maddening plateau area that I also get to, and am now at again, where you just hover above and below that "10-pound" line. Like 250 to 252 to 249 to 246 to 250 again. This is me every day almost... except I gain 10 pounds at the end of every month and have to start all over again. Watching my sodium, as my team suggested, has helped a bit. I am back down to having lost those 10 pounds again this month, but I am no further along in my quest. Still at 60 pounds lost, but I am NOT complaining!! So keep forging on and know that we all go through it. .
Karen. Honey. What to say? I am so proud that you have been as consistent as you are. I know you are getting out and doing more, but remember that you are rebuilding muscles. You are maintaining! Maintaining is a MAJOR accomplishment. Something that we will all have to LEARN to do at some point. You have it all down pat already! Maybe you should give us all classes when we catch up!
And poor Joanna must have gotten so skinny she weighs nothing again! LOL I think she is back on vacation, so I will have to check in on her.
Me? I almost wish I was sick again like in June when I just slept all day and lost 7 pounds in a week! LOL! But I can't do that because that is my slippery, SLIPPERY slope. I am part BEAR, evidently, and can sleep for 3 years straight. I promise you I did that very thing and I am surprised I am not dead from it. But I almost was... and I gained 60 pounds doing just that... sleeping and living on 500 calories or candy and Diet Coke ever day. And I fight crawling back into bed every day and have to remember that I need to stay ABOVE the covers!!!
The end of the month is here next Saturday! One week left to EVICT THE FAT. So tighten up those fat-burning belts and do any kind of movement possible to keep up the great work. You gals do really make this fun for me, you know. And I wish I could use some of my own art and stuff in our STATS posting because I would really make it pretty. But the facts are the facts, and being a retired statistician, I can assure you that numbers ain't always pretty! Last month we all maintained throughout the month or lost a little. Let's wrap August up with it's heat and put it on a slow burn for September so we can whittle ourselves away as the temps start to cool for some of you. I will still be sweating down here closer to Hades...AKA Jacksonville. There is an actual town called Hell is in the Grand Caymans. Seriously... my BFF sent me a postcard from there. Was terribly hilarious to receive a postcard that actually reads "Greetings from Hell". Crazy, huh?
Anyway, just my little puff piece to see if I can encourage anyone to make the mad dash this week and break a record. :-) If this helps to motivate you guys, then I have done my job.
NUTRITION TIP: One thing I did noticed that helped me this month was to review the extended daily report that shows your entire nutrient list for each and every food you ate that day. I did this to find out where the sodium overload was coming from, and I cut that food down. It was being over-represented because I don't eat a quarter cup of hot banana peppers in my salads, but I was adding a bit more than I should have. I had no idea it was that high in sodium! And I may have to bite my tongue, but I only have one week for my repetitive "10-pound revenge" gain to happen. If I can keep it off this week, I can start FRESH in September and not have to lose the same 10 over and over (ever seen that movie, Groundhog Day? My weight has been groundhog day for the past 4 months. Not any more... knocking on wood now!)
Hugs to you all! Angela
