I did a walking challenge when I first started walking and it definitely helped keep me motivated so I hope it works well for you too!

How is everyone doing? I am back on the gym "grind". Feels good!

I have been pretty much a couch potato so this seemed like a good way to start and with the weather seems like a great option. Now if I could just get myself up early in the morning, before work, to do walk would be great! LOL emoticon

Leslie Sansone dvd's were my only way of exercising besides walking Abe when I was initially losing my weight. Great dvds for those cold months!

I often only get to town once a week so I think my lifestyle is about being cooped up but I'm satisfied if I can get outside.

Alrighty I am officially going NUTS! We have been stuck since Saturday night with this storm. It looks like we will finally be able to get out tomorrow when it warms up about 10 degrees and the rain. I miss the gym bad. Weight is just stuck but least it's not increasing!

I have to count carbs and calories too in order to lose weight but it's nice that it isn't required on South Beach for those who hate to track them and have a great metabolism plus enough discipline to not need to. That would not be me. LOL.

I am getting my exercise in. Didn't eat well yesterday as I was out of town but I didn't gain.

Counting carbs and calories both are SO easy in sparkpeople. I am thankful every day when I can look something up and find accurate carb and fiber counts!!!

I have also found that even if it puts me over 20 carbs during phase 1, I have to allow myself certain things because if I don't, I want them twice as bad. So if I total out at 30 that day and still had what I wanted, at least I'm not at the 250 carbs the USDA recommends.

Thanks for the motivation!!! I am recently divorced (December) and I was supossed to have my daughter visit me today (7yr old) ...but she's sick and staying home. So I have nothing really planned today. I have been feeling sad all morning, but now I'm thinking that I have time to hit the gym and start my workouts a couple days early! Yeah, it sucks that I won't see her and I miss her, but I am not gonna make things worse by moping around my apartment. I want to change some habits, and getting up and going to the gym is one of them. So I'm making lemonade out of lemons today.....Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

OK Team......I'm starting my program a few weeks late, but I had to get the temptations out of my house! Starting Monday, I will begin Phase 1. My BF is also starting to eat better...but not following an exact SB Diet. I will, however, have him to challenge and support me and be my exercise buddy. I have roughly 20 pounds to lose....I will weigh in for an exact weight on Monday morning at the gym. I know that if I stay motivated, I can lose this weight and look awesome by Summer....2 years ago I lost 40 pounds....so I know how easy the food plans are once you get into a routine. I look forward to meeting you guys! I will post here often to keep my eye on the prize!

I'm snowed in here and never got out to the store to get some Fiber One cereal, so I decided to move on to phase 1.5 today by having 1/2 C. of oatmeal for breakfast.

It's hard to believe it's Friday already, and another weekend of temptations to resist. I'll most likely have a glass of wine tonight with my salmon burger dinner.

Hope you all have a terrific weekend!

I think we can all relate I have gone into some place and intended to order a salad and then heard me say, "I'll have a Baconater!" Who said that??? LOL. It's weird how this stuff happens. Proof that the devil really does exist and he eats whatever he wants to. LOL.

Wendy's Chili is my go to fast food choice. Along with a side salad it's satisfying & filling. Just difficult to drive while eating, which should be outlawed anyway. lol. I pretty much stopped looking at the big lit up menu board anymore...it's too tempting.

No point feeling guilty over what's done is done.

I had the biggest fall-out yesterday and I feel super guilty. Work emergency send me on an unexpected road trip for a whole day. Stressed-out, tired and hungry I pulled into a fast food place and had burger and fries. I thought about a salad and even a grilled chicken sandwich, but NO I ordered a burger emoticon As soon as I ate it, I felt awful and then the food coma hit and I needed Starbucks to revive myself- thankfully that ended up with just drip coffee and NF milk, rather than some sugar-loaded-mocha crap.

The scale this morning still showed progress but I just hate it that I cannot control some of my meal choices. This is supposed to be a lifestyle change and it's dandy when I have everything planned, but when life goes haywire, I slip. But, like the saying goes "brush yourself off and keep going", I guess that applies to me. Thanks for letting me vent ladies

Hi everyone.

Today I was reading an article about eliminating the risk factors associated with heart disease. Lol, it took me time to figure out but these days a healthy eating plan and exercise is more appealing than pills, excess food and disease.

I'm pleased that an early morning walk is behind me.

I usually do okay with Fiber One cereal, not the flakes but the one that looks like guinea pig poop. lol. I didn't have any in the house on purpose because I was planning on holding out until after the two weeks of P1 to introduce it back in first. I usually need it by then to keep regular. Berries alone cause me hunger also, and I had already had my yogurt and flax for breakfast. I guess I could have tried a glass of milk at lunch too, but Tuna and milk is a disgusting combo.

What I think I really should have done was to have the lentil soup like I was originally planning to have, but then I thought maybe the extra protein in the tuna would do the trick. Anyway today's a new day, and I'm just having my coffee now so I need a new plan of attack to get me back on track again. Hubby will be out of town from this afternoon until the end of the month, so that alone will help me big time for more reasons than I can begin to list on here. lol! I'll just say that the word "stressed" spelled backwards is "desserts".

In the meantime, my plan is to continue on with P1 for one more week and include more beans & milk. First things first, today I gotta go work off yesterday's nibble fest & then make me a big pot of turkey chili.

Have a great day all!

I probably would have been better off having a 1/2 C. of oatmeal this morning for breakfast when I was feeling so sluggish, rather than the handful of triscuit crackers that I wound up having with my tuna at lunch. All that did was send me on a nibble fest for the rest of the day, and now my headache has returned & I'm feeling bloated again. I'm hoping at least that I'll have some more energy to burn off on the elliptical tomorrow.

Oh well, I'll just chalk it up to another day of living & learning on the SB lifestyle. "Progress not Perfection"

Hope you all are doing better with your energy levels than I am. Have a good night, and I'll check back with you all in the morning.

Maybe you should try changing the type of carbs you add back if what you are adding back stalls you and causes weight gain. Instead of oatmeal try adding some berries or cantaloupe. Oats stall me and some studies done on them recently showed that they caused young men to actually eat more throughout the day. Are you getting adequate protein in? If I'm feeling sluggish I increase my protein level. The extra beans should definitely help with that.

On Day 7 of Phase 1: I'm considering moving on to Phase 1.5 tomorrow with some oatmeal. I'd like to get to 155 first though, because usually my weight lose stalls as soon as I add any carbs back. But I'm feeling really low on energy this week, and I need to get back to exercising daily again if I want to keep losing at all from here on out. Maybe I'll just increase the amount of beans I eat today, and then decide how I feel tomorrow.

Ok, count me in. I just started today. We'll see. I might try to do phase 1 but last time I only lasted a week - and it was a week of misery. Going to start on Phase 2 and see how I do. It's better than doing nothing, right? We're TTC and my doctor says I need to get my carbs down big time.

I signed up for her to e-mail me a new Phase 1 recipe daily.

Here's a link to her archive since Dec. 31st.

P.S. We're in good company if even Kalyn regained weight last year and is doing phase 1 too.

Kaylyn's kitchen is doing 30 days of Phase 1 recipes now. She has lots of phase 1 recipes on her site. I don't always follow them, but use them for an idea with what I have to work with. Yesterday, she posted a recipe for tuna lettuce wraps. I made chicken breast lettuce wraps. The recipe was good.

Hey Kierae, loved your post re perfection. The learning process that you described really is leading me to healthy lifestyle changes.

This morning I took an early morning walk with DH, my walking buddy. Walking is now part of our routine. I started this challenge by walking around the house 5 minutes at a time. We're up to 2 miles a day and so proud of ourselves.

My weight was stable this morning so I'm happy. I can already tell I have lost weight.

Hi everyone I have been a member for years but haven't done my SB in years. I'm starting over. Today is day1 phase1. A new me is what I want! I exercised this morning and eating a wonderful breakfast. No turning back one. I MUST do this!

Day 6 of P1: I stayed on track through the weekend for a change and didn't gain any weight. That's progress! The biggest tempatation I had was yesterday, with my grandson's microwave popcorn which caused my whole house to be filled with a carb craving, stomach gurgling delicious smell. I went so far as to spray room deodorizer to clear it away, to keep me from diving face first into the bowl. I just remembered that there is still a stale half bag of it sitting on my counter next to my coffee maker. The first thing I have to do after getting offline, is go downstairs and throw it out!
emoticon emoticon

After I have some coffee, I will be doing 30 min. of yoga & 30 min. on the elliptical, before
showering and going out to Costco to stock up on some SB friendly food for the week.

My new year's resolution is to use a lot more recipes out of my SB cookbook, in addition to the ones posted here & at Kalyn's kitchen to keep me from falling into my usual boring food rut.

Hope you all have a great Monday on the beach no matter what phase you're on, or what comes your way.

First week back, not doing a strict P1, more like 1.5 but lost 3.4 pounds - small victories! Eating cleaner than before and got back to my veggies which I find are the key for me in keeping me full and helping me stay away from the "bad" carbs - although I did have a glass of wine with dinner Sat night, I know you can appreciate that Kierae! and a taste of creme brulee but it had lots of beautiful fresh berries with it and 4 people shared so not a bad night at all.

MMKKK people - take note (ie the folks who haven't heard this rant and just have started): this isnt about perfection. Phase 1 is a learning process so do not start over and over and over. Seriously talk about self defeating...We all have hiccups. Nobody is perfect. You keep moving forward which equals a lifestyle change. We acknowledge where our hiccup happened and move forward. Take note and learn! So you may call your day phase 1...phase 1.5...phase 2...again - just keep moving forward. The beauty of committing to ANY plan is that there is flexability. You do it, you occasionally "cheat", you move forward, move sideways, move backwards...but ultimately you keep moving FORWARD. We all have our slack moments (lord knows I do! emoticon ).

My back and forth movement: I have been doing great food and exercise wise but had a "craving" and guess what - the peppermint bark I made that's in the freezer surfaced. Fortunately the mister has a HUGE sweet tooth (whereas I am more prompted by carb cravings vs sugar but hey anything works in a pinch)...

Hope ya all survived the weekend! emoticon

I had to start over AGAIN! Today it's D3. I'm having a really hard time staying on track this go around! But so far all is well.

My problem is I work around food all day. I'm a waitress & temptation is EVERYWHERE I turn. I do my cardio & ST every mrng but we all know you can't 'out exercise' a bad diet emoticon .

Week 1 is almost over, down 3 lbs. I've had to modify Phase 1 for me in the last few days because I had little or no energy for exercise. I added a slice of ww bread or banana with protein before my workouts, which seemed to help. I'm not sure if that qualifies as Phase 1.5 or what. I'm getting pretty sick of eggs for breakfast...I tried them numerous different ways, but only 1 more week to go and then I can have oatmeal again emoticon Good job everyone, keep on pushing along.

Hi everyone, stopping by to check in.

I went out to dinner last night and enjoyed evening with DH. I planned ahead and made lower calorie choices during the day so I could splurge a bit at dinner. This morning I didn't give myself a choice about walking, I just did it.

emoticon V, Berta & Tish!

Day 5 of Phase 1: One more day of the weekend left until my next weigh in tomorrow morning. I'm trying to limit my jumping on the scale to just Mon-Wed-Sat. My next mini goal is to reach 155 this week.

Best wishes to all!
