I am doing a day of 1.5 myself today (ie one serving of fruit and no grains) since I had pizza yesterday with the teenager (my first in over a year). Of course the leftovers were calling to me so I froze them in serving size packages so I can occasionally indulge..hehe.

We have never owned either - just rental. Man with the state of the economy right now, it seems like a better choice. Much easier to downsize or pick up and move if needed. I have 40 acres that we had talked about building on but at this point I kinda would rather sell it at some point and buy a nice farm type place locally here since I kinda enjoy it.

And hows the phase 1 going ladies??

Owning a house is a big responsibility. Ours keeps us very busy.

Nope, when we sold our house, we were going to look for a smaller one, but never have. When I hear about one coming onto the market, I tell dh and he's not interested at all. Doesn't want the maintainence, but we do yard work here. It's different than putting on 300 gallons of paint, which we've done some years between the rink and house.

Last time I talked to him about looking for a house, he said we'd move into an apartment or condo when we couldn't live in the motor home any longer. It's working for now.

We don't have any of that since we sold our house. We're on 30 amp, so even if we did have it, wouldn't have the electricity to run them. Going to some day when sil builds a shop and adds us onto that board.

We have a spare freezer and a spare dorm fridge but it still is a pain if something goes wrong with the big fridge.

We're home. Our fridge was out when we got home. The RV place won't have one in until Thursday, so won't get replaced until Friday. Glad we have a big ice chest. I threw everything in the fridge and freezer away.

SB is going ok.

Morticia, good for you for getting lots of exercise in! I'm doing pretty good on my food selections for P1. The exercise....I can't get in quite yet due to asthma, trying to get that under control before I add in exercise again. My lungs apparently hate cold air, lol.

I see a lot of members who are doing great and continue to pass on the goodies and lose weight. They are pretty amazing and inspiring. I'm hoping it will rub off on me. I got lots of exercise in yesterday.

Losing would be nice, but pretty unrealistic. Yup, exercise, good choices, and portion control will work, if I follow it.

That's what I'm shooting for. I have to get my exercise in - no choice and use portion control and make wise choices.

Losing weight during the holiday season can be difficult for most folks. I think if you go into them with the intention of making the beachiest choices 95% of the time and exercising (since we all tend to hermitize during this cold season too) and shooting for at least maintaining - then we are at least putting in the effort of a lifestyle. Beats diving face first into the plate of desserts. emoticon

I need to get a grip too but this is my bad time of year and to be honest I will probably not do well until after the new year. Too much going on. Too many temptations.

I caved and got the $20/week internet connection here in N ID. What a difference.

I've fallen off the diet wagon and can't get up. Someone kick my butt and get me going again. I need a strong lecture.

We went to a buffet yesterday, ate ok, but could have done better. I have to eat much better than I have been this week in order to lose weight.

I'm pretty obnoxious where my diet is concerned. We used to have work lunches that were horrible and i was lucky if there was anything I could eat. I am quite verbal and it got back to my boss. LOL. He said, " I hear you were not pleased with our lunch selections." I told him my hypoglycemia and G.I. track were less pleased than I was. LOL. I'm lucky I was a valued employee because he asked me how he could make it better for me. And I suggested, "Less junky carbs, more protein." And he did it. Sometimes these are opportunities to teach others that not everyone can eat a muffin and survive. They are coma inducing for me. So don't hesitate to tell people who provide food that there are diabetics there who need a breakfast or snack as well. They don't need a sugar bolus.

LOL I can understand the Texas typical food choices. (since I go down for BBQ/Rodeo every year). Being vegeterain definitely would be challenging! THere are folks on the phase 1 support thread and/or you can continue to post on this thread too!

So the travel was sort of ridiculous b/c I was either in airports, stopping at ridiculous places like Chili's to eat, or at this meeting where someone had ordered the most unhealthy food imaginable. I should have packed more almonds and a few protein bars b/c as it turned out breakfast was the only meal where I really couldn't swing anything (they delivered muffins, and the meeting started at 7 am, so nothing was open before that for me to get stuff from). So. bleh, I ate a few mini-muffins. The rest of the trip I managed to order great stuff by asking for extra vegetables, beans on the side, etc. Did I mention I'm vegetarian? Did I mention I was traveling in Texas? I'm glad I survived (though i do think one of the "muffins" i ate yesterday contained sausage....ack!)!!

Anyway, yes, Kierae, you are right -- it's all about seeing things in a new ways. I actually did Phase 1 almost 2 years ago, and it went well -- got off sugar, lost some weight, and maintained for a while. . . but i need to jumpstart now, and part of that is not seeing all the birthdays and holidays as opportunities to "cheat"! (That's part of why i thought it would be nice to re-boot now, during holiday season....).

Anyway.....

I don't actually need my own thread here if there's no-one particularly joining me for these weeks. I'll just post in the phase 1 thread. Thanks for listening!

There is a sticky thread for those that want it. Regarding "cheating" - that really is your choice on the birthday cake. On the meeting, I would look at what is offered thru "beachy" eyes. IE is there eggs, protein options, tomato or v8 juice? If the options are limited (ie none are offered) then go for any whole wheat toast/bagels w/cream cheese, fruit (berries first since lower gi) - basically looking to see what phase 2 options are there. Yogurt is another option although normally they provide fruit flavored but again this is a better choice than say a muffin which is sugar filled. Also consider bringing in your own. My go to breakfast when on the run was a can of v8, boiled eggs and my nuts. Solid and definitely a breakfast.

You will be dealing with food choices and obstacles ongoing thru your life - its time to start looking at it with new eyes. emoticon

Hi everyone! For some reason, I was not receiving the notifications about this thread. . . but I'm here and I started phase 1 yesterday!

We don't have to sticky this thread -- I just want a litle accountability group. Is that ok? :)

You can see my tracker if you want!

Here's what I'm trying to figure out, so that I can be successful:
- My twins are turning 6 on Thursday, and I think I should just "plan to cheat" and have a piece of cake, or it will be miserable! Does anyone think that's a terrible idea? It's easier for me to have a tiny piece of cake than nothing at all.
- I'm traveling today and tomorrow. I packed my lunch today, but tonight i'm at a hotel, and i have a meeting starting at 7 tomorrow. I don't know what to do about breakfast....I think i might just have to cheat and eat whatever crap is there at the meeting b/c i'm supposed to be presenting from 8 to 11, and i'll pass out without some food. Bleh -- i don't want to cheat, but i don't know that i have a choice. If i find a place to buy some phase-1-friendly breakfast, i'll do that...but i don't know :(

I think it's better for us to do it all together. I do 1.5 most of the time.

No please - just use the stickied thread for the phase 1. I am hesitant to make a phase 1.5 thread when let's face it, for most folks phase 1.5 is their phase 2 but I could make another sticky under this forum just for that. Let me know!

We will gladly "sticky" you a thread under this section just for your phase 1 if you like! That way anybody can jump into it - that work for you?

I'm not in need of a phase one but I will cheer you on.

I want to do phase 1 for 2 weeks, starting this week some time -- my preference would be to start on Wednesday b/c I'm traveling Monday-Tuesday, and it might be tricky to start on those two days. Anyone interested in starting with me and continuing for two weeks, plus maybe an additional "phase 1.5" week?

It would help me a lot to have a few people for daily check-ins!

Let me know if you are interested!
