I've seen easy ones using canned navy beans drained and some reduced sugar ketchup or sugar free BBQ sauce, cooked onion, turkey bacon, splenda or brown sugar twin, mustard, and pepper.

I feel your pain. lol I had a few granny smiths myself over the weekend pre phase 1. That an my last wine for two weeks...which is even harder for me to give up than the fruit & bread.

So far no sugar withdrawal headache.

Welcomeback to the two of ya!!!! i love apple season by far my favorite. I did pretty good today and got a good walk in with my man and my two little boys. Planning on some eggs and sausage tomorrow, lunch turkey and cheese, no bread, a side caesar salad, nuts for a snack, as far as dinner who knows. I am taking my kids to the zoo tomorrow so I have to be extra prepared for cravings.

So, after a great day hanging out with a good friend, and then a family reunion, I amg going to get back on track tomorrow morning starring with either an egg- veggie scramble or some SB pancakes. Then I will find some great recepies for lunch and supper, buying a few ingredients if needed.

After 5 months of attempting to Burn the Fat & Feed the Muscle with way too many carbs, I've decided to bring my bloated gut & fat butt back here to the South Beach Plan. I'll be starting Day 1 of Phase 1 tomorrow morning.

Well thank you ladies! I was eating so bad today and I was like hey is this where we are headed again? Yes these past few days the pms hit me hard but I was like thats no way to live. I actually felt miserable the past few days when i ate junk food and I didnt walk yesturday or today. It made me realize how I feel when I eat bad and dont workout. I was thinking wow my body wants me to do this, to get healthy and im like no body you need to eat that crunch and munch, and then this fall we will watch the people on biggest loser get skinny while i get fatter lol. You both are right I have to want this. Sorry this is so long

Good job, Hotmama. This certainly is not the time to quit when you are finally getting somewhere. Dieting is hard and it takes some of us longer to wrap our heads around it than others. You have to want it and you have to want it bad enough to make some sacrifices. Sometimes we get off track but it you can't get back on then you will never be one of the fortunate people who lose weight and keep it off. I've made up my mind that I will be one of them and you can too.

Alright Kierae, At first I read you message and ran away like a dog with my tail between my legs. Then I was like you know what I am gonna find a new diet, something thats easier and quicker. Folks, that would be a diet junkie needing to yoyo on a diet.

so I thought about it all day today and I was like omg I am such a liar I had enough energy to train and I actually felt really great while eating on south beach. But I wanted to be lazy and eat combos, chips, sweets, and just down right be a fatty. I have luckly maintained my eleven pound loss from last week. I deserve to be skinny and happy and wear cute pants and I deserve to have my boyfriend check me out in jeans and not in sweat pants everyday.

So Kierae thank you for being honest with me and placing your foot print on the back of my pants just one more time!

Hmmm here is my real world spiel: we aren't that low carb...you could have adjusted your eating plan to a phase 1.5 (still can) versus doing your normal routine of bailing out of another plan which in your own words-you don't get past any plan past the first week which is ironically where we are at today. We all know doing low(er) carb or any plan for a few months versus figuring out what you can do year round is a recipe for yo yo weight gain. I invite you to consider just moving yourself into phase 1.5/2 and work on moving forward. There should be no issues with training with a serving of whole grains and a serving of fruit.

Just my two cents- you are welcome to stay with the team regardless for support. emoticon

Well low carbers I think I am finally hanging up the low carbing. I have no energy to train for my marathons and the constant leg cramps make it hard to train. Even after taking potassium supplements it didnt ease up for me. But it may be helpful for me too eat low carb from december to march, I dont have any big races during that time frame just 5ks. Thank you everyone for the constant support.

I was just eying some spot shrimp at the market...man I miss paying cheap prices (ie Alaska living days).

Down 3 pounds and gingerly back on the treadmill. Probably (read I AM) going to detour off p1 plan today. I picked up some green tomatoes and I have fresh figs. Promised the mister tempura green tomatoes and figs w/goat cheese wrapped in proscuitto today since its his day off. Both very seasonal indulgences. Not horrible for ya since fresh figs are fairly low glycemic but I don't make whole wheat tempura anymore - tried but meh. Besides I tend to not like any heavy breading and end up picking off most the tempura anyways.

Tomorrow i am going to do South Beach Diet Phase 1 Menu for Vegetarians (No Egg Version) My stomach can not handle eggs and no dairy for me. Today i eat eggs and my stomach is not happy at all. I thought if i can make eggs with vegetables i may handle it but no way. I am going to have very hard time tonight. I am bloated and so much pain. So tomorrow only vegetarian menu. Whatever i cook with eggs today, THAT i am going to feed my hubby. emoticon
I feel like eat a lot but all the healthy food. I am within my calorie range. emoticon

Glad you liked the biscuits! The agave is technically offplan but a viable choice for folks who don't use artficial sugars. If used sparingly, she should be fine,

Hello Everyone, i am happy to say that i start phase 1 today. I cook and cook lots of veggies. If i get hungery i can only eat what i need to eat. I have one question Can my daugther sub. Agva necture or not??

Great job!I know exactly what you mean,I put something bad in my mouth and in the past it would be Oh well ate that might as well keep eating and bang,4 hour long binge fest!!No more !Have been feeling great the last week SB all the way!!Not much of a breakfast eater,but got up today and made a big veggie eggbeater omlet and a spicy sausage to split with DH!Yummy!Figure Sunday morning treat day!!Have the rest of my food all planned and packed for work!Sunday is most peoples end to the weekend,but my off nights are Monday and Tuesday so at midnight tonight my weekend begins!Have a great OP day Diane

I have a confession I had a few cheese puffs but then I was like no stop!!!! I still lost a pound today and I made my low carb breakfast. I also have my south beach meals planned for the rest of the day. I also have my workouts planned. But the main thing is that I dont feel all worried and bad like I normally would, because that will lead to my just quit state of mind. I actually went into my closet today to get a skinny shirt out of there instead of one of my boyfriends tshirts on the dresser. Thats a big deal for me! : ) 9 Pounds and down!

I am on day 3 also I think!O.K. 1 large cauliflower,egg beaters, low fat shredded cheese(whatever you like)I grate uncooked cauliflower in my food processor,then measure from 1 bowl to another how many cups you have.Add 1/4 cup egg beaters,1/4 cheese per 1 cup cauliflower(so if you have 4 cups cauliflower add 1 cup egg and 1 cup cheese.I use parchment paper sprayed with pam on a cookie sheet,but I'm sure you can just spray cookie sheet.I measure 1 cup of mixture is 1 crust spread in a circle with fingers press thin.Bake 425 for about 30 minutes or until starting to brown, flip over bake another 10-15 minutes until crust is firm enough to pick up without bending.Add whatever toppings you want!And broil to heat toppings!I freeze the remaining crusts in round container and grab 1 add toppings to frozen crust,pop in toaster oven and 15 minutes later YUMMY lunch or dinner!You'll never know it's not dough!!I hope you enjoy ! Way to go passing up all those triggers!!My DH used to do that also but rarely does it now.I for one am glad your here often,I like the conversation!!And the ideas!!If you love pizza like I do there is a cauliflower pizza crust I eat at least 3 times a week topped with LOT'S of veggies it is yummy.I get a BIG head of cauliflower and make 6-8 and freeze them for quick use.Hope you have a great OP afternoon. Exactly, So I had eggs, turkey sausage, and a little cheese for breakfast, then I went for a walk and my legs were so tired and crampy. I have heard you can get leg cramps while doing low carb. I also have been walking alot this week so maybe thats it. Potassium helps with the cramps right???? Sorry If I am posting on here too much, I just really think it helps to post on here. You all are so motivating

Way to go! Your boyfriend sounds like he is trying to sabotage your efforts. Sometimes you see this and with your prior history of multiple diet plans/attempts, he is figuring this is no difference. Stick to your guns and remind him that this isn't a crazy no carb/high protein diet but a well rounded lifestyle way of eating that is physician recommended. And keep. Avoiding the triggers!

Thank you for the great advice, I also got like all the south beach cook books from the library. Literally like 5 of them, : )
So heres the kicker though, my boyfriend was trying to pressure feed me. Hes making enchiladas tonight which is my weakness, so he was like why cant you just eat them? I was like I can have hamburger and beans, but Im not eating the sauce thats made with flour. Hes like high protein diets make you gain weight. Hes like you may be losing a little but its probably working against you.
bahahaa not this time buddy Im on my 3rd day already and Im down 8 pounds, Now given I have never made it passed day 5. But it feels different this time. And I noticed a bunch of triggers last night, that would normally make me binge. I passed it all up last night. we had steak, potatoes, and corn. He was like why arent you eating my cooking? I ate the steak and then made a salad. whew oh and I passed up cookies last night and I made french toast for the kids today. It didnt even bother me, lol sorry so long! Happy sparking

Regarding carbs - yes beans would be good. The body will pull energy from carbs or from protein so if you were to choose more complex carbs along with protein, you shouldnt have any issues.

I am so excited I made thru the first day and I lost 6 pounds! I also had energy all day yesturday. I said I wasnt gonna weigh myself but who cares Im doing it, it motivates me. So my goal is too lose 20 pounds from today. With all the walking I am doing for my race I am pretty sure I can meet that goal.

On the subject of the carbs I should eat the week of the race, how about beans? I eat them in phase one bc the supercharged book allows it and theyre amazing. If I choose to eat them alot that week I feel sorry for the walkewrs behind me lol yeah I went there

I am all aboard! I am doing good with my workout. I need to understand my eating habit and stay on track with it. I am new to all of this but i am willing to learn eating south beach way. I got down my gluten free way of eating habit and need to learn which good carbs to eat and not. My problume is i am scared to eat and that put me off. back of my mind is that my stomach is going to start hurting if i eat some thing new. I need to get over it.

My goal is to stick to south beach phase 1 the whole 4 weeks, except september 1,2, and 3. I have half marathon on the third and will need a few carbs the 2 days prior. Not pure fat sugar crap, just healthy whole grains and banannas. Thank you so much for the challenge! My goal is to check in everyday.

Alright folks - some people need a challenge and others would like one. It has been awhile and we definitely have alot of new folks who have just started. So consider this it. I don't care when you have started or what phase you are in. This challenge is to get each one of us on track and provide support. It takes 4 weeks to make a habit so let's each of us do just that - make your South Beach eating a habit. If you don't have weight to lose, then figure out what you would like to work on.

I encourage you to use the "Tools" forum if you like. Make your own personal thread. Declare what you want to do. Post your foods there if you like. Let's support each other in this endeavor.

I plan on joining in and I will do the two weeks of phase 1 along with those of you who are just starting (or doing a tune up). I shall be pitting the rest of my cherries to eat when I hit phase 2...lol.
