I have to have my fruit or I am miserable.

1/4 of an apple!? That's just a taste! Not a portion of fruit.

For half of apple you can wipe a little lemon juice from one of those plastic 'real lemons' on it. Then wrap in plastic. But, to quarter an apple. Well, personally I'd skip the fruit.

Which by the way I wouldn't do.

I was on a diet that allowed me 1/4 of an apple. What do you do with the rest of the apple? They don't save well. LOL.

I know what you mean. I was shocked to learn that some of the apples I considered one serving were actually considered 2.

Dang! That means that the one apple a day actually is filling my 2 servings of fruit I am supposed to eat each day. Again, dang!

Well, I learned to buy smaller apples.

Actually, I was quite shocked to learn what a serving size actually was on a lot of my fruits. About 1/4 what I was calling a serving.

Calories do count and I have found that in my case I can out eat any diet if I don't measure my food. I weigh my food because otherwise I lie to myself and my "small" apple is the size of a basketball. emoticon

A woman would not gain 3 pounds of muscle in two weeks no matter what she did. So, it is important to look for what else may have caused it. Like the increased water from newly exercised muscles (as mentioned), or sodium (as mentioned), or too few calories lowering the metabolism (as mentioned). Another big reason is that people way underestimate their calorie intake, or their portions. Even if measuring your food you may count it as X number of calories when it really has far more. So, a person has to really read labels and be sure they really know how much an appropriate portion is. And, if a portion is one-half cup that wouldn't mean a rounded or heaping half cup (something I often try to do...).

Another factor is are you eating enough to fuel the metabolism and your workouts? Eating consistently under will flatline the metabolism so you may want to calorie cycle...ie eating the range with lower calorie range done on rest days.

I would love to hear any responses as I am having the same issue. I hadn't worked out for a while and have just gotten back to doing it and I've gain like 3 pounds in 2 weeks. Wondering if it's muscle gain. I am seeing a little bit of a loss in inches but not enough to make me feel good! emoticon

Sometimes you will retain a little water in the muscles if you are strength training but looking at your tracker, a slight gain is probably more due to food choices (ie sodium due to processed/packaged foods) and your sweet tooth. Saw a couple nonbeachy sweets and you should be limiting your daily beach allowed sweets to 100 calories. Watch your cheese and keep the 4 1/2 cups of veggies going - should see the scale shift.

I wasn't very good at exercising when I started, so I just calculated my calories based on burning a few. Well, I started hitting the gym a lot last week and this week to get back on track and I'm eating near the minimum according to the recalculated SP tracker, and I have a slight gain this week. I'm hoping it's normal but if not, I'll go back to P1 for a bit. I did have a dessert on Sunday that I splurged on, it was a special occasion.

Got married on 09/10/11!
