Glad you can join us. I remember you from Kathryn's thread. We are missing her here also, but we keep hoping she'll come back to visit us soon. So you don't worry, I did see her smiling face pop up earlier this week on the IOWL team, and her current status mentions she went to Disney this week. Lucky lady that she is!

Anyways, Best wishes on the start of a new school year. I have lousy punctuation, so please don't scold me. lol! I'm currently a stay at home Nana with 4 going on 5 grandkids in western PA. I'm originally from LI NY.

Most likely this thread will be winding down around Labor Day, but we can always start a new one to take us through the fall and winter months. It has just been Elizabeth and I chatting to each other for awhile now. Losing weight, and more importantly maintaining it, does seem to be a never ending journey for most of us.

slimnana and eserge...thank you for the invite to join you on this thread! I really appreciate it. I have missed the daily interaction and support I was getting elsewhere.

I will take some time and read through your thread to get an idea of your journey but I bet it is similar to my story. All I know is that I feel better when I am eating on SBD. I have also added what I have learned from reading Eat for Your Blood Type. It is very interesting since the foods that I gain weight from (according to this book) as a Type B are the foods that I live on and love to eat. I have added it into my SBD- phase 2 meals.

Where are you both from? I am in Connecticut and am a teacher getting ready to go back to school on Monday- stress eating!!! I have to be really organized with my food or it will be a disaster.

Enjoy the day- this morning feels like fall here... Lori

I think it is a great idea. We always had breakfast for dinner on Thursday nights. I think it was partially because breakfast food is often easier to cook and then my brother got to choose on Thursdays, I got the choice on Saturday mornings and my dad would choose for Sunday brunch so there were fewer arguments.

But I never thought about wearing the PJ’s too! It is really cute! Did it work in getting to bed early/on time? She sure made a huge amount of sugary foods – I wonder if that would keep the 5 y/o awake?? Again, I am so excited for you!!

This is the second week in a row at work that there is a cake here! I went out with my coworkers last night for dinner and did have a glass of wine and dessert! I was very happy that I started with a salad and then didn’t have any of the pasta that came with my fish and even took some home with me (small victories.) So it was easier to tell myself no about the cake tonight.

I don’t know when I am going to switch back to having my half a cup of rice/carb again with my dinner meal. I just realized this morning that I maybe overeating with breakfast because the lentil soup that I eat with my hard boiled egg is 300 calories per packet. So I am going to try only eating half because that is one serving per the packet directions.

My new goal is Halloween to be back in my size 8 jeans. To be back running and feeling good. Josh has a second interview this week but it is not even a good job which makes it even a harder decision because he signed up to take a certification exam in December which is extremely difficult. So he has to decide take a bad job (almost demeaning it is so low) or continue to study and continue to look for what we call a stepping stone job – right position or right company. It has been just 4 months and I can’t tell you how stressful it is for both of us. It is so hard to see him so unhappy. I used to stay we were living in limbo while he went back to school but this is worse than limbo because there is so little hope for the future.

I am so glad that I am nowhere near menopause! Not that I like TTOM due to the bloating and severe headaches that I get but all the uncertainty that you are going through and the new symptoms that will be starting might be even worse. I guess we just need to be thankful for our health!
I saw a new commercial this week for the drug Reclast for osteoporosis. They start the commercial by saying this is “nana” and then she looks slim and great – you can’t believe she is a nana! I was picturing you during the commercial – you’ll have to watch for it.

Is this you in your new picture? If so where is it at??!!

Elizabeth :)

It was amazing that I wasn't even tempted to eat them at all either. I was only planning on eating them out of a sense of being polite and obligation (I know it's a limiting belief that I have yet to rid myself of) I didn't want to bring my own food out of fear of offending my DIL, but I was so relieved that she made some scrambled eggs & bacon to go along with the pancakes, donuts, crumb cake, Irish soda bread and sliced pineapple. So I strategically sat at the opposite end of the table from her and had a one year old on my lap through dinner, so nobody noticed or even cared what I was eating or not eating anyway. Lesson learned!

BTW, the whole idea of having breakfast for dinner was hers, because she wanted the 5 yr. old to eat her dinner in her p.j. s and be ready for bed early for the first day of school. Somehow it turned into a celebration dinner where both sets of grandparents were invited over to have breakfast food for dinner in our p.j. s. I thought it was a pretty creative and unique idea, don't you think?

Anyways, so far the rest of the week of P1 was going well up until I had a handful of the grandkids gold fish crackers this afternoon. Not the worst thing ever, but totally not worth the carbs that's for sure. Oh well. I think and feel as though my TOM is approaching, although it's been totally out of whack for the last two months in a row. In June I was one week late and then two weeks late last month. So I don't really know for sure anymore when it's actually due. Although PMS seems to come and hang on until Aunt Flow finally gets around to arriving. At this point in my life, I'm about ready to just accept that it will be enough of a challenge for me to focus on getting to 150 this fall and then maintaining that for the rest of the year through the holidays.

How's things going for you?

Sounds like you did much better than I did over the weekend. The good news is that although I ate off P1, my weight only went up a pound and better yet has already gone back down, plus another 1/2 pound this morning. I'll take that as a Victory any day.

I'll join you back on P1 tomorrow, since tonight I am attending my grand daughter's night before her first day of starting kindergarten p.j. dinner and my DIL is serving pancakes.

Oh Slimnana - Monday was my other job - which means I got up at 7:40am which I consider early! Get ready, have breakfast and walk to work. By the time I got home last night around 8pm I was beat!

I did have a nice weekend. Saturday I caught up on my sleep phase one all day and then Sunday we went to check out a brunch place with my friend and her DH for a possible place to host her baby shower. It seems like I have at least one pregnant person in my life at all times lately!

Brunch was great. I had a fritata which I had never had before and it was made with red onions and black beans and was excellent along with a side salad instead of potatoes.

Then Josh and I were off to the Cubs baseball game where they lost 16 to 5 (yuck!) and all we ate were peanuts and Josh had one beer! We did have sushi take out from our favorite place that night for dinner which I don't think was phase one but I don't think I over ate.

Monday and Tuesday still phase one. Feeling like I have more energy. Junk food in means junk mood. But I still have a bit of a junk mood so I guess I need to continue with the phase one for a little longer.

Hope you are doing great!

I'm loving all the fresh veggies available at this time of year, so I haven't had my usual V8 juice with eggs for breakfast yet while on P1 this time. Last night I made shrimp with grilled asparagus, onions, red peppers, and zucchini. Yum!

My headache is completely gone today. I usually get it after I cut out the crappy carbs during the first few days of P1. I intend to stick with it through the weekend too. It's been 4 months since I have been able to get below 155, because of over indulging on the weekends. I am so tired of going up and down the same 5 lbs. every month and getting no closer to my goal. I think that if I skip drinking any wine all weekend that I will be okay. I know we can do this, so let's just do it already!

Glad to hear that your friend had her baby and all went well for her. Labor and delivery isn't really ever easy for any woman, but the reward is so well worth it in the end. Kinda like losing weight, hugh. Only once the baby is out, it's out for good and there's no going back in. LOL!

Have a great weekend and I'll see you back here on Monday morning to share our victories! We can do it!

I left work this morning, dropped off my bags and went to breakfast with one of my friends. I did good. An egg scramble with veggies and a side of cottage cheese. The tomato juice I think really helps me fill up while I am waiting for my food.

I hope you survived such a long day with the grand kids! Once again you are amazing to help out as much as you do! And you are an incredibly young nana!!

My friend/neighbor had her little girl this morning around 7am. Last night on my way to work - Josh and I had to get on the elevator with her and her mom and baby daddy and she gave us such a mean look when the elevator had to stop on another floor!
But then she didn't end up having the baby until over 9 hrs later! This was the 2nd night of going to the hospital and she just kept saying how miserable she was and how bad the contractions were.

Even Josh said she looked emotionally and physically very poor when we saw her.

Really - I could have done without hearing about all the bad stuff and pain! But I am glad baby is here safe and sound!

Was it a caffeine related headache?
Great for you to start back your slim in 6 videos!

We just have to make it through the weekend now and then smooth sailing. I bought 3 cucumbers today so I can make a cucumber, tomato and avocado salad that I keep hearing a lot of people talking about. I don't have a recipe so I'll have to google it! :)

Day 4 of P1:
My headache is much better this morning and I'm down another pound. My energy level is pretty good too, so I am going to start back at increasing my exercise again with the Slim in 6 workout dvds in addition to 30 min. of yoga.

Hope all is going well for you!

emoticon resisting all those pot luck leftover goodies in the break room at work!

The best part of being home alone in my empty nest again is the reduction of temptations around the house. It wasn't even that my mom brought Italian cookies etc. with her like my MIL does, but more just indulging in wine, bread, pasta and dessert at dinner that does me in in social situations or family gatherings. Ugh!

Anyways P1 is going well so far this week. I'm already down 4 lbs. since Monday, but I started having an incredible headache yesterday afternoon that I still woke up with this morning.

My grandkids will be here in about an hour, so I need to get me some tylenol, have my coffee and do some yoga before they arrive and begin ringing my door bell 50 times like they usually do. It's going to be a long day of babysitting, since my son & daughter in-law are going out for dinner tonight to celebrate their 9th wedding anniversary. On the 30th is my son's 32nd birthday, which is making me feel really old at only 51 myself.

Have a great day keeping on P1, it does seem to get easier to stay in the groove of it after the first two days. Oh, and I'm Looking forward to hearing that your friend had her baby. How exciting!

Work was much better tonight except for all the leftovers from the potluck but of course not the good leftovers but the ones that will not help me move forward - cake with good frosting, brownies and chips.
I really thought that it would be ok to have lots of the cake and brownies and that I just wouldn't tell you about it. But I really don't want to be back in the deep pit I have been living in for the past several months.

I bet it is nice to say goodbye to great nana and get back to your regular bustle of a life!

You beat me to it this morning posting. I'm just about to leave to take my mom to the airport.

Yesterday went well for me too. I skipped my usual berries and bran in my yogurt, didn't have any bread, rice or pasta, and no wine with dinner. So far, so good.

Now I just need to get back to moving my butt and exercise regularly again.

Best wishes for another great P1 day!

I guess we will just have to stick with phase 1 until they are ready to join us for awhile!

Busy night - did manage to eat some grilled chicken with roasted veggies (leftovers) and breakfast will probably be boiled eggs.

It is TTOM for me and I am feeling it. My neighbor is pregnant and is now past her due date. Yesterday we chatted in the morning and she is just so desperate to have her baby.

I don't think I beat you this morning posting - you are probably already up and checked the posts! Maybe I'll be quicker tomorrow :)

Happy Monday to you too. I am really happy because when I go to work tonight the idiot pharmacist I work with won't be there! He is taking 2 vacation days!!! He isn't just an idiot but lazy too and sadly he hates being a pharmacist and doesn't understand why anyone would like this job.

Count me in for phase one! I realized yesterday morning that every summer I tend to gain weight and I don't want to continue this trend year after year! So I wrote out the key things I did all spring to keep my weight at goal and I am going to focus on these things!

I don't know if I could drive to a cabin quite as frequently as you do. It seems like a lot of work.

It cooled off last night and this morning it was only in the high 70's which was a nice change. I am having a hard boiled egg with some kidney bean and lentil soup for breakfast. But Josh's oatmeal smells really good but that is just because he has the cinnamon kind.

Good Monday Morning Elizabeth,

The weather has been pretty hot and stormy here too. I spent most of the weekend up at the lake indoors cooking, eating too much and playing with the grandkids. It finally cleared up last night enough to go out on the pontoon boat to view the sunset, before having to clean and pack up to drive back home. It looks like a beautifully crisp and sunny autumn morning here today, so I intend to go out and clean up the burnt out wilted day lilies and do some weeding before the heat returns.

I'm up 5 lbs. since my mom arrived after a week of drinking wine with dinner, eating too much bread, pasta, and ice cream, so I'll be starting at least a week of P1 today. Hope you'll join me, along with anyone else looking to get back on track again before the end of August and the summer.

Believe it or not, Fall is in the air! Which means apple picking season is right around the corner and then the holidays...yikes!

Slimnana – I really thought I was going to be able to resist the subliminal need to clean as much as possible before my mom got here and so I proceeded to take a nap. But when she called to say that she had gotten to the train station ok – I decided to use that last hour before she arrived to clean clean clean – however I did not fold the laundry but just put it back in the dryer! We had a nice time including walking to get ice cream at cold stone instead of having dinner out. I figure it was a decent trade. She is gone home now. Thursday I spent a lot of time cleaning windowsills and trimming all my indoor plants and then cleaning up the veggie boxes that are on the balcony. We lost a lot of our plants to the bad storms last week and I needed to trim back in hopes that we would get more veggies. I would be game for some phase 1 time.

Ladubose – It isn’t just Atlanta that is hot – I think everywhere has been hot lately. I can vividly remember begging for warm weather in February and yesterday I was sweating just loading grocery bags into the car! I haven’t been trying much new food. You would think that since Josh still hasn’t gotten a job that he would be cooking even more but we have been having food delivery way too frequently which is not helping! We went to Costco yesterday and have loaded up the fridge and this will help tremendously! What we have been doing a lot is roasting veggies on a cookie sheet and covering it with foil and then putting it on the gas grill instead on in our non-functioning oven. For dinner tonight, I will have some grilled chicken breast and then the “roasted” veggies of carrots, onions, broccoli, green beans and mixed veggies (both from the frozen bags) and then we just dump on the top a can of spicy pinto beans or chick peas. I have been eating this about 2 times a week. I really like it with cauliflower but Costco doesn’t sell any so I’ll have to wait for the next trip.

I spent a lot of time indoors Wednesday watching instant movies from Netflix on the laptop and realized that you can rent exercise videos. This maybe something I am going to try. I also watched so you think you can dance on Thursday night while Josh was at soccer and it was surprisingly entertaining. This was the season finale so I might have to catch it when it comes on again.

LADUBOSE: It's good to hear from you again while still on your vacation. Sounds like you managed to work out most every day which is terrific. If you still want to do a week or two of of P1 together when you get back, then we can start next Monday. I sure need to break this plateau that I've been on all summer long before Labor Day weekend.

My mom is leaving on Tuesday, so once she's gone it will be a lot easier for me to skip wine with dinner. Along with having my empty nest back to myself, so I'll be able to get back to a more regular workout routine again, including doing some Pilates and yoga.

Have a safe trip home!

Just dropping in to say hi, seems like the thread is losing momentum!! Wonder why? We are leaving Hotlanta tomorrow and I am so ready to be home and back on routine. I managed to exercise all but 3 days of the 2 weeks, at least a little bit, nothing close to normal intensity, but I hope it helped stay the damage of rich food and lots of wine! emoticon emoticon emoticon I am not looking forward to stepping on that scale Thursday morning and seeing the damage!

I am motivated to get on track when I got home. My MIL took photos and some looked ok but in some I looked HUGE!! Go figure?/ My MIL is a tiny thing and she even looked big in some of the photos so it must be the angle and the lighting, or that is what I am telling myself anyway!

Elizabeth, oh sounds fun to watch a film being made in the streets of your town, you will have to see it when it comes out~ How are you doing on your WOL diet? Are you doing something new as far as food?

Slimnanna" ouch! a sting on the foot sounds plain awful! Take care of yourself. Have you tried Pilates yet?

Isn't it funny, that no matter how old we get that we still feel that we need to have things extra tidy for when our moms come to visit. lol! It must go back to when they use to constantly nag us as teenagers to clean up our bedrooms, which I never did just to be rebellious.

Thanks for your advice on my bee sting. I especially hate the bees that hide in clover waiting to attack your bare feet as you walk in the grass. It was better it stung me rather than one of the kids though. My foot swelling seems much better today, and it only seemed to get unbearably itchy last night as soon as I got into bed to watch America's Got Talent result show. Probably because It was the first minute that I had all day to relax enough to notice (since I had been babysitting the grandkids) and the sheet brushed against the top of my foot ever so lightly.

Anyways, I blew doing P1 Tue. evening when I splurged on Sushi and wine, then again last night with that delicious sorbet from Costco that comes in the fruit rinds. So rather than losing anything so far this week, I'm up 2 lbs. again this morning. So goes the story of my life...going up and down the scale with the same few pounds.

Well I had better get back to tidying up for my moms visit. I may not be able to get online again until after the weekend, So have a good one all!

What a busy week at work! It has just been non-stop. One Monday night I didn’t get to eat at all. That means I go home starving and all week long have had rice and beans with an Indian boxed meal that is just more beans and some sauce.
I kept checking into the posts and felt so excited with everyone posting but then I never found a minute to reply!
I am going to brag – they are filming Transformers #3 in Chicago and some of the filming is going on right on our street! Monday there was a helicopter filming the Sears tower – flying right up to it and then diving down. I wanted to keep watching but I had to go to sleep.

Kathryn – I can’t believe the amounts of company you have always coming and going! I am not going to tell my mom because I don’t her to be jealous. She is coming to stay with us this afternoon until Saturday which will be nice. Happy Anniversary to you too!

Ladubose – sounds like fun, fun, fun!! Keep enjoying your time!

Slimnana – Oh I hate to be stung! You can put a strong percentage steroid (ie hydrocortisone ointment) right onto the sting to help and take a zyrtec, claritin or Benadryl to help with the itching. We had a little kid about a month ago come in the ER after being stung on his eye lid. Or you can at least try a cold compress to make it feel a little better. I know about wanting to get things done and clean before mom comes. I have a batch of laundry to fold and I like to give the extra bathroom a quick swipe because it is used so infrequently and I don’t know where all the dust comes from!

Ladubose: Your vacation sounds ideal! Enjoy every minute of it while you can. You'll have great memories and photos for when you get back home to the Mts. of Colorado.

Kathryn: Happy Anniversary!
I'm so sorry to hear of Bill's recent complication. Hopefully all will go well with his recovery from here on out. Glad to hear that you survived the heat while you were in Vegas and are now back home having a little breather of time to yourself before the next onslaught of your family gathers there again to celebrate your mom's birthday & etc. I was thinking of you all last weekend while at my lake cottage looking at all my company with those 8 kids under five running around nonstop. I don't know how you keep up with all the cooking & cleaning that must be involved. Luckily my daughter in-law had prepared a lot of the meals ahead of time and brought them up to serve, except that the breakfast she made was that Paula Dean French Toast with pecans that first blew my losing streak on Easter. Luckily for me there were so many to devour it, so I only indulged in a few bites of it myself.

On Sunday, I had gotten stung in the foot by a bee. This morning I woke up to my foot being hot, itchy and swollen from Cellulitis. So it looks like I won't be going back up to the lake cottage today as I had hoped to clean up and shampoo the rug before my mom comes on Thurs. I still plan to babysit the 3 oldest grandkids tomorrow as usual, so I will be busy cleaning up here from that mayhem before picking my mom up from the airport.

And guess who showed up yesterday after being two weeks late...that bitch Aunt Flow! I can't wait to lay that old bitty to rest once and for all. lol!

Hope all is going well for everybody this week. Take care!

Hi Everyone!

I am at the Isle of Palms now, just outside on Charleston. We are staying at this amazing house, which is nicer than most peoples homes. It is my MIL's nieces house and it is a mega multi million dollar home. She is my age! OMG who has multi million dollar SUMMER homes at the age of 30+?? Well anyway I am glad she does and that we get to enjoy it for free!!!

I am doing ok on eating while on vacation. It is so hot you almost don't want to eat much and certainly nothing heavy... I didn't get to exercise today, but I did a 75 minute tough KB work out yesterday. I also went out with some old middle school friends for one of their B-days. Although I didn't eat dinner, I did drink to much!!

Kathryn: yes it is a busy time! And you seem to be the busiest of us all! I am sorry to hear about the on going health issues in your family. I hope it inspires you to be even more committed to your healthy lifestyle choices!

Slimnanna;the IQ really is a good piece of equipment. I have worked with them a few times at home private sessions and find them the most 'authentic' to the studio style reformers. They are different in a few ways but they are the best replicas. Body Balance is one of the top producers of pilates equipment and they are the company that I bought all my equipment from. Sounds like a hoot at the lake house, but definitely not restful....

Happy Monday, Ladies! Good to see all of you today. Last time I checked in I literally threw a tantrum. Sorry about that. I can't say that I'm fully back on the beach, yet -- but I am trying to keep myself in check.

This last month has been so hard with so much going on -- and the fun continues. I have a relatively quiet week, but that's just the calm before the next storm! However, I am celebrating my 32nd wedding anniversary on Thursday. Since things have been so crazy around here, we will not be going away. Bummer. But, fear not -- we are going out to dinner! LOL

DD1 and her four kids arrive on Friday and will be in California for two weeks. During that time a nephew will be married in San Diego, my mother has her 71st birthday and it goes on and on.... And, no doubt to add to the CRAZY DD2 and her girls will join us here at the house.

SO, as you can tell my life is as crazy as the rest of yours! LOL

Update: My brother-in-law, Bill, has had major complications after having his stroke, now three weeks ago. He had to go back into the ICU for about a week. They just moved him into regular room again, yesterday -- and will hopefully transfer him back into the stroke recovery center tomorrow. They found that the blood thinners that they were giving him created terrible bleeding ulcers in his stomach. He was bleeding out terribly. They were hoping to do a heart ablation to deal with his atrial fibrillation, but are unable to do so now until they get this blood thing under control. Things are looking a bit better and they will wait 6 weeks to reconsider the ablation. Anyway, his progress for stroke rehab has been much slowed down. I feel terrible for him:(

Anyway, I hope you all have a great week. I'm definitely going to continue to think BEACHY and hopefully I can get myself together again.

Thanks for being here:)

Good Monday Morning Ladies,

Elizabeth: Welcome back! It sounds like you had a wonderfully peaceful time with your mom on that rural road trip.
emoticon

Ladubose: You go girl! I'm loving the idea of joining you in combining yoga & pilates. I"ll leave the kickboxing all to you though.
emoticon

My older son had invited 3 other couples and their kids up to the lake this weekend, so we had a total of 8 kids that were 5 and under there with us. Not exactly my idea of a relaxing retreat that's for sure. lol!

Still no Aunt Flow for me this month after being 2 wks. late so far. This constant state of bloat is about to drive me mad. Along with all the other symptoms of PMS that never ends.
emoticon

I'll be doing P1 for the next few days until my mom comes for a visit on Thurs. She'll be staying with us until the 17th. I hope to be able to at least keep doing yoga daily while she's here. I may even have her join me for some of it too, since I inherited my bad joints from her. The last couple of years she's been doing better than I am since, she's had both her hips and knees replaced. That's not something I'm looking forward to any time soon though.

In the meantime, the 1 yr. old will be here any minute for me to babysit today, so I'd better get offline and do some yoga now.

Have a great day all!

I am back home after spending some very enjoyable days with my mom in Kentucky. My aunt and uncle live the life of no mortgage, no cell phones and have built their house on a mountain ridge. It is always interesting spending time with them. This is one of my mom’s brothers.

We did go boating on Lake Cumberland one day even though I am not much of a boat person. I love the water once I get in but I am not very comfortable on boats.

Even though I haven’t ever tried kettle corn it does sound very good!

Ladubose – I am the opposite – I was very thankful for the full moon because it made sleeping in a strange house much easier! I have become a city girl and sometimes even have trouble sleeping at my parent’s house because I am not used to the pitch dark anymore! Enjoy your vacation time.

Slimnana – How is your phase 1 eating going? I was thinking of doing some P1 days. My mom managed to lose weight while we were gone – I don’t really know how as we had Chick Filet on the drive down and White Castle on the way back in additional to breakfasts of mostly fried stuff (pumpkin blossoms, zucchini and biscuits.)

It was great to be away though! My uncle is a music fanatic and one song by Sister Hazel really hit home…“If you want to change your life – change your mind.”
We can do this!

It's so hard to believe that it's not only the end of this week, but also the end of this month already!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer and staying on your eating & exercise plans as much as possible.

I just checked out the Body Balance website and it is loaded with valuable information. The IQ reformer looks perfect for me, because it can be folded up and wheeled for storage when its not in use, which is what I want to be able to do.

I think the benefits of doing pilates are just what I need. It would be a great supplement to the yoga that is helping me tremendously.

In the past, I have only done Pilates on a mat using dvds. I have never looked into taking group classes before, but you're right that I should take at least a few to learn proper form and alignment. I'll see what is available in my area to start up doing that in the fall before investing in a home reformer.

Once again thanks for your very informative and helpful opinion and advice.

Enjoy the beach!

Slimnanna: the only home reformer I know that is decent is the IQ from Body Balance. I don't know about any of the other ones, but I have seen some infomercials at friends houses for 'reformers' that barely resembled a classic reformer, so it those models you are talking about are one of those I can't, in good conscious, recommend them. Have you done Pilates? I recommend going to a studio first for some quality instruction before buying any equipment, it would be hard to understand the complexity of the movements without some good quality instructors helping you with the moves at first, to make sure your body is properly aligned. One of the gifts of pilates is realigning your body so that it moves more effortlessly and gracefully because all your muscles are moving in a balanced and harmonic way from a strong and stable core. Unfortunately what we feel as 'center' or proper alignment rarely is as our bodies have become accustomed to being of center and so when I actually get a client properly aligned on the equipment they will actually feel off center as they are so accustomed to their compensations!

LADUBOSE emoticon deprivation alone is enough of a challenge without doing P1 before you go on your vacation. Have a great time at the beach!

I don't think my IBS could handle a totally raw food diet but best wishes with that, if you do try it. What ever WOE you decide on, make sure to check back here when you get the chance. I hope we can at least keep this thread going to finish out the summer together.
emoticon

Also before you go, I need to ask you your professional opinion on home Pilates machines, and if there are any that you would recommend? I'm considering the Stamina AeroPilates Pro XP 556.

I'm thinking I may want to get one in the fall to do throughout the winter to help with my flexibility. In the meantime I'm going to continue doing yoga and Slim in 6 until Labor Day. My flexibility and strength has definitely been improving over the last couple of months, even though my weight is still bouncing up and down the scale 5 lbs. around TTOM.

Have a great day on the Beach everybody!

Oh Slimnanna leading the charge on getting us all back ontrack!! emoticon I wish I could say I could join up for a few days of P1 but with two jammed pack days before I leave town I don't see it happening! I am just going to have to leave it until I come back in town on the 11th of August and then hit it hard until Labor Day.

Didn't sleep last cause of the full moon, I am totally nuts how it effects me. Luckily my Dh was able to drop off the girls to Horse Back Riding Camp and I could sleep in. I was in and out of sleep though and it isn't very restful. I also missed my planned Mountain Bike ride, which was a bummer as I have hardly had enough time to ride this summer at all. But I had to teach two classes tonight so I knew the rest was more important.

Rocking the workouts lately but really ready to dial in the nutrition when I get back..contemplating something radical like 2 week raw food diet but don't know

Hope you girlfriends had a wonderful weekend.

So, are we all ready to get our naturally slender selves back on track today or what? As unbelievable as it is, there are only 6 more weeks until Labor Day. We had better get it together again before the fall and the holidays roll around again, so we don't begin the new year back at our original starting weights again!!!

How's that for putting the fear of fat into us?

Okay, so there I was at the pioneer festival feeling very victorious over passing by the scrumptious Kettle Korn stand, and then fell face first into a pile of Crispy Texas Fries! Anyone ever seen these evil potato chips piled a mile high & topped with cheese and bacon bits and presented in a dog bowl? I somehow deluded myself that without the toppings that they would be less of a glutton fest to try, but not so. Luckily for me there were six other people along with me to rescue me after only a few handfuls, when I almost passed out in the 90 degree heat. Texas Fries have now become one of those items that I have added to my "Never Have To Try That Again List". lol!

Evil is so right! emoticon

So Far, my TOM is over a week late again this month. I am quickly coming to realize that the whole menopause hormonal challenge is already beginning to rear its ugly head, so I must get myself back under control of my eating and exercise now, before my body totally explodes out of my clothes.
emoticon

How about if we do a few days of Phase 1 together this week?

I'm also cutting myself some more slack and upping my goal by 5 lbs. to 145.
Maybe my head & heart will be more in the game from here on out and less resistant to change. I figure It can't hurt to at least keep trying, right? Quitting is not an option!

Gosh Kathryn can I ever relate to you! I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME EITHER BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO GET GOING EITHER!! UGH! emoticon emoticon

To be honest I am darn tired of hearing myself think...and NOT DO...another one of my friends just lost 20 + lbs in a couple of months. I feel like such a pathetic loser, saying I am going to do this, planning such and such, and then not doing it!! I am really sick of it!

I leave for the beach on Thursday, have I lost the weight I said I would, heck no! Have I done the diet I set for my self? NO! UGH!!

Sorry to rant but I am frustrated with myself and when I read your post it all came tumbling out! I haven't even worked out today and I am having a hard time motivating as I am so discouraged by myself..

I LOVE kettle corn! It is the best stuff in the world. Glad I haven't been around any lately cause I know for certain it would be down the hatch in 2 seconds flat!

Elizabeth: have fun with your mom, sorry your honey couldn't come with you.

Slimnanna: enjoy the lake house and the fair. Sounds like something my girls would love

Did someone mention KETTLE KORN??? Oh my gosh -- that stuff is EVIL!!! LOL Such a major trigger for me. Sugar, salt and crunch! We bought two huge bags when in ports on our cruise. As well, other family members did the same. We were eating the stuff all flippin week!!! That and drinking diet coke!!!

I haven't been the same, since. I wasn't sure why I was having such a hard time getting back on track, but now I know! It is that darn KETTLE KORN'S fault!!!

Now, in all seriousness -- my SB life sucks right now! I am having a very difficult time getting back on track. It's been three weeks now and I can't seem to get motivated to do much of anything good for myself. I need a BIG KICK in the butt!!!! On the positive side, this really bugs me because I really really don't want to fail. And I know that the only way that won't happen is if I choose for it not to by getting back to business.

Well, that is my confession.

Love you all and hope that you all have a great weekend and enjoy your plans with family, etc... Hopefully the next time I check in, I will have myself a bit better under control.

Elizabeth: So glad to hear that you decided to go away with just your mom! Have a great time!

I'm leaving this evening to drive up to the Lake for the weekend. It's the areas annual pioneer & craft festival in the park across from our cottage. I should be able to get a lot of walking done. The challenge will be to stay away from that darn Kettle Corn that you can smell for miles away.

Have a great weekend all!

Hello All,

Sorry Slimnana that I haven't been around the past 2 days.

I was very depressed the past 2 days because Josh and I were supposed to go with my mom to Kentucky for Friday-Wednesday but now he has an offer to do contract work installing phone lines for the next 3 weeks starting Monday and he won't be able to come along. Thank goodness for some work (even if it isn't related to his MBA at all!!)

My mom didn't know if we should even go without him because it has been our tradition to drive down all together. I have just spent the past days trying to decide. I really have been looking forward to the 2 of us spending some time away from our home base and due to him not working we have been watching our spending very closely so it is just another disappointment for me.

No matter though I packed my stuff last night and my mom and I will be going alone. It will be fine - it just took me a few days to get over it because I was so excited and had our meals planned and Josh had his fishing gear all set out.

But I am grateful for the work he will be doing!

Ladubose - Hope you are doing good.

Kathryn - Hopefully you are back to your normal routine and everyone is gone.

So I will be gone until Wednesday and I don't know if I will be able to post or not - so I hope everyone has a great beachy weekend!

Elizabeth :)

LADUBOSE: It's good to see your smiling face this morning. Hang in there. Bloat happens. lol! With all the consistent exercise that you do you are no doubt very fit and healthy, no matter what you weigh. Besides, all those lean fitness models and competitors aren't able to maintain that low body fat % long term even after months of extreme dieting. The long haul is what matters most and consistency is what counts. Keep on keeping on and don't worry, be happy!!! You have it going on fitness wise and are truly an inspiration to the benefits of sticking with a daily exercise routine. You're living the active life style I only dream of.

Go out and kick some butt!

Hi everyone! Trying to get back into the game and finding it hard to make the healthiest choices still. I am feeling super fat, especially around the low belly. I am hoping it is just water weight and that it will come off quickly.

I have been spending time entering my exercises, reading The Eat Clean Recharge Book and poking around SP to get my focus back.

I leave town next thursday so don't think it is really a smart idea to go hog wild on a program until I get home on August 11th, but trying not to fall into that all or nothing attitude I can get either so I don't do more damage!

Hope every one is doing well

emoticon Kierae, Aliegh & Abe!

Good to see you back around again. You've been missed. Enjoy your little breather of time to yourself. You deserve it. Take care!

P.S. If it's okay with you, can we keep this thread a sticky topic until Labor Day and just have you change the name of it?

Thanks everyone! Don't fret Reto is totally out of our lives! And in some way it is a good thing that he was dumb enough to reveal his true scum bag nature BEFORE we got more involved with him! UGH! Still I did have a pitty party last night with a bag of Potato Chips, not even the sort of healthier kind, but the good old fashioned Ruffles! Found myself heading to them when I got home from teaching my class, had a handful and stopped myself! It is not a solution to overeat !!!junk! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had two great classes last night and a completely full class this morning so that was really nice. I also did some heavy weight lifting for my chest and back!
