I have been following the Sonoma Diet for approximately 4 years. It has kept my weight where it needs to be. I originally dropped about 30 pounds. I liked that I had a guide book for the foods I should be eating. I really enjoy the recipes with the program.

I lost another pound and I don't even feel like I am dieting. This morning I had a cup of strawberries with whipped cream, 1/2 whole wheat English muffin w/ salmom cream cheese, a two egg omelet with sauteed mushrooms garlic and basil. I melted a wedge of laughing cow light swiss cheese spread inside and then sprinkled the top of the omelet with parmesan cheese. I've been eating like that for 3 weeks and the scale is moving about 1 - 1.5 pounds per week. The other really cool thing is that at 3:00 when my eating would go really out of control I'm not craving "junk food". I know that is a key component. I'll ride this wave and adjust when the scale stops moving. The research I've read says you have to adjust what you are doing for about every 10 pounds you loose -- maybe reduce what you are eating or move more. Oh, I haven't been real consistent about the gym. Teaching Kinder has rendered me busier then I ever thought possible. I thought I worked hard when I taught 3rd and 5th grade. The grading in older grades used to make me crazy, but the prep in Kinder -- centers, hands on activities EEEK!! On the other hand I LOVE IT! I feel such a sense of accomplihment. When they go from knowing nothing to suddenly getting it, I know that I had a huge hand in it. I layed the foundation everyone else will build upon after me. It feels good to know i make difference and finally see it.

Hi Erica!
We have missed you around here. Good luck with the Sonoma Diet. I have a friend who tried it for awhile. She really liked it, but didn't stick with it. I may send her your way since she is thinking about it again.

I started another spark team called Sonoma Diet -- modified. Since I do agree about the elimination of a food group. If you are interested check it out.

Good Luck with this - I googled it and read the pros and cons on ask.com. There are some people who loose weight on diets like this as for me - I've been having success with portion control and exercise - paired w/ keeping a food diary (actually I'm keeping 2 - the one on sparkpeople and a written one). I've been doing this very consistently since May and am close to feeling this IS my lifestyle now.

All of our bodies are so different, what works for one won't necessarily work for someone else. Keep me/us updated on what you do and how well you do.

Is anyone interested in joining me on using the Sonoma Diet as the basis of their eating plan? Basically the Sonoma plan is in 3 waves. The first wave lasts 10 days and is designed to break you of your sugar cravings. The second wave lasts until you reach your goal weight and is based on a 7 inch plate or 2 cup bowl concept for breakfast and using a 9 inch plate for lunch and dinner. I've lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks using it. I'm kind of excited
