Spring is here and snow is in the forecast for the hills. The weather is all over the place right now. -- I'm thankful I have access to a gym for exercise!

Getting on the elliptical machine at least 4 nights a week after work and strength during commercials is my challenge right now! Once it gets nicer out and the snow melts, it will be bike riding and walking/running outside! I have running in the cold weather outside. I would really like to try a triathalon in August, that is what is going to keep me motivated I hope!
One day at a time, I can do this...

March is usually my "turn around" month, getting past the winter doldrums... Once there is more light I seem to get a handle on my mental issues re. food choices. In other words, I am able to come out of "hibernation." (I think I should have been a bear!?! LOL)

Getting closer to March. What are our plans for this March?
I will be ready to do more yoga, and swing my kettlebells more at home. And get back to the gym.

I completely let everything go last summer, but started back at the gym in October. I've been going five days a week and am getting a group of ladies together who are interested in doing some hiking with me when the weather gets better. So I'm hoping the winter weather goes by fast also.

Finally moved in the right direction. Total cardio minutes for this week was 232. Not as high as the last week of February, but 90 minutes more than any of the previous weeks in March!

I'm still going backward on this challenge. Only managed to get exercise last week, but am going to do better this week. Things have settled down a little here, so I'm aiming for at east 300 minutes of cardio this week--in addition to getting most of my spring cleaning done. Windows will have to wait for at least a month until the pollen from the oaks and pines settles--everything is yellow-green outside right now!

I'm beginning to think I'm trying to do this challenge backward. The second week I only had 129 minutes of cardio, and they were on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The rest of the week I have been doing a lot of moving, but not enough to qualify as cardio. A family emergency has messed up my schedule BIG TIME! I just hope I get a chance to enjoy a walk in the beautiful weather we're having--86 degrees predicted for today.

We went to Millennium Park on Saturday for the walk and for a warm up my daughter had a friend of hers who teachers Turbo Boxing do the warm up! We did 30 minutes of that and then walked around the park! It was chilly but a nice sunny day, great fun!

Didn't make the extra minutes during my first week of the challenge. I pulled a muscle in my leg so gave it a rest from Sunday until Wednesday. The total for the week of 3/1 to 3/7 was only 143 cardio minutes. I'm back exercising now, so next week should be much better!
Frannie, are we supposed to be posting our results in a different post? The link in your original post gives me an error message that the thread is not found.

TheresaMK, can you lift even small weights?? Maybe 1 to 5 pound dumbbells? Also resistance bands, or a PILATES RING (you squeeeeze it).
Check for what your medical professional says. Strength training complements cardio very nicely!

Fell off the wagon this past month. But ready to try again. Due to spinal cord injury the only cardio I could do was the arm peddler and ordered it this morning!. So look out I'm on a roll girls!

OKay ladies! I'll bite! I was actually just telling myself I needed to start pressing a bit harder on my exercise. Just started back to work so I'm sitting ALL day! What better reason than to help out the team and make up for all my sitting throughout the day!! I did 82 minutes today- - today I can't log that one for March 1. LOL

Are you saying to add 30 minutes more to what we're already doing? or to be sure to have at least 30 minutes of cardio in our exercise plan?

Just add 30 cardio minutes to your current routine each week. You can do it 10 minutes 3 times in a week, 15 minutes twice a week or all 30 minutes one more day a week. Whatever works best for you. It can be whatever cardio you prefer, I walk so I will be adding more walking, but if you wanted to add something new that would be great too. Are you limited to only 30 minutes, no indeed not, if you want to add 45 or even 60 that would be great! Post on the challenge forum www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messagebo ard_thread.asp#Anchor46793215 once a week to keep everyone posted on your progress and to encourage others!
So let's get moving for Spring, cardio exercise is essential for our health, it is a necessary part of any healthy lifestyle change!
