Hi Terra! I totally understand where you are coming from! I think we might have been separated at birth. My exercise is great, but eating is SO inconsistent.

I am a little frustrated today. Worked out for two hours yesterday, but started eating like crazy in the afternoon. Hate when I work so hard, but ruin it with my eating.

okay, checking in here, cause I said I would... Stuck to my planned food today, except for a few cookie samples, but still stayed in my calorie range. Did 45 minutes of step aerobics this morning, and got all my water.
Tomorrow's plan... Eat the meals I already planned and tracked. Run while the boys are at school, and stay away from the cookies!

Ugh! First, Welcome back Lynn! Nice to see you again! Terra - Love the idea for a weekly challenge! Let me know what I can do to help. And, yeah, I know we usually get an influx of people and activity on this site and team right around the new year, so maybe a "bigger" team challenge after the holidays would be good.
The week has been pretty much a disaster. Had a great time spending quality time with family and friends, got lots of holiday "to dos" done... all the trees and decorations are up, some gifts are bought, etc. But, my eating (and drinking) has been awful, and I haven't tracked a thing.. not even water. My exercise has been consistent, but definitely not as intense as it needs to be. And I know I can't just keep coasting through until after Christmas, cause it will just be a disaster. Oh, and that 5K my mom and I were supposed to do on Thursday morning??? Well, we wussed out, cause it was cold, raining, and we found out we may have been exposed to the swine flu a few days before, and decided that if we were fighting it off, it wouldn't be smart to be out in the rain on a 30 degree morning.
Okay, enough whining and confessing.... here's my plan... (Small steps... one at a time) I've already planned and tracked my meals for tomorrow, with some leeway left for snacks. Planning for a long cardio session while the kids are at school. I will also check in to spark to track my food and exercise, and check in with my team at least once a day! I definitely feel like when I am less active here, my choices aren't as smart, and it becomes a vicious circle.

Don't worry Ursula, I haven't had time to get on the computer with Thanksgiving and all. Hope to get a few minutes now. Maybe a challenge running through Thanksgivig isn't a good idea.
Lynn, welcome back. First awesome on the races and what a great way to spend time with those you love. As far as the six pounds...keep everything in focus and remember that you can get that off no problem. Start doing what you used to do and you'll be back to your old weigh by Christmas. Also, I am trying to not focus on the scale as much as knowing I am being healthy.
Here is what I am thinking. As Lynn, I need someplace people come to, but I don't always have the time to post. So, what about some type of weekly challenge and support thread. Say like: Week one challenge: track your calories ....simply post at the end of the week on how you did, but try to stop in and see if people are needing support or just to chat. Week two: we add on...track your calories, drink your water. We could do this for three weeks (stopping the week before Christmas. I am sure ursula, shane and I need to touch base about a big kick off the year challenge.

Hi Cubby Friends, I feel pretty out of it, so tried to find the thread in which most people were posting lately, and this seems to be it. It's high time I get back into the swing here (baseball metaphor, already?) because being away from SparkPeople and my SparkBuds sure isn't doing me much good. I've gained about 6 pounds since my July triathlon and the workouts aren't quite as intensive, which means I need to change something.
My son and I ran a 10K up in Lake Geneva on Saturday, and while I didn't burn up the course, I did finish without walking too much (It was a VERY hilly course). Parts of the trail were rather muddy so we had to tiptoe around those parts!
Our district has given us some pedometers for a health challenge and I'm finding that having that lil' guy attached to my waist keeps me walking around a bit more than I usually would. It's a fashion disaster, but whatever!
I hope to be chatting with you all more, starting today.

Sorry, I've been MIA this week. Just seems busy, and my motivation is starting to really deteriorate. Maybe I should go back and read some of my journal entries from when I first started on Spark, and was actually losing weight.
Terra, so sorry to hear your family's been sick too. The boys are better...been fever free since Tuesday, and the coughing has lessened...now just lots of snot.

I debated whether to get in this or not. I haven't been very good about tracking for quite a while. It is so hard when we are always going somewhere, etc. But, I decided that I needed to do it, at least when I can, to get me back on track. I have been gaining a little weight since I haven't been accountable.

Forgot to WI this morning...will do it tomorrow AM. Really need to get my act together. Today is the first time in a LONG time I actually tracked all my food. So, I suppose that's a good start.
My personal goal will be to limit "splurges" to two a day... Halloween candy, cookie, etc. I know for weight loss, it would be best to have "one" or "none" for a goal, but I'm trying to be realistic, and two would be WAY better than what it's been lately. It was a good day 1...

Okay gang. This is a simple challenge. We are taking it back to basics and being thankful for health. The challenge will run from nov.1 -dec. 1.

Weigh ins are not necessary as this is a challenge focusing on health, not weight.
Many dieters love 100-calorie snack packs, which allow them to easily control portions while enjoying their favorite foods. But just how healthy are these snacks?
